I bought another Coolfire Z80 (my 3rd). I got it today and was so excited that I filled it up and started using it before I noticed that they sent me the wrong darn color. I ordered Ash Grey which is sort of dark but they sent me Cloudy Grey. It is not a bad color but just not what I wanted. I am not sure there is anything I can do about it since I opened it. If I have to, I will just order another one and make sure it is the right one before I open it.

I love eating and evidently, I love my tooters too and you just can't have too many as far as I am concerned. Especially when I always match them to my outfits. View attachment 992862

Hope to read something from someone soon. If not. . . I'll be back and I never run out of something to say. View attachment 992860

So ’from where’ did you purchase your new Coolfire? At this point in time even if i we’re looking to get something new, I’d have no clue what vendors are still around and shipping products.

Worst thing in the world. 37 years ago the police woke me up in the middle of the night to tell me that my sister had been murdered by her estranged husband. They had been unable to locate our parents, who were on an Audubon campout in northern Michigan. I had to drive up to the area, find the campsite via local knowledge and tell them the bad news.

I came into the campsite and found my father out having a pre-dawn smoke. He took one look at me, and before I could say anything, said, "It was Paul, wasn't it." Four hours of driving and mentally rehearsing how to break such awful news, and he went straight to the awful conclusion before I could say a word.

Oh how awful to go through something like that.

Second leg done, despite 500 miles of rain. But no snow, so doable.

OK :) Although I've just been bombing down the interstate, no pics. (Heck, from what I've seen so far this time, just turn on the shower!)

Left home about 8:30 Monday, takes about an hour to hit I5 just south of Olympia. Then it's haul assets south on the interstate. Goal for the first day is always to get south of the Siskiyou range (Mt Shasta), where I'm most likely to hit snow. So some ways south of Redding. Made it to Willows this time, a bit more than normal (usually I crap out around Corning, so I made it an extra hour this time, about 11 hours on the road.

Slept poorly last night, but that worked out well? On the road again by 6 AM, so got to Needles earlier than norm. About 11 hours. That was I5 south to CA 58, which cuts east to Bakersfield, when it joins US 40. Up over the Tehacipis and Cajon pass, over to Needles. And spend the night here.

Tomorrow, short day, only about another 200 miles to go :) US 40 over to Topock, AZ, then south on a couple State roads, to I10 and clear sailing to Phoenix. (Actually, Glendale, a major suburb indistinguishable unless you know where the signs are :) )

Yeah, I could do it in 2 days (well, once upon a time!), but I'd have to wake up my brother when I got there, and probably collapse on the doorstep!

Hola .. :|

Thanks, man, I'm diggin' it ..

I've spent a goodly amount of time in Redding and the Mt. Shasta area ..

Road trip done, until the return :)

Got in about 11ish, after the "short" drive with no rain. Maybe the skies will clear up in the next week or so...

Yes, some beautiful country in that area, although I am a bit spoiled, living in the foothills of Mt. Rainier :) But all part of the chain of volcanos.. ;)

(IF the USGS prediction is right, when Rainier eventually blows, a side of it nearly 120 degrees away from us is the expected path. First hope, of course, is that it doesn't go in my lifetime. Second hope, barring that, is that they got it right!!)

I did not even look for a good deal. I just went to the innokin website. The kit that came with the tank was only $67 with free shipping. I wrote to Innokin support about receiving the wrong color but I have not heard from them. I am not going to get upset about it. I'm happy as long as I have one of my many tooters in my hand.

Don't you just love it when sleep comes in spurts? That's okay cause I'm going to have a good day.

I am expecting the delivery of 4 things today. Since I am always buying gallons of water, I found a pump that goes on a 5-gallon jug. I did not take into consideration how heavy that jug was until I bought one yesterday. Sheesh! I am glad I added weightlifting to my regimen at the gym. And picking dad up off the floor so many times didn't hurt either. heehee

powerful-mouse-ethow.gif

I have well water but I have never had it tested to see what is in it. It's clear and tastes good. Since I have the big jug now, I wonder if I could get out my huge pot and boil my water and pour it into that jug. I am forever trying to figure out a way to be frugal.

Your own water would be much cheaper. Have it tested.

That does make sense and I have thought about doing that. Last year they put city water down our dead-end street. I am thinking that soon we will be taken into the city and I may not have a choice. grrrr That means my property taxes will more than double too. I hate that and a good reason for me to keep cleaning out this house and move. I only have one move left in me so I better make it a good one.

    Hola .. :|

    On City Water ..

Many years ago, I filled a glass with tap water and held it up to the sunshine beaming through the kitchen window in late afternoon .. without the aid of magnification, I could clearly see there were particulates floating around in the water .. it was a clean glass, so the only reason had to be the water itself ..

Within days, I installed a filtration system and have diligently, from that point on, made sure the filters are changed as required .. when filters are changed, you can see the discoloration in the old ones ..

I don't have a whole house filtration system, since I figure it's drinking water that is the issue .. I'm not going to worry about washing clothes, bathing/showering, etc ..

Paranoid or not, I believe that the water systems in a large part of the USA are either suspect, borderline or out right bad .. this seems to hold true as many areas have made the news on the issue and many water systems are just old ..

