Hi, Lizards! I hope you all are having a lovely Sunday. I have been lazy this weekend, doing only the necessities...I’ve had very little motivation. I figure a little laziness now and then is good for the soul, so I’m just going with it.

My uncle died last week. I think I may have told you a bit about him - he was the one who told me a lot about his time in Vietnam. He had a huge aneurysm that the docs couldn’t repair. He lived with it for over two years, but it began to leak a lot, which put a lot of strain on his heart until it just gave out. My cousin said she knew it was likely the end because he didn’t even smoke a cigarette that day at all. He had some very tough years, but ultimately he had a good life. At least he is at peace and no longer in pain. He drank coffee 24/7, black coffee strong enough to “put hair on your chest” as he liked to say. He was a very hairy dude, and I spent several of my younger years being convinced that coffee really would do that to a person lol. He had a sign on his front porch that read “Enter this home with love in your heart, or leave it with lead in your ....”. He would absolutely make good with that threat, but he was also a softie who taught me how to roller skate when I was little. He is certainly going to be missed.

I think we are in for quite a bit of rain this week, some of which could come down as freezing rain Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. If it does, I hope it won’t be much. We had a terrible “ice storm” in the early 90’s that still makes me get nervous when I hear “freezing rain” in the forecast. Fingers crossed that it will be uneventful!

I hope you all have a good night

I had to chuckle at that because I remember being told that as a child about different things. I believed anything I was told. I sort of still do.

Good morning. Another gloomy day, but it's going up to 55 and we might see some sun for a few minutes. Our 6 yo grandson is home today so his teachers can commiserate. Having the boys in different schools means different schedules which can make havoc of our schedules. I'm glad they only have 2 kids to keep straight.

This Sunday we're having a birthday party for the 4 year old. His b-day is Dec. 29 so they decided to have the party in Feb to get away from the holidays. Jungle Jim is coming to the house with snakes and alligators. Can't wait. I hear he's pretty entertaining. He just better not try to drape a boa on me!

It makes me shiver just thinking about your cold weather. We had 8 below a couple weeks ago and it was weird I think the last time it was that cold was in 1985. Have not seen the first snowflake this year and if I don't, it will not bother me in the least. I am so ready for Spring. View attachment 989350
I think the almanac said we were going to have a wet winter here and so far that's been true, but I'd love to see some snow! In my perfect world we'd have a month with 3' of snow and then it would all melt and Spring would happen. By-the-way, 49 days until Spring!!
Someone was looking for a grabber tool awhile back. Maybe @Bronze , here is a good deal on one:

We've got 2 small grandsons so we have 3 of those things! They're so helpful. The trick is to find them when we need them.

So sorry to hear about your uncle. I'm so glad you have good memories of him to comfort you.

We were told that too. I pretty much believed everything I was told so when my mother told us to make sure we cleaned our ears good I obeyed because I didn't want potatoes to grow in there!
Mom also told us to eat our lentil soup because there was a special lentil in there that would make our cheeks rosy. Don't think I ever did find it.

Morning, all.

No rain continues, and the clear skies mean low temps. 21 overnight, but they do claim we'll get above freezing during daylight hours. Uh huh.

Mom also told us to heat our lentil soup

Otoh, I can't see eating cold lentil soup!

Very funny David - I fixed it. Don't think she'd ever get me to eat unheated lentil soup!

We had a beautiful day here. Sunny and 65. It is just a tease because I feel the rain moving in. That is the best part of going to the gym. I don't have to hold that darn umbrella walking like I have done so many times down my street.

Hope everyone has a terrific Tuesday.

Well, it is a cloudy day here but I will not let it deter me.

The coffee was so good this morning that I had to go back for seconds. I am already excited that I will be having a spaghetti dinner at the church my friend takes me to on Wednesday's.

It has turned into a weekly activity and I look forward to it. So far, he has asked me every week (the 91 days we have been dating) if I wanted to go. I am not sure what I will do if one week he does not. I am pretty sure though that I will just GPS's my rear end and take myself out on a date. I like to think I am helping the church and being charitable but in all honesty, the $5 meal calls my name loudly.

The church had a spaghetti dinner last night and it was delicious. It must be a favorite because there were the most people there that I had seen.

Terry must like the Friday dinner/movie nights because he ask me tonight if we could do it again. This will be the 3rd time in a row. Not sure what I will fix but I don't mind cooking one night a week. I can handle that.

I know I am not going to buy any more of those Snicker Brownie Bars. It was a pack of 6 and I ate them all. I have no willpower when it comes to stuff like that. (or cheese either)

It is already raining here and calling for it tomorrow too. We have had more rain lately. That's better than snow though.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Morning, all.

Still cold and clear here, the guessed at rain is guessed to stay north, and be light even there.

Good sunny, chilly afternoon. Yep I said sunny … haven’t seen it for weeks. Sure helps offset the 36 degree temperature.

Conversely, even it it's sunny, any breeze at all any hint of warm is gone!

Plan to light off the first debris pile of the year. Probably need a coat on my back but not my front... It MAY get to 40, but the fire will keep one side warm

2 hours to put these 2 little cherubs to bed. Sheesh! I can't be a drill sergeant because either one, or god forbid both, of them would go into meltdown mode because they want their mommy. So, we make it fun with just enough tickling to get them ready for bed and books. By the time they're falling asleep so am I.

Our high tomorrow is going to be 29 and windy which means freak'n cold! Going down to 13 at night which is ok as long as I don't have to be out in it. No surprise that our groundhog wanted to stay in his burrow today. If we're not going to have any snow I vote for Spring to start sooner rather than later.

What is up with the minimal posting around here? I hope that means everyone has a more exciting life than me.

It has become a Fri-Yay night thing but I am doing dinner/movie night again with my friend. He wanted to bring something but I told him I wanted to cook. It's more fun when it is not expected. heehee He is so o'l school. He said that was fine but give him the receipt so he could pay me for it. I am sure there are still guys around like him but I just have not run across many in my lifetime. It is nice.

I used to take my aunt a plate of food when I made meatloaf because she said it was so good so that is what is on the menu for tonight. I also like having slices frozen in the fridge for a quickie. I bought some fresh brussels sprouts too so I am going to air-fry them again since we liked them before. Going to serve with mashed potatoes and garlic cheddar biscuits.

I have apple strudel to bake while we watch the movie. The house will smell so good. (I hope) They say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach so you can't say I am not trying!

My cousin is coming into town this weekend so I will try to stop by there for a visit but other than that, I have nothing else. Anyone here got any exciting plans for the weekend? I'm never nosy, I'm inquisitive.
