It makes me crazy when people drive around with their turn signal blinking away.
Let me share something with you. I've got one of those witchy cars that starts whining at me when I cross a solid line while driving. Quite by accident, I made a discovery. If you put your turn signals on, it don't do that no more!

I would never tell you what to do, of course. You may use this new knowledge, or not. Just passing along what they now call "a hack". Use it, or not, as you see fit.

I once rented a Ford Explorer on a trip to Denver. While driving from the airport to our destination I found out if I crossed the 'line' without the turn signal on, the seat would vibrate. Needless to say I kept "crossing the line" to get that mini massage after sitting in the airplane seat for hours for the flight out there.

Hi, Lizards!

As of June 28th, I had been a whole year cigarette-free, and I forgot to celebrate! It’s not like I’d have hired a marching band or anything, but I’m still pretty proud. THAT being said, I just had to vape myself stupid to get through an AWFUL craving, the kind of craving that comes on when you’re super aggravated and full of rage, and it takes all your self control to NOT jump in the car and speed to the closest gas station for a pack of smokes. :-x

“Why?”, you ask (or maybe not, but I’ll tell you anyway lol)… I have a twice-a-year maintenance agreement with a local HVAC business. They come out to inspect and clean the heat/air unit, and just give it a good check-over. Well, they sent someone out today (after telling me just yesterday that it would probably be another week or so). They actually sent THREE guys out, which seems weird just for a maintenance visit. Anyway, one of them tells my husband that they needed to replace some kind of part (a “capacitor” of some kind, that I’m pretty sure they replaced on their fall visit because I was having issues at the time). And, now there is the most ANNOYING whistling sound when the AC kicks on. It was PERFECTLY FINE until they showed up, so I’m beyond aggravated. It seems the AC is kicking on more often now but running for shorter periods of time, if that makes sense. Ughhh, they are gonna have to fix this. Hubs can’t hear himself fart, so he thinks I’m being dramatic, but that high-pitched noise has me ready to snatch my own hair out. I have a bad feeling they won’t be able to come back out until next week so I’ll have to listen to that racket all weekend.

I’d already had a bad day at work because I had to get a new computer. The ethernet port died, and it was old anyway, so boss just bought a new one. I spent most of my day setting it up, downloading updates and software, and transferring what files I could from the old one. I am NOT tech-savvy and we have no IT department so it was a “DIY and hope for the best” kind of situation, which is nerve-wracking to me. Plus I had to stay late and got stuck in traffic because of the rain. It’s been a rough day all the way around.

Sorry I came in here and just dumped all my frustration, but I do feel a little better, I guess. Thanks for letting me vent! I’m out of gin and I have no smokes, so I guess I’ll just go to bed and hope tomorrow is better. I hope you all have a good night and a great Friday!

Good morning. Bright and sunny 66 here this morning, but a gray sky is part of the picture. Could have T-storms later today which wouldn't be a bad thing because we could use the rain.

Yesterday I had to do a quick stop at the grocery store for produce and somehow a rack of pork ribs ended up in my cart. I've been hungering for some for a couple weeks now so guess what we're going to have for dinner tonight!

Let me share something with you. I've got one of those witchy cars that starts whining at me when I cross a solid line while driving. Quite by accident, I made a discovery. If you put your turn signals on, it don't do that no more!

Oh no! Don't tell me you're "one of those!" And hey, you're not supposed to cross a solid line while driving unless you're actually turning. Doesn't that constant clicking of the turn signal drive you crazier?

Oh wow, sounds like you had one of those terrible, awful, miserable days yesterday. So sorry. I sure hope today is better for you. While you're stuck with the AC making that sound may it would help to have some background noise going like the tv or some music? Maybe there were 3 "technicians" because 2 of them were in training? Or maybe all 3 were in training? Yep, a sound like that shouldn't be happening so calling them to come out to fix it would be a priority. If it's really bothering you calling them more than once for an update of their arrival time might be helpful.

Hey, vent here all you want. As Willie said, writing things down is cathartic and we're a tough bunch. We can take it and maybe send some positive vibes your way.

Morning, bohemians.

Another sunny day here, with more on tap. Warming up as well, but still bearable.

