Do others see the video in the original post?
I see it and really wish I felt like dancing like that little girl.

Something more light-hearted because all of the gun violence depresses and angers me. This isn't the place I thought I grew up in.

Measuring the passage of time: I've gone to the same woman to get my haircut for about 20 years. About 8 years ago, she made a comment "Look at all those white highlights!" ergo my handle on ECF. Today, I had my haircut. As I stood up to leave the light from the window hit my hair and she remarked "Look at all those blonde highlights!" There was another woman waiting and she told her it's all natural too. My mom had beautiful white hair with some strawberry blonde highlights. When I've been asked what I use to color my hair (many, many times over the years), I respond with dna or "Jeanne's".
Thanks mom!

There has been an explosion of news articles and reports about teens and vaping in TN today. It is ridiculous. One comment was that vaping uses longer draws than a tobacco cigarette implying that is is better to smoke than vape. Geez

Isn't that one of the most ridiculous things you ever heard? That's right up there with men can have babies.

About 3 months ago I gave up coloring my hair. I had been doing it for over 30 years because I starting turning grey in my 40s. Except for dome salt-and-pepper on the top and back of my head the rest is snow white and looks great.

    Hola .. :(

Whenever there is a National Tragedy, another mark of shame against us collectively, the usual platitudes are spouted .. we've heard it all before, way too many times ..

In time, our collective memory fades as we move on to the next news cycle .. and, with each new event, we grow more immune to the hurt ..

The shame is on us ..

Maybe the "collective" grow more immune, but I've intentionally been avoiding the news cycle because it hurts too much each time I think of the parents and friends of the fallen. My buried feelings and emotions from my own background break through the door in my mind and I feel them and know what those folks are going through.

    Hola ..

I grew up in San Antonio, a hop skip and a jump from Uvalde .. spent plenty of time there around the Nueces River, passed through many a time on the way to the Mexican border .. back in those days, you just walked across the border and when you came back, just had to orally declare your Citizenship ..

Back then, Texas was still a slice of the West, a still new feeling Frontier .. miles upon miles of open country, some of the most friendly people on Earth .. Mexico was relatively safe for us Gringos ..

It's a different State from about any other, at least it was back then .. the clearest night skies once you got out of the city .. stars that shown brightly and clearly .. I'd hunt and fish with my Grand Pa, getting around in his old pick up truck with a .22 and a shotgun hanging on the rack against the rear window ..

The World changes, there's nothing we can really do about it .. it just changes .. it's not the same World it was back in those long ago days .. is it a better World now .. ?? I suppose, in ways, yes ..

But we've lost the innocence, not just there, but everywhere .. and maybe, just maybe, that's the worst thing to lose ..

If people would just spend a few honest minutes checking into vaping they'd find there is a factual side to the argument and wouldn't make such stupid statements as vaping is more dangerous. People pretty much hear what they want to hear though. I corrected a woman once about believing a long ago debunked rumor, but her reply was that it was what she was told years ago and she's going to believe it no matter what. Oye. Sometimes you can't fix stupid.

    Morning, loungers.

Rain continues, but they do guess that it might start to back off by Sunday.

Yeah, "my mind is made up, facts don't matter."

This inflation crap is just some crap .. made chili the other day, so yesterday was Frito Pie day at mi casa, remembered I had no Fritos so on the way home, I stopped at Dollar General .. $4.60 for a regular size bag of Fritos .. really .. ?? Is there a supply chain issue .. ?? And, to top it all off, I think they reduced the size of the stinkin' bag .. yeah, they would probably have been cheaper at Kroger or Walmart, but I did not feel like shlepping a mile through a Super Store ..

Pre-pandemic, I'm pretty sure I was buying these at 2 for $3.00 any variety ..

On a side note, I was a Fritos Chili / Cheese addict for some time ..

And, I just don't get the craze of super hot Cheetos .. hate those things ..

Forrest Gump was a genius compared to the variety of stupid we encounter, and experience, these days.

FWIW, while Forrest Gump was a fictitious character, the character was directly inspired by a handful of real people.

Good afternoon all. I finally got rid of the pool in the backyard. Now I need to go out and get the weeds pulled and get ready to spread out the seeds. It will be nice having my backyard again. Next will be getting rid of the hot tub.
I was at an organization picnic, and they ran out of bowls for the chili, and they had a load of chili left. I ask the servers for a bag of Fritos. I took my knife and slit the side open and put a big scoop of chili in the bag and added some cheese on top. OMG, you would have thought I was the first person to put a pocket on a shirt. The wives were serving, and they were incredibly happy to not throw out the chili. Californians are on a different level. The kids were the ones that really had a fun time. They thought it was a novel way to eat chili.
