Good afternoon all. I finally got rid of the pool in the backyard. Now I need to go out and get the weeds pulled and get ready to spread out the seeds. It will be nice having my backyard again. Next will be getting rid of the hot tub.
I was at an organization picnic, and they ran out of bowls for the chili, and they had a load of chili left. I ask the servers for a bag of Fritos. I took my knife and slit the side open and put a big scoop of chili in the bag and added some cheese on top. OMG, you would have thought I was the first person to put a pocket on a shirt. The wives were serving, and they were incredibly happy to not throw out the chili. Californians are on a different level. The kids were the ones that really had a fun time. They thought it was a novel way to eat chili.
I thought everybody knew about Frito Pie.

I have only been in a vape shop once since I started vaping. Was not impressed way back in 2013. Today I went into my 2nd vape shop 9 years later and still was not impressed. The little guy who was not old enough to grow a decent mustache said to me as soon as I went in the door, "I bet I can help you with anything you need." How cocky is that? Well, I am sorry to say he could not. I asked for 3 things and I am relatively sure he only knew what one of the items was. Oh well, they had a good a/c and it gave me a chuckle.

I know, right. When I was in high school there was a corner dive right next to the school where everyone hung out. They offered Frito Pies for 25 cents. And that included a small coke, too.

Does anyone have any big plans for Memorial Day weekend?

Now that's what I call "the good o'l days".

Stankin' cold ... day 3. Running nose, mild fever, queasy stomach, zero energy ... enough is enough. Even did the Covid self-test because we've got a hugh spike in cases in the county. Nope negative. Janet probably passed it on to me because she's been sick too all week.

And I was supposed to take Miles and Beckett on their first fishing adventure today.

But my son is kind of OK it's been cancelled. He's worked 13 days straight and said he could use a day of doing nothing.

    Good morning, y’all!

As to the talk about food prices, they really are getting up there! When I was growing up, we ate A LOT of beans and potatoes and cornbread. I find myself having those for dinner often these days, too. They’re cheap (compared to other stuff) and I still enjoy them.

I’m so excited to have three days off work! I have no plans, and I’m perfectly ok with that. I have a few things I’d like to do, like clean up my craft room again. It’s really small and gets cluttered up easily, so it needs a little TLC. I may also wash Hubs’ car for him, since he’s not up to it. He’s awfully picky about his vehicle, but maybe I can do a passable job. LOL

I hope you all have a fantastic Saturday!

    Hola .. :)

If I have to resort to Ramin, at least I do actually like it .. ;)

Between us here, I have maintained a stock of survival food now for some time .. I've got what I figure to be at least a couple years worth along with other associated survival necessities ..

All I know is, whether there will or will not be some sort of Apocalypse, the Society that we currently reside in is held together by a very, very thin thread .. if the fits hit the shan, I give it 48 hours or less before roving bands of miscreants are out and about and ready to create mayhem .. after they loot the Walmart ..

Then again, food prices keep going up, I may have to resort to eating my survival stash ..

    Conundrum ..

I never thought about it being frugal. I eat it because it is good. I love me some cornbread.

That would be $20 in the Modern World ..

Dropping by to say yo to all.

This past week's tragedy left me in a funky mood and got very depressed over it, as I'm sure many of you did, also.
Even though I do not watch mainstream media somehow it filters through when I'm on the net.
I try to isolate myself as much as possible, but doesn't always work. Some may say that is cowardly; I say it's survival.

This horrific tragedy put my own grief in its true perspective. My man lived a full life and a happy one and was able to see our children grow into successful adults and he was given the gift of being able to play with our 5 grandchildren. These innocent victims will not be able to do that.

We only have a couple months worth of 'survival food' stashed away. We also have a decent stash of silver dollars (the old big ones with a lot of silver content and 1000's of bullets in different calibers. Figure silver and bullets will be the new currency if the fits hit the shan. And the bullets will help to keep the miscreants away.

@Uncle Willie I thought of you when I saw this. I may look into some of the other performances too.

Good morning. I'm back home from kid duty. One more trip down this Wednesday for Hux's kindergarten graduation. The past 2 months have been pretty tiring, but it was so great to spend so much time with Brody. We had fun even though I did get this cold while there.

This inflation crap is just some crap .. made chili the other day, so yesterday was Frito Pie day at mi casa, remembered I had no Fritos so on the way home, I stopped at Dollar General .. $4.60 for a regular size bag of Fritos .. really .. ?? Is there a supply chain issue .. ?? And, to top it all off, I think they reduced the size of the stinkin' bag .. yeah, they would probably have been cheaper at Kroger or Walmart, but I did not feel like shlepping a mile through a Super Store ..

Pre-pandemic, I'm pretty sure I was buying these at 2 for $3.00 any variety ..

On a side note, I was a Fritos Chili / Cheese addict for some time ..

And, I just don't get the craze of super hot Cheetos .. hate those things ..

Don't know if the supply chain was part of it, but all the ingredients have increased in price as well as the cost of labor. Don't know that anything is going to escape the upward costs. Mike mailed a tiny little plastic part in a letter size padded envelope and it cost $4.80 to mail. Whoa.

Does anyone have any big plans for Memorial Day weekend?

Now that's what I call "the good o'l days". View attachment 975365 The older I get. . . the more I miss those days.

My big plan is going to Costco to pick up my new eyeglasses. This is the first time I've used Costco so we'll see. A neighbor recommended them. The cost was a fraction of what I'd pay at the usual eyeglass places we've used. It's always frosted me that frames cost hundreds of dollars. It's nuts. They're all made by 3-4 places and then the store tacks on their mark-ups. Stick a celebrity name on them and jack the price through the roof. Sheesh.
