You don't have to wander through the tropical rain forest to reach the green house, but it's one of the highlights of going to Ott's Greenhouse.

Hola .. :)

I'd say Ott's has been at this for a while ..

Hope Kay's doing OK ..

I always enjoy my trips to Otts. It's so pretty, but with everything, it's expensive - and you can never have too many flowers! That's why I said trips with an "s". It does't hurt as much. Today was the most we've ever spent in one shot, but it was worth it. The deck is now looking like someone loves it and of course the critters like it too. Now I have to get busy repotting them!
    What did you get?

Indeed they have. They've got some really-really old and big plants in the green house. So big I've no idea if there permanent or they'd have a way to move them out if someone wanted to buy.

And their collection of Jade plants ... they're the biggest and oldest i've ever seen ... how about a Jade plant with a 4-5 foot span. Incredible.

Oh, and it's worth a drive-by when the mum's are in bloom. They go absolutely all out planting a large hillside next to the green house complete with tunnel underneath it and a walkway to the top.

oh, oh, the Amazon shopping wasn't done. The light arrived today and I liked it so much I got another. The discount is still active and so is one of the coupon codes for 50% off.

For under 10 bucks it's pretty good. It has an RA index of 80. Lights with RA between 80-90 are consider 'good' and those with 90-100 'excellent' when it come to reproducing natural light indoors for color rendition. I'll live with this $10 lamp as opposed to some costing way over $100 for producing 'natural/daylight' indoors.

Thank you so much for posting the pics. What a wonderful place. I might just have to put that on my list of things I want to do.

I thoughts dad's peanut butter was too old so I took the lid off and put it outside the back steps. I figured something would eat it. They did lick about 3 inches down but could not get to the prize. So I scraped it clean and packed it on the red lid. The birds pecked at it all day (I hope it was the baby bluebirds that are nesting in their house) then this morning I go out there and the big red lid was completely clean. Something enjoyed it. I figure it was an opossum or a raccoon. I have pictures of a pretty good size fox. Maybe he likes peanut butter.

For the first time ever, something has gnawed my hostas to nubs. I am pretty sure it was deer. They ate my aunt's also so it must be delicious. My neighbor from where I used to reside had a video camera security set up. Her hostas got eaten and she looked back at the footage and a deer laid down and had a buffet. It was so cute.

Oh, and the hummingbirds are still boycotting my house. grrrr I had bunches for the last two years and it is the same feeder in the same place. Go figure. Maybe I should try moving the feeder or something or just quit trying to feed the unappreciative hummers around here.

It's Saturday night and the most excitement I have had was cutting 5 inches off my hair and filling up two weeks worth of medications for me and dad. Boy, do I know how to throw down or what? heehee

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.

I'll post some pictures when I get them repotted.

    What did you get?

Geramiums, vinca, coleus, crossandra, 8 calibrachia, 2 hanging calibrachia, 2 of a variegated plant that I do't know the name of, and 1 pepper and 1 tomato plant. Some are for the deck and some will be planted in the beds. There's definitely plenty of room for more, but I'll stop in at a different greenhouse to see what they have in small pots. There were a lot of beautiful petunias, but I hate trimming them because they leave your fingers sticky. Dirt is ok, sticky is not.

    You're welcome anytime!!!

When they built the big greenhouse at Otts they made a mountain of all the dirt that was excavated. What to do with a giant mound of dirt? Plant flowers on it of course - who can resist stopping in!! I don't know if the tunnel was planned later or not, but it's a pretty cool feature.

They've got some very well established plants in the greenhouses. Guess they just move the smaller plants around them. No way I'm paying that much for any plant. I was in shock paying $28 for the hanging pot, but it is large and VERY full.

Looks like our raccoon is back. I haven't been bring the feeder in for a month or 2, but evidently he was taking a deck trip and stopped by to empty my feeder last night.

Must be some new deer in the area because the last couple years they've been eating my hostas down to stubs too. It seems they love pruning my hydrangea bush too and now they're even eating my balloon plants! They haven't had a chance to bloom yet! 3 acres of stuff to eat and they have to heat my plants. I can only have gerber daisys in pots on the deck because if I plant them in the beds they get eaten. They think we run a smorgasbord here!

filling up two weeks worth of medications

Hey now, that was my Saturday night excitement too. Such a satisfying feeling when you're done, knowing you don't have to open a pill bottle for two weeks. Ain't getting older grand, discovering new things to do on Saturday nights.

Wow, Y'all are talking my language with the exciting fun-filled Saturday nights. I also sometimes add a bit of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. I'm able to visit the skies all around the world.

I went out this morning and finished mowing my lawn. After putting the mower up I grabbed the weed wacker so I could trim up the edges. The trimmer head wouldn't advance the line. Oh well, Amazon to the rescue. A replacement head will be delivered tomorrow. It isn't a self-advancing head, I will have to cut the line and push the line through the head. I have used that style and like it much more and the line lasts a long time.

Tomorrow I will be calling the A/C repair and get them to come out and replace the fan motor. At least I have the cash to get it done. If it isn't one thing it's another. The repair guy that came out said I was lucky it is only the motor at $900 after a 10% discount and not a replacement for the whole thing. A total replacement starts at $12k.

I hope everyone has a good Sunday.

Good luck with the A/C repair…hopefully they can get it done quickly and you’ll be cool as a cucumber in no time. And hopefully you’re still getting good sleep…I tend to sleep better when it’s nice and cool in the room. It makes getting up a little harder because I don’t wanna leave my warm bed, but it’s worth it to sleep like a log all night!

My mom got in the habit of tossing scraps out for the raccoons. One night she was watching TV and heard scratching at the door. She thought it was the cat wanting in, but realized on her way to the door that the cat was already in for the night. She cautiously opened the door, and it was a raccoon. She said he just looked at her like “Where’s my dinner?!” He’d scratch whenever he was hungry and mom most of the time would feed him a little something. He eventually stopped coming around for some reason or another. She liked to snack on peanut butter and crackers and would make a couple extra for the raccoon…she said they were always a big hit.

I had to throw out a brand new jar of peanut butter because of that recall. Luckily it was just a small one…I usually buy the big jars (because I love peanut butter more than anyone should) but they didn’t have any at the time. I guess that stock shortage was actually working in my favor for once!

Well you just reminded me that I bought 370 feet of line. Maybe next Saturday night I can cut it into 10 ft. pieces and refill my spools. Now tell me what could be more exciting than that? Glad the pills are done for two weeks because I don't think I could handle the excitement of both.

We had some rain during the night, but the sun is out this morning and looks like the sky is clearing. Going up to 88 so a bit on the warm side. Our son is away this week so we're picking up the 2 grandsons at camp and daycare and then taking them home for dinner until our DIL gets home from work between 7:00-8:00. That will be our routine through Thurs. It'll be nice to spend some time with the boys.

I usually do the daily Wordle puzzle, but sometimes one is just not enough. Just ran across one called Wordler that's pretty much the same thing, but you can do as many as you want.
    Wordler
Could add a little excitement to your Saturday night...
