Oh my, I've got an inner ear infection. I could hardly hear out of my right ear when I woke this morning. Luckily I could got an early appointment this morning with Janet's ENT. He said it was the right thing to do, to consider it somewhat of an emergency to see him. He said any sudden change to your hearing you should get to an ENT as soon as possible.

The ENT put me on steroids for the next 10 days. Great! There goes my diet, he warned me about an increase in appetite. Took me a year to lose 30+ pounds hope I keep my snacking under control on these steroids.

Also curious to see if I have any mood swings. I've heard some folks get nasty when taking steroids. So if I go off on some rant, I'll just blame it on the steroids.

    Oh, and I ordered a pair of those $20 bone ear phones. They were still on sale the morning. I can't hear a thing out of my Bose ear buds or AirPods. Maybe the bone phones will work for me until this clears up.
    I ordered a pair too.

    It just seems to me, that the use of dryer sheets / fabric softener somehow kills the absorbency of most fabrics .. when I wash dish rags / micro fiber cloths I use at the workshop, towels, etc, they just seem like they have a coating on them .. I don't like it so I'm looking for an alternative ..

    Ordered these just now ::

    Woolite 2 Pack Dryer Balls, 2.5 inches, Assorted : Health & Household (amazon.com)

    You're not supposed to dry microfiber cloths with dryer sheets because you're right, they loose their absorbency. After using dryer sheets for awhile take the lint catcher out of the dryer and run it under water. The water won't go through! I washed mine well with soap, put it back in and stopped using the dryer sheets.

    That's a good choice for the dryer balls. No lint problems. They might make your dryer noisy though as they bounce off the walls.

    dd and 4 yo gd have covid (I live with them). My daughter is fully vaccinated and she is so sick. Scary times, still.

    Hopefully the symptoms will pass quickly and they'll both be back to their normal selves. Don't know if increasing my vitamin C and D helped, but I did seem to get over it without much trouble.

    So sorry to hear that. (get it?)

    All jokes aside, I am glad you got an appointment so quickly. Yes, you can blame just about anything for the next 9 days on roid rage. I have had my share of prednisone. I am sure you will do better when you start stepping down on the dosage.

    I do not really experience the rage associated with steroids but now the appetite. It's like weed x 100. But looking on the bright side, you will more than likely get lots of stuff done around the house. When I am on it, I cannot sleep (even worse than usual) and I felt the need to start huge projects. That's just me. Steroids is truly a wonder drug and help so many ailments.

    My mom was on steroids for around 25 years. I don't know how she did it. It made her bones so brittle. She broke 2 ribs one night showing me she could still do sit-ups. My daughter was on it for two years when she was 5 for her Nephrotic Syndrome.

    Well, anyway, I am sure Janet will keep you in line so you have nothing to worry about. You just feel better and get better.

    Since I am on a "sharing" tangent, I just got dad back in bed. He fell again a little after 1. Elbow bandaged again but thank goodness, nothing was broken. He is so lucky.

    I thought I was sweating because of having to get him up but I looked at the thermostat and it was 77 degrees in here. The air finally came on a little while ago and I think I will survive. It is bad to be so spoiled by A/C.

    Since the adhesive did not seem to help, I have been putting white vinegar on my poison oak all evening and between that and the heat, I look, smell and feel like an Easter egg.

    Good morning.

    I woke up to find that the da_n squirrels ate all the flowers off my sunflower plant! Arrrrrrrrgh!! I even soaked the seed feeder with Uncle Gus's Squirrel Repelent. I'm about to fire that hawk for not doing a better job. When he comes around it's the only time the squirrels disappear. Maybe I need to find a fake hawk statue to mount on the railing, but I'm betting the squirrels figure that out right quick.

    I've gotten interested in a new series on FX, The Old Man, starring Jeff Bridges and John Lithgow. It's based on a book of the same name written by Thomas Perry.
    I don't seem to have re-read that one since I got it in 2017. Now I have to read it again to get ready to watch the series (assuming I can get it on some service I subscribe to*). It was a pretty good book, like almost everything Perry has written. (I particularly like his Jane Whitefield series - 9 books so far - Now that's a series that could found a franchise; a good lead actress and it could really go places.)

    =============
    * A bit of research later: I can get it on Amazon Prime at $15 for the entire series. Decent price for 7+ hours of programming. The last episode will air on July 21, so I will leave myself a note to buy it and begin watching it then. I can't stand waiting a week between episodes; waiting until the next day is almost too much.

    Hola .. :)

    Perhaps not quite on the topic of the wily squirrel .. however ::

    Some years back, prior to resorting to escalating more drastic measures, I was bound and determined to minimize or eliminate the raccoon / ground hog / possum issue in and around my slice of America ..

    To that end, I looked for natural repellents and found the sage advice of 'Human Urine' spread around the perimeter .. I then dutifully pee'd into an empty gallon milk jug whenever I had to go until, er, I had a gallon .. then, pouring that into a pump sprayer and spraying around the perimeter ..

    Suffice to say, either my urine was ineffective for some reason or the critters were already savvy to that trick ..

    Losing ..

    Know any hairdressers? They say human hair will repel groundhogs but don't know about the other two.
