Hola .. :|

Yeah, soon into the Pandemic, I became a devoted Amazonian, I had previously just made sure I had $25 bucks minimum order to get the free shipping and would periodically take a month or two of actual Prime .. when the Pandemic hit, I bought the year and have stuck with it ..

.. now, free fast shipping on a new iPad / Keyboard is one thing .. I mean, you did drop a little coin on that ..

What's amazing is ordering a toothbrush and getting it the next day with free shipping .. I'd like to know what kind of deal Bezos has with USPS ..

I'm not a corporate shill, nor do I play one on TV, but, if you look at the benefits of Prime in totality, it's one of the best deals going these days ..

In addition, I have a Prime Store CC linked to my purchases, so I get 5% back in reward credits on every purchase .. that 75" TV I bought a while back in and of itself, paid for a good portion of Prime for the next year in the 5% back ..
Indeed … even with 50 clams off each item it twasn’t cheap. But my old iPad was old … not IOS updates have been available for it for some time as well as most of the apps. And batt life was becoming ‘sucky’

Amazon: I bought 1 usb cable for a few bucks and even that showed up the next day, Janet and I use her Amazon CC do build credits on just a card.

Costco: We do pretty well with Costco rebates too. And then once a year they send you a real check. That‘s when we go shopping for some good steaks

Good morning. Well, this has been a heck of a week. On Monday a police officer showed up at the door asking for me. Sorry to inform you that your brother has passed away. OMG and how did you even find me? Turns out his landlord found him after the neighbors called. We've been expecting this to happen for years, but it's still a shock when it happens. So, this week has been busy making phone calls. He lives a good hour away so tomorrow Mike and I will be going down to clean out the room he was renting. Hopefully there is paperwork from his bank so we can go and find out if his car is paid for and what to do about notifying social security. Not sure if the car even runs.

Yes, his passing is upsetting, but given how he chose to live none of us are surprised it happened this way. The coroner said it would take up to 12 weeks for toxicology results to come back and a doctor to determine the cause of death. I'm having him cremated and then have him buried along with his wife's ashes at some point. The one good thing out of all of this is I no longer have to worry about him.

    Hola .. :|

Believe it or not, I remember your brother from years ago .. my brain thinks back then you had to do some sort of intervention, or maybe cough up some money for treatment .. ?? Can't remember for sure what it was ..

At any rate, his Demons are now at Peace ..

In years past, I've traveled some pretty dark roads, so, I know what it's like .. and, I have to say, some don't choose to live a certain way, sometimes it's beyond their control / mental issues / circumstances, etc

    Condolences ..

Oh, Janet, I am so sorry for your loss and since I recently found out about my sister passing through a text message, I know how that feels. I was estranged from my sister but it still can be a shock. She was not the kind of person I would have liked if she had not been my sister but I gave up trying to help her long ago. I am glad your brother is at peace now. Bless your heart. Big hug to you.

I will definitely go back to the Thrift store. They have such great prices and I'm always trying to save money. I just don't want to see my stuff again. Heehee

I still have so much to go through and pack up and get rid of. It gets so overwhelming. I wish I knew more people that could go through it and take what they want. I like giving stuff away.
For several years now I've had the Vietnam Vets to pick up the stuff we needed to get rid of. They take clothing and small household items. As long as 1 person can load it onto a truck. We just choose a pick up date online and pile the bags on the sidewalk and poof! It's all gone. It would save you from driving to the thrift shop and loading and unloading all the stuff. Then you could still shop there and not worry about seeing your own stuff in the store.
    Hola .. :|

Dippin' back down .. some of the other prognosticators are calling for even colder ::

    View attachment 992477
Those Spring "teaser days" of lovely weather always seems to make it harder to deal with the cold weather that always follows. But I see proof that Spring really is coming in 4 days. Flowers are blooming and i've seen robins! That's always exciting for me.
I don't usually join the conversations here, I do always enjoy watching the interactions. Sometimes, a seemingly small thing makes me come out of just reading. Congrats, Rat, you are todays winner. (can't get the smilies to come up for the confetti :) )

I lived through a pretty bad wreck a bit over a year ago. I haven't needed the stuff I bought to help me through the helpless period and my physical therapy for good long bit. I can't even give it away, and the secondhand shops around my area are loaded down with the same type of stuff. I think it's because most of it is covered by insurance of some sort.

I've told people I'm looking to rehome the medical supplies, and every single person has said, "you better save it, you might need it later". I'm ordinarily the person that saves big purchases, but medical stuff seems different to me. It's different than left over wood, yarn, thread, craft supplies (or that single screw you have left over when you put that kit together), where you'd be happy to reuse a stored item. Feels like if you keep it, you WILL use it again. I'm not really a superstitious person, but then again, I am in the medical profession, and have seen/heard about things people think are only a story, so there is that. :)

Things happen. I may need it later, but I don't live that way. I'm one of the oddballs too, and have finally come to terms with it. I'd rather give it away now, and have to rebuy, than to keep the bad juju in my house. But, sometimes you can't even give stuff away. Could take it for scrap, but that seems the opposite of what I want to do.

Anyway, good for you on giving stuff away, I do that too.
Oh man, so sorry to hear about the accident. I hope you're doing ok and not having lingering problems.
I kinda agree with you about the medical stuff. Why tempt fate by being prepared for the next catastrophe? As for the rest of the "stuff", most of the stuff we save doesn't get used after all and most of the time it would make more sense to go buy it if you really need it at some point. Why store it and clutter up your life? Somebody else could be using it.

