    Hola .. :)

I personally know 4 plumbers .. one of them since he was a kid .. trying to get a nagging drip fixed on an outdoor faucet .. each of these guys says 'Sorry, Willie, booked up for a couple weeks ..' .. well yes, I know it's a small job but I'm not asking you to do it for free, facryinoutloud ..

Finally, this morning, watched a couple YouTubes, dissected the durn thing myself, went to Lowes and got what I needed .. put it back together, voila .. $5.00 in parts ..

Probably saved at least $75-100 clams ..

    Winning ..
We had a leaky outdoor faucet when we moved in here. Plumber said couldn't be fixed without tearing through the wall and was going to costs hundreds. I found a super great plumber who fixed it by changing a small part on the faucet.

Many years back while I was still working. When I got to work, my truck wouldn't go into reverse. Heck! What's wrong?

At lunch time I took it to a transmission shop that was close by. They took a look and said they'd have to pull the transmission, etc. etc. to fix the problem.

When I got home from work I crawled under the truck and saw an 18" rod hanging loose from the tranny. I looked around to determine where the other end should be hooked. When I figured that out I hooked it backup and ... ta da ... my truck went into reverse.

What a bunch of scammers that tranny shop was ... getting ready to charge me $1000's of dollars for 10 minutes of work to re-hook the transfer bar on the outside of the transmission that controlled going into/out of reverse.

Reminds me of many years ago. I was in Keene with first hubs when we lost the muffler on our car. Didn’t lose it but we were dragging it. When we got to the end of the street there was a garage on the other side so we pulled in. Hubs just wanted to get it home and the guy agreed to that. Wired the muffler up and didn’t charge us a dime.

    .

Bailing wire should be in every car tool kit :)

    And duct tape.

When I earned a living turning wrenches and fixing cars. We always said the only thing you need to carry in your car if you had a breakdown was bailing wire, vise grips, duct tape and a lead hammer. With that you could fix most anything.

I was a bit late and had to pay $9.99 for the one I ordered. I still consider that a win.

Not much is going on here. I mowed the outside yard and planned on the inside portion today, but thunderstorms rolled through here this morning and drenched the ground. Heavy rain, thunder, and lightning were close to my house, making me jump in my chair more than once. I guess I can wait until tomorrow to finish the yard.

Monday I will be calling the A/C repair to replace the motor. I finally got the bank to transfer the money to pay for the replacement motor. How did we ever handle not having A/C when we were growing up? The attic fan and box fans help a little. At least the temperatures aren't too bad, yet.

I hope everyone has a good weekend.

Hi, Lizards! I am up past my bedtime, and I can tell it! I am waiting on some laundry to finish drying so I can fold it up and get in bed. My cat had been giving me loud and stern reminders that it was time for bed, but she finally gave up and on without me.

I have had three lovely days off work, and I have gotten a lot done. It’s amazing how much I can do when I don’t have to waste so much energy on WORK. Then again, I guess if I didn’t work, I wouldn’t have a house and things to take care of. Live to work and work to live

Hubs is scheduled for surgery on Tuesday. I was surprised - I figured it’d at least be another week or so. Hubs told them he’d like to go ahead and get it over with, so for once I guess they actually listened! Boy, do I dread it. Pain medicine makes him as ornery as a hornet. The pain itself makes him pretty grouchy, understandably so, of course…but when you add in the high-powered pain meds, he is almost a totally different person. Hopefully that part will be over in a few days! The full recovery will take three to six months. It will be worth it though.

I hope you all have a good night!

    Morning, bohemians,

Still soggy here, although it's said that it will taper of for a day or two. We'll see. :)

Forcast is for light rain and showers from noon until late afternoon. Mow some yard theis morning. Being sick all week it was starting to get ahead me and out of control. It was nice when we lived in the 'woods'. All the time we lived there I never owned a lawn mower of any kind.

Off to take Janet flower shopping at the local greenhouse. She's wanting plants for the back porch and pool area. Ott's Green House is always a nice trip.

200 clams later we're back from the greenhouse. Here's some 'live' shots from today's visit. You don't have to wander through the tropical rain forest to reach the green house, but it's one of the highlights of going to Ott's Greenhouse.

And the passion flower at 81 bucks didn't come home with us, but it sure is pretty.

Good afternoon, all. The last couple of nights I've slept in my bed with the fans on and covered with just a sheet. I slept like a rock. 8+ hours each night. Waking fully rested is a real pleasure. I'm not sure how long it will last but these last 2 nights have been nice. I hope everyone has a good day.

I always enjoy my trips to Otts. It's so pretty, but with everything, it's expensive - and you can never have too many flowers! That's why I said trips with an "s". It does't hurt as much. Today was the most we've ever spent in one shot, but it was worth it. The deck is now looking like someone loves it and of course the critters like it too. Now I have to get busy repotting them!
