Just been busy chasing down my Fedex Delivery. This could be a long story with diversions.

A couple weeks ago Biden started threatening Winchester to stop selling surplus ammo made at the Lake City, Utah facility.

Background. The Lake City facility is owned by the US Government and currently Winchester has the contract to run it and produce all the ammunition for the US Military. To make some extra money and to keep the cost down for the Government's production. Winchester runs extra shifts and sells the surplus at retail. This allows them to buy in even 'bigger bulk' the raw supplies to keep the cost lower for the Governments supply.

Well, it's good ammo made to Milspec standards so a couple weeks ago I bought a case from a place in TN. The shipped it 'Adult Signature Required' using Fedex ground. No problem I've done this many times before, except this time it was to arrive last Friday and I wasn't going to be home.

So, I used Fedex's Delivery Manager feature on their website and had the package diverted to a Fedex store in town about 10 minutes from me.

Friday morning I get and email at 8am from Fedex saying the package is on the truck and expected delivery by end of day. Keep in mind the Fedex ground depot is 20 minutes from my house and 15 minutes from the Fedex store (a full service Fedex store, not retail store that handles Fedex shipments, a real Fedex facility). Friday afternoon I get another email from Fedex saying the shipment is delayed and will be delivered by 'next Wednesday'. What the heck, a 3 day delay for a 15 minute ride!!! Ok I'll wait it out.

Saturday morning at 8am I get an email from Fedex saying the package is on the truck, out for delivery by end of day. Saturday afternoon another email saying package is delayed, will be delivered next Tuesday. What????

Monday morning at 8am I get a Fedex email, package is on the truck out for delivery by end of day. Monday afternoon another email saying it's delayed and will be deliver Friday. A full week from the original delivery date.

I go the the Fedex store ... they can't tell me ....e about where my package is or when it will be delivered. The also claimed they don't have a telephone number to give me for the Fedex ground depot to call them to find out what's going on. Come on ... they must have that number.

I call 1-800 Fedex support ... (no one there speaks good English) and I get nothing but a run-around with no satisfaction. Only suggestion is to call back if I don't have the package by Thursday.

Tuesday morning at 8am I get a Fedex email, package is on the truck, out for delivery by end of day. Tuesday afternoon, another email, package is delayed, will be delivered Thursday. I go to the Fedex Store again an inquire about what the F is going on. I get nothing from the clerks other than to call 1-800 Fedex support.

Another call to 1-800 Fedex support, this person speak English a tab better. I told the package is being refused. What??? Who's refusing it, I've didn't and I've never had a Fedex driver at the house or a note left or anything. and I get the issue escalated with a real Case# and a promise that since it now has a case number it will definitely be tracked.

Wednesday morning at 5:25am I get an email, package on truck, out for delivery by end of day. Hold on now, coming to the climax. At 8am I get a phone call from William at the Fedex Ground depot saying the store is refusing to take the package. He was alerted to my problem because I actually got an official case started last night. He asks, do I want him to hold it at the depot for me to pickup or should he have the driver deliver it to my house. No brainer decision for me. I know where it is now. I said hold it there, you're 20 minutes from me, I'll come pick it up.

Still mighty tee'd off so tonight I call 1-800 Fedex support to register a complaint. Turns out the Fedex store I had it redirected to won't accept 'Dangerous Packages'. I knew they won't handle Hazmat packages but Ammo isn't Hazmat. Seems it's up to individual stores to accept or reject 'Dangerous Packages' depending on their insurance and training by their employees.

All I know is that Fri, Sat, Mon, and Tues the driver tried to drop it off and the store refused to take it. Someone should have called me, either the store, the driver, or the Fedex Ground depot. And, the Fedex website should not have allowed me to redirect the package to be held there. I even got a confirmation email indicating it would be held there.
    Just, Wow.

    Morning, misfits.

Sounds like a real "catch 22" Mike... Yeah, letting you ship it where they won't take it isn't real smart...

Moderate temps and dry continues here, good for yard work, and there's lots of that.

    Hola .. :)

Sorry, man .. I lost track of how many times you drove to the facility .. with the current 'liquid gold' at the pump, there goes a few shekels ..

I'll refrain from citing my 'Wine Thru the Mail' story .. but, it's almost as bad ..