O I recently found out about my sister passing through a text message,
To both of you, I am so sorry. It's so very hard to lose a sibling. I just lost my big brother, I'm next of kin so dealing with it all. Hugs to you both and your families.

Thank you and so sorry to hear about your loss also. In my mind, it seems like a simple process but they make everything so confusing (or maybe I just make it confusing).

Big hug to you and again, I am sorry for your loss.

Thank you and I'm so sorry to hear about your brother. It's hard enough to loose a sibling and on top of that having to deal with the arrangements. I think we all need a big hug!

I abhor using an alarm to wake up. I am so worried that I will not hear it for some unknown reason, so I wake up hours before it is set to go off so that does not happen. I have been this way for as long as I can remember. I did it when I was in school and again when my kids were in school.

Not sure what I will do after the tax preparation. I want to go shooting and I will definitely go to the gym at some point. Decisions, decisions.

I wore my new neon pink shoes yesterday and I think they may draw attention to me. I was in the $1.25 store last night and a young guy told me I had beautiful calves. I did not know what to say so I just said I walk a lot. I do not take compliments easily anyway but that was a first for me. He should have noticed the heart on my t-shirt matched my shoes perfectly.

I took this pic at the gym yesterday to show Cindy my new shoes. I love things that match!

gymshoes.jpg and yes, my little fan goes everywhere I go! I even stick it in my cleavage when I am walking outside so there is a cool breeze on my face when I'm reading. heehee

That fan is probably the most used purchase I have ever made from Amazon. It runs off of a 18650 battery. Low for 11 hours, medium for 7 hours, or high for 3 hours. It is awesome.

Make it a great day!

Just don't shoot your tax person until AFTER they've filed ;)

Oh man, so sorry to hear about the accident. I hope you're doing ok and not having lingering problems.

Still feels like exercise when I walk long distances (I could always just walk forever), but I still see improvements, so I'll eventually get there. What's weird is, what should've been my worst year turned out to be my best. Nobody else in the car was hurt.... 2 g-daughters and 1 dau. I was treated very well throughout my hospital stays. I saw the best side of everyone involved from beginning to end. And I got to go back to work 1/2 time (which was already part-time :D ) 6 mths and 1 week later. 1/2 time because I was able to pay off my house (very small and not much owed) from the settlement. My entire family helped every 'step' ;) of the way, which for some really surprised me. Other than losing my daughters' car, I wouldn't change a thing. I finally have a schedule I've worked 40 yrs to get, so hope to keep it til retirement in 7ish years. :)

    Thanks for asking :)

Hope everyone had a nice St. Patrick's day. I have no idea if I have any Irish in me and I really don't care. Green is not one of the colors I gravitate towards. I did not wear green today and not a darn soul pinched me.

I have already changed to the Easter theme on my phone, tablet, laptop and garden flag at the mailbox.

It is Friday night and the only thing exciting that happened to me was I found some cheese in the fridge that I didn't know I had. I also cleaned the kitchen sinks. It was running a tiny bit slow so I plunged it. It seems to be working better. If not, dad made me run the snake down just about every drain in this house. There is also a product called Thrift T-600. It is absolutely amazing stuff. A plumber recommended it so that should tell you it is good.

Yay! I had everything I needed to get dad's taxes done and the GPS woman guided me right to the place. I had a ball cutting up with the woman who prepared them and their coffee is exceptional. She is supposed to call me for lunch one day. I hope she does. It cost $479 to get them done but she gave me a 30% discount so it was only $334. So nice of her.

After the taxes were done, I headed to the gym even on a rainy day. I did not walk quite as fast as I usually do but I got my 10,000 steps in today and that was my goal. I also finished a book there. It was a good day in spite of the rain.

Well, since my Friday night was so exciting, I am not sure what I can do tomorrow night to top it.

Hope y'all have a great Saturday.

I have decided to take the weekend off like a real working person because I have been productive this week. When I plan this, it is usually when I work the hardest but I'm going to give it my best shot.

Since the gym is closed today, I decided I would do all my walking yesterday so I had 20,737 steps. I will let you know if it was a good idea when I wake up. I am 99.9% sure I will be okay since I walk so much.

I fixed another big bowl of chicken salad. I did not really want to eat it over a salad so I called my aunt and asked her if she had some white bread. She did so I took it down there and ate with her again. She raved about it and said it was the best she had ever had. Hard to believe she had never put grapes in hers. I put whatever is in the fridge. Today's was onion, celery, pickles, sunflower seeds, boiled eggs, some bacon bits and red grapes. I also put garlic and chili powder in just about everything I make. It ends up being rather filling.
    1YES.gif

After we got finished, I decided I wanted another ice-cream cone from Chick-Fil-A so I asked her and I swear she had her shoes on before I could blink. heehee I was too full to argue so I let her buy mine tonight and I did NOT get a drink with ice.

Their soft serve is only $1.69 which is the most reasonably priced item on their whole menu. I foresee many trips when summer gets here.

    Hugs to you all.

    Morning, lizards.

Well, 2 1/2 days of sun seems to be the limit, rain due back this afternoon.

Time to wrap up the packing, plan to start the trek south tomorrow morning. Hoping that I see only rain for the drive... but the chains are in the car.
