Morning, misfits,

I can walk short distances just fine. But, for longer distances (relatively speaking) I need the rollater so I can stop and rest.

And over time, those breaks will be longer and longer apart!

Still nice here, although warming up a little. Still dry, yeah, must be August.

I couldn't sleep because all the dreams/hallucinations I had while under anesthesia started coming back to me tonight.

Wow! I had forgotten most of them. Some of them are pretty cool. Some are more horrific than cool.

Hola .. :)

You're a good writer .. grab some paper or a keyboard and write .. it's surprising how cathartic that single activity can be ..

Since the Pandemic peak, I think I've mentioned previously that I've drifted more and more toward Amazon Prime for various things .. I don't know if any of the items I'm getting ready to post appeal to anyone but me, however, currently, there are some 20% additional discounts on Subscribe and Save items as well as the usual discount if you subscribe to 5 or more items that qualify .. you can cancel any Subscribe and Save items after you get your first delivery, easy peasy ..

Like I said, these are things I like and use, however, it may be worth a browse thru the Subscribe and Save grocery section to hunt down some deals .. I don't know how the weather is in your area, but it's frying here in Fly Over Country and thusly, makes it a good day to hang under the AC ..

I'll also mention, if I have not already, that you can bag a free $10 Amazon Credit by completing 4 activities on Amazon prior to Prime Days .. also quite easy ..

Food Items as Follows :: I can't say how good a deal anything is, they all felt like a good enough deal to me and with the Subscribe and Save extra discount, I'm happy enough .. and nothing requires a USB cable, nor a trip to the Kroger where many shelves are still thinly stocked ..

Amazon.com : Hormel Chili With Beans 15 Oz (8 Pack) : Grocery & Gourmet Food

Amazon.com : Duncan Hines Easy Cake Kit Golden Fudge Cake Mix, 8.4 OZ : Grocery & Gourmet Food

Amazon.com : San Marcos Whole Jalapeno Peppers, 26 oz : Grocery & Gourmet Food

Amazon.com : Zatarain's Lemon Butter Herb With White Beans, 5.7 Ounce : Grocery & Gourmet Food

Amazon.com : Zatarain's Spanish Rice, 6.9 oz : Grocery & Gourmet Food

Amazon.com : Zatarain's Red Beans and Rice,Original, 8oz : Grocery & Gourmet Food

Amazon.com : McCormick Original Taco Seasoning Mix, 1 Ounce (Pack of 12) : Everything Else

How hot and humid is it today. When I got up this morning I stepped on the scale and was 171 lbs. At 8am I went outside to mow some of the yard and spread some mulch. I quit working at noon and came in for a shower. I stepped on the scale again and weighed 168 lbs. I'd best drink some liquids today and get re-hydrated. I'm sure that wasn't 3 lbs of fat I lost this morning. :?:

52 years ago today, Janet and I became Mr. & Mrs. I still remember a couple of the basic ground rules she laid out. 1. I don't get up and make you breakfast. 2. I don't iron shirts. There might have been more but these were at the top of the list.

Congrats on your anniversary! A few ground rules go a loooong way. The Hubs still has to mine every once in a while, I guess he wants to make sure they haven’t changed o_O Spoiler alert…THEY HAVEN’T

Four doctors walked in this morning and said they were going to keep him one more day. After their conversation with me, he is being discharged today. One of the doctors that have been dealing with me the last two visits told the others that I was more than capable of caring for him at home. He was quite impressed with the medical records I showed him. See? Being .... has its advantages. (along with a few not so good) heehee

Oh well, I just thought I would give you an update. I appreciate y'all for reading about me and dad. I know it is not something important to you but it is a big part of me and has been all my life. At some point, I can promise you that I will not be able to share what is going on with me. You will not want to know. View attachment 976826heehee

I am going to give them a little longer before I go to the desk and ask them if it is okay for me to remove his cath and monitors to help them get him discharged. I am quite the little helper and I am in git-r-done mode. If you do not hear from me, don't worry. I am probably still sleeping or singing in the shower. bahahahahaha

Hopefully you will be home soon…waiting to be discharged from the hospital is an agonizing wait. Five minutes seem like an eternity when all you want to do is go home and get some rest!

I love your posts and updates, but I am a bit slow at reading through posts most times. Doesn’t mean I care any less, just means I need to get on here more often!

I also care.

Congratulations.

Last night I was brought to tears. All the talks about headphones got me thinking about the set I have and how much I paid for them. I went to Amazon and did a search of my purchases. I had forgotten that I had bought a second pair to give to my daughter for Christmas. After searching the house, I found where I had hidden them. I thought I had cried all I could but apparently not. I know that tears will and do happen, it is all a part of the grieving process.

I hope everyone had a good Monday. Take care.

Well, for what it’s worth, I am shoving lots of virtual hugs through the internet for you. Grief is a process, for sure…and it sucks like no other.

Hey everyone. I imagine y'all know I have been rather busy. I cannot seem to catch up on the sleep I lost in the hospital. I have had to give dad an antibiotic every six hours and thank goodness the last one was last night. He cannot help getting up so many times but it takes me so long to go to sleep that by the time I get almost there, he is needing me.

His back is really bothering me. I will be glad when Tuesday gets here because he has an appointment with his primary doctor.

His back might be in bad shape but he had me get him on the mower today and he mowed half the yard. He would not let me use his mower or borrow my aunts so I push mowed for 8 miles today. I would have finished the yard after the sun went down some but it was nice seeing him want to do something and I really think it may have helped him mentally.