Hubs can’t hear himself fart, so he thinks I’m being dramatic, but that high-pitched noise has me ready to snatch my own hair out.

Hola .. :)

Sometimes, weak hearing can be a blessing in disguise .. ;)

At any rate, since I'm sure most of you know that I tend to write (sometimes) whatever pops into my head at the time :: My dog is still somewhat skittish .. she'll bark in the backyard at about any noise and if my outside HVAC unit was 'whistling', she might just stand in front of it and, er, keep barking ..

If she's on my lap in the recliner and we're watching TV / and/or sleeping and I 'blow one out', she will jump up and start barking .. now, of course, my 'passing' is utterly and totally without odor .. (sure, man, you could clear a room or bottle it and heat your home) ..

My third wife simply did not care .. she would pass gas anywhere, anytime she needed to .. we'd be at a function and somebody would say 'Did you just fart .. ??' .. she'd look at them and say 'Yeah, so what, you got a problem with that .. ??' .. she was 120LB 5'3" absolutely stunning woman, yet she simply saw it as a normal thing .. I never understood it, and really, really had to contain myself from asking her to try and be more descrete .. o_O

Congratulations! The band should have shown up for free because, indeed, it is a big deal.

Good morning! Looks like we got the needed rain last night. Yay!

Gotta make some juice today. Tomorrow is supposed to be beautiful so our daughter should be coming with her 2 boys for a pool day. I'm hoping we can make an ice cream run to our local shop - a first for this season.

Just been busy chasing down my Fedex Delivery. This could be a long story with diversions.

A couple weeks ago Biden started threatening Winchester to stop selling surplus ammo made at the Lake City, Utah facility.

Background. The Lake City facility is owned by the US Government and currently Winchester has the contract to run it and produce all the ammunition for the US Military. To make some extra money and to keep the cost down for the Government's production. Winchester runs extra shifts and sells the surplus at retail. This allows them to buy in even 'bigger bulk' the raw supplies to keep the cost lower for the Governments supply.

Well, it's good ammo made to Milspec standards so a couple weeks ago I bought a case from a place in TN. The shipped it 'Adult Signature Required' using Fedex ground. No problem I've done this many times before, except this time it was to arrive last Friday and I wasn't going to be home.

So, I used Fedex's Delivery Manager feature on their website and had the package diverted to a Fedex store in town about 10 minutes from me.

Friday morning I get and email at 8am from Fedex saying the package is on the truck and expected delivery by end of day. Keep in mind the Fedex ground depot is 20 minutes from my house and 15 minutes from the Fedex store (a full service Fedex store, not retail store that handles Fedex shipments, a real Fedex facility). Friday afternoon I get another email from Fedex saying the shipment is delayed and will be delivered by 'next Wednesday'. What the heck, a 3 day delay for a 15 minute ride!!! Ok I'll wait it out.

Saturday morning at 8am I get an email from Fedex saying the package is on the truck, out for delivery by end of day. Saturday afternoon another email saying package is delayed, will be delivered next Tuesday. What????

Monday morning at 8am I get a Fedex email, package is on the truck out for delivery by end of day. Monday afternoon another email saying it's delayed and will be deliver Friday. A full week from the original delivery date.

I go the the Fedex store ... they can't tell me ....e about where my package is or when it will be delivered. The also claimed they don't have a telephone number to give me for the Fedex ground depot to call them to find out what's going on. Come on ... they must have that number.

I call 1-800 Fedex support ... (no one there speaks good English) and I get nothing but a run-around with no satisfaction. Only suggestion is to call back if I don't have the package by Thursday.

Tuesday morning at 8am I get a Fedex email, package is on the truck, out for delivery by end of day. Tuesday afternoon, another email, package is delayed, will be delivered Thursday. I go to the Fedex Store again an inquire about what the F is going on. I get nothing from the clerks other than to call 1-800 Fedex support.

Another call to 1-800 Fedex support, this person speak English a tab better. I told the package is being refused. What??? Who's refusing it, I've didn't and I've never had a Fedex driver at the house or a note left or anything. and I get the issue escalated with a real Case# and a promise that since it now has a case number it will definitely be tracked.