EDIT :: I'll add, I could not find the 'sad' emoji, but it's one ECF needs to include ..

I never shipped ammo, but shipped a lot of other hazmat. Ammo would be a 1.4S explosive (Consumer fireworks are 1.4G explosives), and only a few FedEx facilities are allowed to have any explosives on premises. I'm not surprised that you had to go to the big facility where they keep the trucks to pick up your package. I'm also not surprised that the robot let you try to divert the package to the store because the bot wouldn't have known it was a dangerous goods shipment.

I will fault the FedEx depot for not calling you the first time the package was rejected by the retail store. Your contact info should have been on the waybill, and normally FedEx wants to be rid of the dangerous goods ASAP. They should have called you to come get your box and not even taken it out again the next day.

If you happen to have another issue with an ammo shipment, try contacting the Dangerous Goods specialist with the shipping company. They might be more helpful in getting the matter resolved.

I'm back home tonight. Left on Wednesday for our daughter's house to watch the boys on Thursday. When she woke the 3 yr old up in the morning he asked, "Mommy, did you blow my nose?" "No, why?" she asked. "Because there's no boggers in my nose!" The kid is a riot.

Oh, thank you. Good wishes from anybody is always welcome. Stretches out the celebration!

Good morning, All. I've not been sleeping lately, so when I do get to sleep, I really hate it when something stupid wakes me up. I don't really know what time I went to sleep; however, I do know what time I woke up. As usual, I had fallen asleep at my desk, and I woke up when my chair fell over and gave me a big goose egg on my forehead. The thing I really hate about it is a real challenge getting up in the small area behind my desk chair and recliner.
I'm going shopping when the stores open. I'm a bit tired but I'll be up to par layer on. I just need to get my coffee level topped off.

Oh geez. You're lucky you didn't hit anything important on your face! Glad it was only a goose egg. Ever seen the size of an ostrich egg?

About 40 minutes before our daughter got home from work today I got a phone call from the fraud dept at my bank. Did I use my card in Atlanta GA today? No, I'm not in Atlanta. Well, to verify who you are we'll need your full cc number and expiration date. They already had the 1st 6 digits and my home address. If they're from my bank why don't they already have the info they're asking for? Let me talk to your manager. He gave me the same run around and said if I wouldn't give them the info the charges will stand and I'd have to "step into the bank branch and take it up with them. The bank closes in 20 minutes and I'm out of state. The guy hung up on me. I called my bank and was on hold for 40 minutes before hanging up. Don't have my computer and don't do banking on my phone. Meanwhile Mike is sitting in the doc office trying to make calls to the bank for me and texting me on his lack of success. I found a fraud number and they confirmed the call was bogus. There were no charges listed for Atlanta so I told them to kill the card. :-x:-x:-x:-x
While all this was going on the boys were running around like lunatics, all excited because I said we'd go out for ice cream when their mom got home and she'd already been home for 1/2 hour.

The good news is we did make it to the frozen yogurt place. Pretty cool. You fill your cup with whatever flavor you want and then hit the HUGE toppings bar. They weigh the container and that's how you pay. Definitely would go there again, rack up the calories and today it was just the ticket to calm down my emotions from cc fiasco.

I've mail ordered ammo for years and until this shipment it always arrived at my door with no 'Adult Signature' required. I think this is the 1st one I've done this year and I don't know if it's a new requirement for 'Adult Signature' or if it's just the policy of the vendor I bought from. It's the 1st time I've used them.

When I called the vendor they were stymied also and said they didn't have a way of contacting Fedex to find out what was going wrong.

Shipping ammo is definitely not considered a Hazmat shipment but like you said it is considered Dangerous Goods. The shipping box has to be marked with a triangle with two black marks in two of the triangles corners. This replaced the 'ORD' that used to be required.

If I just stayed home on the original delivery date to sign for it none of this would have happened. But indeed Fedex screwed up ... someone at the Ground Depot or the Retail Store should have contacted me.

I drove past the Fedex store today and a phrase from the Our Father Prayer popped into my head, so I'm now at peace with the whole fiasco. "... and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us ..."

