I tried to post a Memorial Day picture and it won't post. Huh?? Dragged it here, clicked on full image as usual and - nothing.

Anyway, I hope people enjoy their long weekend and take a little time to remember those we've lost and the families they left behind.

We only have a couple months worth of 'survival food' stashed away. We also have a decent stash of silver dollars (the old big ones with a lot of silver content and 1000's of bullets in different calibers. Figure silver and bullets will be the new currency if the fits hit the shan. And the bullets will help to keep the miscreants away.
I don't have a clue as to how much food I have. It wouldn't hurt me to get some MREs or something on that level. As far as ammo goes, I have a couple thousand 22lr for small game and practice. I'm a firm believer of use it or lose it. I also have the equipment for reloading my 243, 45ACP, and 40 S&W. Lee makes a great kit to get you started, check them out at MidwayUSA.

I know, right. When I was in high school there was a corner dive right next to the school where everyone hung out. They offered Frito Pies for 25 cents. And that included a small coke, too.
There was a time of several months in early 1962 when I lived on a Coke™ (6 oz) and a nickel (5¢) bag of Fritos™ a day. I dropped from 210 pounds to 140 over those months. I was ushering in a theater showing _The_Counterfeit_Traitor_ and I must have seen that movie (in disjointed parts) at least fifty times. (Wagner's The Ride of the Valkyries still rings in my ears at odd moments.) I did win a twist championship at one of the many Hollywood dives of the time. A very weird period in my life; one of many.

@Uncle Willie I thought of you when I saw this. I may look into some of the other performances too.

Dang, I still can't see youtube vids that I post or other people post. I had to reply to and or quote WhiteHightlights post to see the video link.

edit: so weird, when I first posted this reply w/ quote the video showed up in the quoted area. But now it's gone.

I also no longer see video links using the ECF "Dark" theme.

Good morning, all. Nothing planned except yard work. I have a pot of beans and some leftover ham.i wish I had an onion in it, however, I had a bad night and I don't drive after taking pain pills. I really shouldn't be doing yard work but I need to put down grass seed where I used to have the pool. A 24 foot round circle of sand is not something I want look while having my morning coffee on my patio. I got all of pieces of the liner so now it is roots that I need to tackle. It took 4 big yard bags for the liner.

I hope everyone has a good day.

My stash consists of MRE's / general off the shelf canned goods / dried beans, mainly pintos, and various pre-made buckets of emergency food rations bought on Amazon once in a while when I catch a good sale .. I'm in good shape ammo wise as well .. I did keep a good stash of rice for a while, but then I read it has maybe a 2 year shelf life, so I ate it .. I'll about eat rice with anything ..

It has been a challenging morning. Dad fell in the kitchen and called me again to wake me up. Lots of big bandages but no broken bones or emergency room visits so it's all good.

It is so inconsiderate for that man to fall when I have asked him several times not to before I had my coffee.

Now we are just waiting for the cable man to come between 3-4. I was so surprised that they worked on holidays although I always volunteered to work those days for the extra pay.

He is watching an 8-inch tablet now but it is better than nuttin'. I told him it was funny with the morning we have had that he is sitting there watching B it chin' Rides (some car show). That's about how you could describe my day. heehee

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day.

Reading the ingredients of some of the 14 day food packs they list white rice with 25 year shelf life. I'm working in the backyard so I'll look to try to make sense of it all. Thanks for the Amazon link.
Ouch! That is not a relaxing way to start the day. I'm glad to hear that your dad is in repair mode.

A while back, I read an article about hummus .. I really did not know what it was or what it consisted of, but, the other day at the Kroger I made a point to pick up a container .. garlic flavor .. next time, I'd probably get the classic style ..

It's really not to bad on a cracker .. I tried it on a bagel as well, but the little extra salt in a cracker seems to work well with it .. combine that with some nice cheese and wine, and it's a heath food bonanza .. :)

Glad to hear your dad is ok! Falls are scary. My mom has had a few but has been lucky, usually just bruising. Some of them have been SPECTACULAR bruises, since she bruises if you look at her too hard, but no breaks or ER visits (knock on wood).

Today I got groceries for myself and my mom, did laundry, and washed Hubs’s car. I wouldn’t have offered to wash it if I had realized how dirty it was! It wasn’t really all that bad I guess, except for the tar (paving project close to his work) and dead bugs. I wasn’t sure I’d ever get some of that stuff off, but I got most of it. Hubs had no complaints about the quality of my work - I guess he figured he’s in enough pain already so he wasn’t going to take any chances

I hope you all have a wonderful evening!

My day was spent mostly sitting and binging on Poirot. Because of a back injury, gardening is sort of put on hold this year, and have to hire a landscaper to keep everything maintained. Did manage some tomatoes, eggplant and peppers, and except for perennials coming up, no daily playing in the garden.
The weather has been cool up till today, and the nights were actually chilly, but I have this sweet lil shawl that was a gift and it just fits the bill when my shoulders get cold. It also serves as a comfort snuggie.

RtR. yea, I agree, how inconsiderate for your dad to fall before your morning coffee!
Hope he fares well with recovery.

Sorry I missed your call the other day and sorry to hear about your back. There is nothing that will stop you from having something growing somewhere. You and your magical green thumb. Not a thing wrong with having some help with the yard. Sit back enjoy and hope your back feels better real soon.

    Come back when you can.

I do not mind this day coming to an end. I am sure tomorrow will be better and if by chance it is not, I am sure I will handle that too. Thank you for your concerns and I appreciate any good thoughts you can send our way.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day and a great week to come.