Yesterday morning he was convinced it was 10 o'clock at night when it was morning. I showed him his clock that displays morning and evening. I opened the drapes to show him the sun and he still could not understand. He started getting angry and telling me I was too stupid to understand. I was almost in tears. Not because he was upset with me but because he was so confused. It is so scary. Later on, he was fine.

I cannot believe it is July 1st and the year is half over. Oh my gosh, it is going to be Christmas before I know it. No wonder I am getting old. Time is going by too fast.

I will check back in as things slow down. You know I have been busy when I'm still reading the book I started before dad went to the hospital a week ago. Sheesh!

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

You are an amazing daughter, and I’m glad you able to take care of him! Just remember to take care of YOU, also…it’s easy to forget, but pretty important. Hopefully things will settle down soon and you can catch up on your rest!

I couldn't sleep because all the dreams/hallucinations I had while under anesthesia started coming back to me tonight.

Wow! I had forgotten most of them. Some of them are pretty cool. Some are more horrific than cool.

I finally started getting out of the house and taking walks. But I can only do it when I have a grandchild willing to pull my oxygen tank while I push my rollater. I walked about half a mile on Wednesday and about a quarter mile today. I'm amazed.

I can walk short distances just fine. But, for longer distances (relatively speaking) I need the rollater so I can stop and rest. I've been going out too late in the mornings. I have to walk from shade tree to shade tree, then rest for a few minutes. It works out great for my grandson. He's going to be in second grade when school starts back up.

I need to start leaving the house by 9 am so that I can stay out longer.

I'm finally starting to go through my pills to see what I have for myself. Thirteen prescriptions! Plus a few over the counter meds (like baby aspirin, iron, and fish oil). I appreciate my daughter taking care of it for me. But, hopefully she's ready to trust me to do it for myself. It was really confusing with my old prescriptions, the prescriptions from the rehab hospital, and then my new prescriptions.

They've changed quite a bit. But, at this point I've gotten set up with both kinds of doctors and have my current meds all organized again. Ready to start fresh.

I feel silly making a fuss over such little things. But, for now that's what I got!

Sounds to me like you’re doing pretty great…good to know you have a cute little helper, too!

This week has sucked. I’m glad it’s over, and looking forward to a long weekend. I need to mow mom’s grass tomorrow, if it doesn’t rain. We need it, but hopefully it will hold off until I can get the yard finished. The swelling and bruising on her foot and ankle have gotten much better, thank goodness, but they are still a bit sore.

Coworkers were talking about their weekend plans today, and I was actually feeling pretty smug about being old and boring.

Speaking of plans, I had to reschedule our vacation. The doc gave Hubs an estimate of when he could return to work, and it landed the week before we had planned to go to the beach. I’m sure his employer would be much less than thrilled if he came back to work for a week, then turned right around and took another week off! I feel like the doc might be being a bit too optimistic, but I didn’t want to take any chances. I had booked a condo through Vrbo, so I checked with the property owner and she had a cancellation and was able to move it up by a few weeks. :thumb: It will be hotter and more crowded, but at least we’ll get to go. Hubs is beyond bored and ready to get out of the house for a while, so he was thrilled. He won’t need full range of motion for three days of lounging around, so it should be all good. The property owner was so nice, and didn’t even charge us the higher “summer” rate for the new dates! She has fantastic reviews and I can see why.

I’m up way past my bedtime, so I’m gonna call it a night. The cat went to bed without me, but she is also pouting since I’ve been having to poke pills down her throat all week. Poor girl. I still have to figure out the inhaler thing - she has a few more days of pills to finish up before I head into THAT battle. I sure do dread it…
I hope y’all have a good night!

Good morning. Wow, stepped onto the deck to put the bird feeder out and thought I should go back in to get a snorkel. It's only 75, but the humidity is through the roof.

Morning, misfits,

Still on the cool side here, and the guess of 80 has been re-guessed to about 70. Better than being in the oven :)

Mugwort, my avi cat's brother (both long gone) was on pills for about the last 5 years of his life. Pill Pockets worked a charm, most of the time. He'd eventually get upset with those, so I'd cram it down his throat for the next couple doses, and he was happy with the pockets again :) Can't imagine getting a cat to use an inhaler.... maybe add some catnip flavor?

Hola .. :)

Surprise pop-up rain shower this AM, enough to cool things down and water that grass ..

I've decided it's way past time to either have a 2 weekend yard sale (not until temps begin to lower) and / or just donate the excess stuff .. so, I started the process of culling thru yesterday ..

I'm not a hoarder (he says), but I am a 'collector' (he thinks it sounds better) .. I ran across a couple oscilloscopes, a frequency generator and a few other Heath Kit items I built back in the Revolutionary War days ..

Nobody here probably knows or remembers Heath Kit .. these were not children's electronic kits .. you really had to put the time and effort into them .. I remember with the oscilloscopes, I had to send them back to Heath Kit when done in order to get them calibrated ..

Amazingly, they are still around today ..

I remember Heath Kits well. A couple of my friends way back then were all about building their own color television sets.

Me, not so much. I was challenged with weaving in and out the holes of the Tandy Leather kits yet alone pick up a soldering pencil.

Yep, I'm a collector too, does indeed sound better than 'hoarder'. I just got rid of a bunch of metal from the garage. Some true scrap and some still useable stuff. I had no idea how much tow chain I had and I ran across two scissor jacks and a screw jack I totally forgot I had. Then there were the 1/2 dozen lug wrench and old tire irons too. Now what to do with the extra room I have under the work bench in the garage.

Mike is proof that the saying is true: The more space you have the more you need. I don't think he's found an empty space yet that he didn't fill.

@Uncle Willie Never heard of a Heath Kit. I was more interested in playing baseball, climbing trees and riding my bike everywhere.