While it may seem like a minor issue in the scope of other events, it is one of the things you can, at least, somewhat protect yourself against with a fairly minor financial outlay ..

    Stay safe out there ..

We're on a small well system, but owned by a public utility. State health requirements mandate chlorination...

So, yeah, put in an under the sink 4 stage filter, it's own little tap. Takes out all the chlorine, heavy metals, and a mess of other things. Yep, it's only the drinking / cooking water that's of concern :)

Brita is on it's own. 3 of the 4 filters in the system I got last a good couple years, the #1 filter, ceramic and activated carbon, lasts about a year at our consumption.

I was right. It ended up being a pretty good day for me. I went to the gym and walked and then went to the park and walked on the trail. I love walking beside a lake. The turtles were camera shy though. I tried a couple of times to get a picture of them and every time they would jump off into the water.

After that, I went to the gun range and did some shooting. I thought maybe the new glasses would help me hit the x but they did not. I try to aim at the x but I hit the center of the man's chest every time. I definitely need more practice but at least I know I am going to stop whatever or whoever tries to do anything to me. I think it might be because my hands are sort of weak. Maybe. Who knows. Maybe I need a gun with a laser. I used one of those last time I went and they were pretty accurate and really awesome.

Of course, before I came home I stopped and got myself another Slushie. I am really on a Slushie kick. That usually does not happen until really hot weather. I'm early this year.

Going to bed now with my sore little thumbs. They were hurting before I went shooting but worse now. Between the rain coming, arthritis, and shooting, there was no guitar/uke playing around here tonight. I will give my thumbs a rest tomorrow and I am sure they will be fine.

    Happy Friday to everyone.

Is it just a coincidence or did Amazon tell someone I bought a water pump for a 5-gal water jug? When I got home today there was an advertisement on my front door. Yep. About a smart water system for the home . I don't believe in coincidences very often.

I looked at my well water in the light and I did not see anything floating around. That is concerning about city water. I just might have to look into one of those water filter systems.

Yep. I used to brew lots of iced tea. From city water, it always looked kind of murky. I get my drinking water in 3 gallon bottles filled at a dispenser station. . . . clear as it can be. Something about reverse osmosis or something like that.

I may not drink the water I am supposed to but this o'l Southern girl drinks her share of sweet tea.

I have never really thought about the well water in my tea since it is boiled. Maybe I should try using bottled for that too. Humm?

The new pump thing I got works beautifully. I boiled the hose as they suggested but I detect a slight rubbery taste in the sip I drank of the water. I hope it will go away but glad I did not taste it in my coffee this morning. Now I'm thinking about those water filter systems. I need to get out of my constant state of "want".

The sun is shining but the rain will be here soon. I am going to try to go walk before it does and maybe come home, get another cup of coffee, curl up with a book, and take a nap. That's the plan. We'll see. My plans normally go awry.

Across the street from the shooting range I went to yesterday, there is a Mexican restaurant that I have eaten at a couple of times. So good. It was all I could do not to pull into their parking lot. I have been thinking about Mexican food ever since. I might stop by the store and get some ground turkey and make myself a taco salad. That sounds pretty good to me.

I am happy it is Friday for those who love them. I have nothing planned for the weekend other than laundry. There is just something so wrong with that. heehee

Hope everyone has a happy Friday!

    Morning, all,

It's always sunny in Phoenixdelphia :) But at least, so far, they've not dialed it up. Last few times I've been here, they set daily high temp records. Not very nice!

I have never really thought about the well water in my tea since it is boiled. Maybe I should try using bottled for that too. Humm?

The boiling will likely get rid of any bacteria, but won't touch particulates, heavy metals, things like that. We use our filtered water for most everything that's consumed. It does make a big difference on the taste of coffee, so suspect it also will for tea. But only YOUR taste test can tell ;)

Our day could have gone better. Met our realtor to see a house at 9:30 this morning. What a nice home and neighborhood. Definitely needs new rugs and windows - lots of windows and the kitchen needs some help. It's an estate sale so whoever bids highest is going to get it. No negotiating. And there's no disclosures so we'd just have to hope that an inspector would find any problems. Those things put it out of our price range so the search continues.

Our little guy sounds like he's got kennel cough tonight. Tylenol fixes him right up until it wears off. Maybe it's good that tomorrow will be a rainy day so he'll have to stay inside without having friends over and hopefully he won't have to miss school on Monday.

Torey, hope you enjoyed your taco salad. Always nice to get excited about a delicious dinner!

Hey, food is the only thing I've found to get excited over. heehee I really got excited when my cousin called yesterday afternoon and asked if I wanted to go to this Mexican restaurant with her and my aunt. Well, of course, I wanted to go. I have not had Mexican in a while so it was really good. Since I don't keep chips and salsa in the house (you know I'm willpower challenged) I attacked those chips like a wild woman and was full by the time my meal got to me. I had a pretty full to-go box to bring home. Now I don't have to worry about supper tonight either.

Hope the little one gets better soon and definitely does NOT pass it along to you and Mike. Fingers crossed.