Wednesday morning at 5:25am I get an email, package on truck, out for delivery by end of day. Hold on now, coming to the climax. At 8am I get a phone call from William at the Fedex Ground depot saying the store is refusing to take the package. He was alerted to my problem because I actually got an official case started last night. He asks, do I want him to hold it at the depot for me to pickup or should he have the driver deliver it to my house. No brainer decision for me. I know where it is now. I said hold it there, you're 20 minutes from me, I'll come pick it up.

Still mighty tee'd off so tonight I call 1-800 Fedex support to register a complaint. Turns out the Fedex store I had it redirected to won't accept 'Dangerous Packages'. I knew they won't handle Hazmat packages but Ammo isn't Hazmat. Seems it's up to individual stores to accept or reject 'Dangerous Packages' depending on their insurance and training by their employees.

All I know is that Fri, Sat, Mon, and Tues the driver tried to drop it off and the store refused to take it. Someone should have called me, either the store, the driver, or the Fedex Ground depot. And, the Fedex website should not have allowed me to redirect the package to be held there. I even got a confirmation email indicating it would be held there.

I was going to say “unbelievable” but unfortunately it’s not. My worst was with UPS leaving a package in the pouring rain at the front gate…and not ina plastic bag. Mind you the gate was open as required by UPS if we want the box left on the porch.

Good morning, Lizards - it’s rainy and overcast, but the sun is supposed to come back out this afternoon.

Thanks for the kind words about my vapaversary - I never thought I’d make it a year without a cigarette. I wasn’t sure I’d get through a week, at first. If Hubs hadn’t started vaping, I’d honestly probably still be smoking. If he were to go back to smoking at this point, I could probably resist, at least I THINK I could. I hope I never have to find out. I have padded my savings account with what would have been cigarette money, and that is VERY motivating for me to stick with vaping!

I called about my AC on Friday morning, but they would have to check and see when they could come out and call me back. They haven’t called back so if I haven’t heard from them by Monday evening, I’ll call them on Tuesday. I think the woman that normally handles the office and scheduling must not work there anymore, and the guy that’s filling in isn’t nearly as good as she was. I guess he’s still learning. I know this time of year is really busy, as all this heat is certainly tough on an AC unit. My AC still works so I know the folks without it are a higher priority, as they should be. I have grown more accustomed to the whistling, so it’s not driving me insane at the moment, but I still grumble the occasional profanity in its general direction just to make myself feel better

I’m off to get ready for a trip to the post office and grocery store. I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday!

Morning, misfits,

More sun here, temps to be in the mid to upper 70s, 80s for a couple days after that.

I never thought I’d make it a year without a cigarette. I wasn’t sure I’d get through a week, at first.

Imo, that first one is the big one. Heck, I didn't even get a real mod until after my first. Like you, not sure it was going to work, and didn't want to sink a lot of $$ in if it didn't. Now, nearly at 10, despite the big stock against the FDA, yep, still saving money. And health :)

Good morning. Going to a sunny 82 today with lower humidity. Whew! Gorgeous day!

Looks like our daughter is coming here today with the boys for a swim day. Fun! Guess I'm putting off scrubbing the deck until tomorrow. Wasn't looking forward to that, but I was looking forward to getting some places touched up with fresh paint. Accu Weather says tomorrow will be "delightful" so maybe that's the day for it. Sounds like I'm looking forward to doing work. NOT! I'm looking forward to how nice it will look when it's done.

Good afternoon, all. I hope everyone had a good 4th of July. Fireworks are against the law in Oklahoma City, so they only go off from the 1st of the month. I didn't do anything except watch TV and read. I picked up a new ham radio and read the manuals. Yes, manuals. There is the quick start guide, the operation manual, and the advanced manual. Plus a few different YouTube videos. The more I read and tinker with this radio the more I like it.

Yesterday I had a friend come over and I grilled steaks, sweet potatoes, and asparagus. The steaks were a bit overdone, but the sweet potatoes and asparagus were great. This was the first real meal I have cooked since before Christmas.

79 yo today.
Happy Birthday! I hope you had a good day.

As of June 28th, I had been a whole year cigarette-free
Wow, one entire year! That is an event that should be celebrated. I hope it is one of just many to come.
