I never thought I’d make it a year without a cigarette.

Happy SMOKE-FREE!

Congrats to you. It is no small feat to accomplish, and you should be proud every year. Here to many, many more smoke-free years.

Good morning, all. I've had one of my tanks that had a problem with leakage. Finally, it got to me this morning and I dug into it. Long story short, one of the gaskets was doubled over. I went ahead and a fresh wick in it replaced the old gasket. Now I'm ready to start my day.

Our oldest son and his wife are visiting. These are the new grandparents with baby Carmen. They are attending a revival that a friend of his holds each year. It is a total win. They get a shot of God and I get to visit with them. One of the things I enjoy about them visiting is that they stop at a local gas station and bring me a large Dr. Pepper Slurpee. I was sitting in my recliner enjoying the Slurpee. I was enjoying it when all of a sudden, I was shocked by the Slurpee in my lap! I had dozed off. I guess that is to be expected when I've only been getting two or three hours of sleep a night for the past couple of weeks. Oh well, I'll get another one tonight.

I've been sitting here vaping on the tank that was leaking. A great vape and no e-juice on my hand. A simple little gasket and I have been cursing this tank for the past month. A simple gasket and no more aggravation.

I hope everyone has a good day, take care.

Morning, all.

Still sunny and hot here, although the claim is that it will be less hot tomorrow. We'll see :)

Good you got it working right. Yeah, sometimes we all forget the obvious ;)

Morning, all.

Another sunny day here, but at least the temp is back down where it usually is this time of year. Still dry, so all the gardens are thirsty...

So, after the early watering regimen, maybe gather up the latest cuttings and prep for another bon fire before the bans come it...

Hola .. :)

I don't know if anyone else has been browsing Prime Days on Amazon .. while I did order a few things, it seems fairly lackluster this year .. Today is the last day ..

I think the best deal going is the .99 cent a month streaming selections .. I took the Paramount+ sub and a couple others, started the prequel to "Yellowstone," "1883" last night and it seems pretty good .. I love a good western .. "1883" was never on cable, so I missed it during its run, but I am a big, big fan of "Yellowstone" .. It seems to me the streamers are putting more and more exclusive streaming only content out there in order to beef up subscriptions .. at the loss of regular cable .. makes sense, but you really have to pay attention and not end up shelling out full price month in and month out ..

Many of our 'so-called' leaders seem to be reluctant to call what's happening a recession .. to me, I think we've been in a recession for a time and no body wants to admit it .. they need to go back and revise that 1st of the year Social Security bump that seemed so nice at the time, yet now feels kinda paltry ..

Just as a reminder ::

Lord Bezos and our Friends at Amazon Prime are offering a great selection of streaming channels for .99 cents a month to $1.98 a month .. up to two months each ..

Scroll down to 'Prime Day Deals' to see the full selection ::

We had storms roll through last night, but they were mostly thunder and SO MUCH LIGHTENING, not much in the way of rain. The neighboring county east of us had it a lot worse…they had quite a bit of hail, and some of it was softball sized

I don’t have much else to report, which is okay with me. I like things to be quiet and boring! I hope you all have a good evening

Morning, all.

Back to the 80s today (and tomorrow), no rain. So slowing on the grass, down to only once a week :)

Of course, that also means a lot of the early bloom plants are in pruning mode, so the current goal is to get as much of that done and the bon fire lit before the bans hit. So, uh, soon!

I like POTUS Biden .. I feel that, as a politician, he's a relatively honest man and really, really wants to do what he thinks is right .. yet, at the same time, he is not an inspirational leader and, frankly, he's pretty old .. not that that's a bad thing, yet he never seems to be able to convey that certain energy many great leaders are likely born with .. that charisma .. that's why Hilary lost, in a nutshell .. she did not have it either ..

I also don't see any shame in not running for a second term .. step aside and let a younger generation take the wheel ..

I'd like to see Gavin Newsom go head to head with Ron DeSantis .. 'The Bi-Coastal Battle' .. two polar opposites slogging it out, the suave leader of the 5th or 6th biggest economy in the World vs. the Brawler that even looks like a Brawler ..

I'd rather see some candidates from Wyoming, Idaho, South Dakota, Indiana, Kentucky and states like that, that are possibly not caught up in the elitism and polarization of the 'East/West Coast' crowd. Bring the candidates and the election back to the 'people' not the extreme biased left vs: right crowd that appears to be taking our country into the toilet.

POTUS might be a nice guy but I don't agree that he's a good president. And I don't think he's doing what he wants to be doing. I think he's more a puppet of the power structure surrounding him.

I think, maybe, around four years ago, I locked in a good rate with a retail electric supplier .. these outfits are like the old telephone places that would sell cheaper phone service back in the day ..

At any rate, my deal ends in October and I cringe to think what my electric cost is going to do .. I did speak with the supplier and they indicated the current rate is about 3x what I'm paying now .. I can lock in another 4 years, yet if electric prices go down, they won't adjust my price if I'm in a contract .. I can wait and see what the market does for another couple months and roll the dice ..

Conundrum ..

Yes, electricity is a commodity. Some years back the "market" was opened up, allowing consumers to buy their power from more than just the local outfit. "Your" supplier may not be local, just on the grid somewhere, and pays your local outfit a "wheeling fee" so they can bill you for the power that, probably actually comes from the local outfit :) Yep, sometimes it can be cheaper that way, and also yes, concerns about locking in a rate that may turn out to be high...

Our power is on a local co-op, which has a long term (and bulk!) contract with Bonneville. So I pay my co-op, they pay Bonneville, and Bonneville pays Tacoma Power to use their lines. The actual electrons come from about 10 miles away, the hydro electric project I'm retired from. Yep, Tacoma Power :)