Hey everyone. I imagine y'all know I have been rather busy. I cannot seem to catch up on the sleep I lost in the hospital. I have had to give dad an antibiotic every six hours and thank goodness the last one was last night. He cannot help getting up so many times but it takes me so long to go to sleep that by the time I get almost there, he is needing me.

His back is really bothering me. I will be glad when Tuesday gets here because he has an appointment with his primary doctor.

His back might be in bad shape but he had me get him on the mower today and he mowed half the yard. He would not let me use his mower or borrow my aunts so I push mowed for 8 miles today. I would have finished the yard after the sun went down some but it was nice seeing him want to do something and I really think it may have helped him mentally.

Yesterday morning he was convinced it was 10 o'clock at night when it was morning. I showed him his clock that displays morning and evening. I opened the drapes to show him the sun and he still could not understand. He started getting angry and telling me I was too stupid to understand. I was almost in tears. Not because he was upset with me but because he was so confused. It is so scary. Later on, he was fine.

I cannot believe it is July 1st and the year is half over. Oh my gosh, it is going to be Christmas before I know it. No wonder I am getting old. Time is going by too fast.

I will check back in as things slow down. You know I have been busy when I'm still reading the book I started before dad went to the hospital a week ago. Sheesh!

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

I just got to the point some time ago that I saw no reason to drag the leftovers home .. they just generally ended up trashed anyway
Well I try my best not to throw any food away but that is the reason me and dad always split a meal. We have plenty and I enjoy the food more.

If I cannot eat it in 3 days, the fox eats it so I still do not think of it as wasting food.

As usual, I had fallen asleep at my desk
I am so glad that you were not hurt much worse. After seeing what dad did to his ear falling out of the bed, it is scary.

I have my laptop in bed with me. (I don't think you are supposed to have electronics around you but. . . whatever) It works out well because if I finally do get the least bit sleepy, I can just roll over.

Thanks again, you also just reminded me that I have to get my Honda inspected this month. Did the battery charge up okay? I cranked dad's vehicles today and let them run for 15 minutes. I guess once a week is enough.

I couldn't sleep because all the dreams/hallucinations I had while under anesthesia started coming back to me tonight.

Wow! I had forgotten most of them. Some of them are pretty cool. Some are more horrific than cool.

I finally started getting out of the house and taking walks. But I can only do it when I have a grandchild willing to pull my oxygen tank while I push my rollater. I walked about half a mile on Wednesday and about a quarter mile today. I'm amazed.

I can walk short distances just fine. But, for longer distances (relatively speaking) I need the rollater so I can stop and rest. I've been going out too late in the mornings. I have to walk from shade tree to shade tree, then rest for a few minutes. It works out great for my grandson. He's going to be in second grade when school starts back up.

I need to start leaving the house by 9 am so that I can stay out longer.

I'm finally starting to go through my pills to see what I have for myself. Thirteen prescriptions! Plus a few over the counter meds (like baby aspirin, iron, and fish oil). I appreciate my daughter taking care of it for me. But, hopefully she's ready to trust me to do it for myself. It was really confusing with my old prescriptions, the prescriptions from the rehab hospital, and then my new prescriptions.

They've changed quite a bit. But, at this point I've gotten set up with both kinds of doctors and have my current meds all organized again. Ready to start fresh.

I feel silly making a fuss over such little things. But, for now that's what I got!

Good morning. Gonna be a hot, humid day here today. Supposed to feel like it's 100. Ugh. So, that means I need to do inside stuff. I'd gotten rotisserie chicken so we're having chicken salad today. Yumm. Love having a container of that in the fridge for quick meals.

@Rat2chat2 I think you get the prize for being the best daughter ever! Please take care of yourself too though. We'd like to keep you around for a long time!

@DancingHeretik Sounds like you're doing great! Does at least one of your docs have a list of all the meds you're taking? Sometimes the docs order meds not realizing what other meds you're already taking. It's good to evaluate that regularly.
How wonderful that your grandson gets to take you for a walk! That's a very important job and isn't it nice to have some "you and him" time together? I find the grandkids are so different when it's one on one and it creates memory days for you both.

Good point. I doubt if anyone at Fedex was trying to inconvenience you. Just a poorly thought out system for dealing with shipments of this type. Forgiving relaxes some pretty unpleasant internal stresses.
