I got my third quote on the roof. Glad to see they were all pretty much in line with the price. It has a black roof now. The man I am going with also suggested two different gray kinds of colors. I am not sure what it would look like. Since I am used to black, I guess I should just get black again. It really doesn't matter because I hope I'm not here. With the black shutters, I guess the black would be ok. I tried to get Dad to paint the front door red. Of course, he said no. I think it would look good but then again, I have lots of black, white, and red in my closet.

After taking a break, I did 16,000 steps today. Being confused and getting all these quotes had me needing to walk. It really does calm me.

I left the inside light on inside the truck. I remembered doing that today when the battery was dead. Hooked up the charger and it cranked after I got back from the bank. Another good lesson learned.

Morning, all.

Still nice temps here, but also still dry. Plants are starting to look thirsty, so today is hose detail.

I got my third quote on the roof. Glad to see they were all pretty much in line with the price.

We had ours done a few years back, and the estimated were, well, all over the place. I think color depends on your locale. Lighter colors will assist with cooling, darker with heating. Which end (for you!) takes more energy? Go for the other color :)

Everything I am doing or going to do will be with resale in mind. Dad liked the black roof but it was hot. The man suggested two other colors and I do trust his opinion on what would look nice.

He is going to do it next Wednesday if the weather cooperates and said that it would only take one day. He was a very nice man. He required half for a deposit. I started to give him $6000 and I asked for a receipt. He said he would email me one. Well, you know that did not sit well with me and I told no, he would give me a receipt before he got the money. I was not being snarky and yes I knew he would email me a receipt. But what would have happened if he had had a wreck or something? There are so many things that could happen. I just think it is smart to get a receipt for cash at any time. I guess working for a bank for 12 years made me extra careful. It is actually just plain o'l common sense.

My aunt wanted to mow today which I did not think was a good idea. Her foot was a little swollen earlier today when I check it. Then tonight it was more so and a little dark around it. I told her daughter if it was my decision, I would let a doctor look at it just to be safe. Dad had cases that were cellulitis and that can be dangerous.

Well anyway, to keep her from doing it, I did all the trim work around her house, her grandson's house, and my house. I also mowed outside the fence at the street on all three houses. I am not complaining because I got almost 20,000 steps in today. What sort of made me ill was when I was finishing up, her grandson came out the door and was putting on his shoes. I sure hope I did not disturb his nap.

He did tell me tonight that he appreciated it but that is not the point. He knew his grandmother's foot was injured. He also knew the grass needed mowing. He is 30 years old and I think it is time he starts acting like it. I know I sound like an old fart but. . . kids, these days. Sheesh!

Sorry, but I got lots to tell tonight. . .

I got out my lawnmower and the belt somehow slipped off and the blades would not engage. Grrrr I guess now I will not complain about Dad making me put that belt on 3 times. I never understood what caused it but he had done it one time also. I thought I had retired from being a mechanic but I fixed it anyway.

When I am working in the driveway on equipment, I always leave my phone up in the garage so nothing happens to it. Well, Dan asked me to take a picture of what I was talking about and I laid my phone down and forgot about it. (entirely my fault) Well when I finally got the belt back on and it put back together, I wanted to try it. It does not do it in the grass but on the concrete, it will roll back a little bit so when it did, I ran over my phone. Dan said I can't believe you are not upset about running over a $1200 dollar phone. But what good would it do? It would not fix my phone or turn the clock back so I was not careless. Everyone knows I love my phone. I have not decided what I am going to do. I was planning on getting a new phone in February of next year and this year is already half over. I am contemplating just reactivating Dad's phone. It is pretty old but he did have a new battery put in it last year. I will ponder what to do later. I had rather save my money for something fun.

Not all of my posts can be funny (although I prefer that). Sometimes accidents happen and things are sad. Thank goodness I am smart enough to know that it is just life and you roll with whatever is thrown at you. Tomorrow is another day and things could always be worse.

I forgot to tell you about the real sweet woman down the street. She said her son could not get the wheel off her wheelbarrow so you know I carried it home and worked on it. She needed a new tire. I called her and told her I would go to Lowes for her and get one but I needed to know how much she wanted to spend. You have to laugh at this. She told me she didn't want to spend any money on it because she was planning to use it as a planter. So I came home and put it all back together and returned it. I would have liked to have had that little tidbit of info before I offered to fix it. But I tried to help someone so it was a good day. Trying. . . but good.

You darn right you get a receipt for cash. SIGNED. Not no email with no signature, neither.

I agree. I was really just shocked that he would even think someone would hand him that much cash without one. I really was not being snarky. I know snarky. I do it quite well when I feel it is necessary.

My gosh, it is Friday already. Guess I am going to try to get the yard mowed as soon as the grass dries. With all the trim work done, I would put money on my aunt getting out on that mower. heehee Never thought I'd be trying to get the jump on a 90-year-old woman that wants to mow my yard.

heehee The sun is shining already so it looks like a nice day. Hope that breeze is still here today.

In all my mishaps yesterday, I neglected to wish Fran a happy vape-a-versary. If my list is correct, that makes 13 years. I just think it is something pretty darn special. Being smokefree is awesome, but it also reminds me of the wonderful people I care so much about because of vaping.

Morning, all.

Really surprising, we're stuck in average weather (almost, need some rain to be fully there ;) ). Normal seasonal temps, what a novel idea!

Yup. I might allow only an email receipt for a check, but cash? Nope, need that paper trail!!

And sounds like a lighter color might be desired.

Good morning. It's a beautiful morning here even if it is a bit hazy. 55 now going up to 80.

We spent a couple hours yesterday at the new house with a carpet guy and a handiman. Now we wait for quotes. We also found out a Use and Occupancy permit was needed which is the responsibility of the seller. It was scheduled for 6/2, but looks like they did it already. Both bathrooms need the fan to vent outside the house, but there was a permit # making it look like it was approved. Not sure what that means. Waiting for the realtor to get back to me with an answer.

When we left the house we were feeling more comfortable that we made the right decision to buy this house. It's smaller than the house we sold so now we're going to have to figure out how to cram everything from storage into it. It'll be a challenge, but will force us to get rid of some more stuff. Yay! Now I can't wait to move in!

Still not done with the court requirements for my brother's estate. The cemetery sent me a letter stating that my parents are in fact buried there. Now I'm waiting for the doctor to send me a letter stating that my sister is living in a nursing home and renounces any claim to the estate. Evidently Durable POA documents that my niece sent is not good enough. Isn't this authority to make decisions what the Durable POA is for? Anyway, I'm hoping this last piece of the info will be enough and I can finally be named administrator and can be done with it all.

Meanwhile, I can get some chores done today and then can pack for the WWII event at the Reading Airport this weekend. We look forward to going every year. It's like stepping back in time and I love hearing the veterans give their talks about their experiences. This time we've got hotel rooms nearby so we won't have to make the long drive home after being out in the sun all day with the kids.
10"30 and big bombers flying over my house, heading your way. As an old usaf guy, I'd love to attend but the crowds are too much. I did get there back in the eighties I think. Now I just hang at home and watch bunches of old war movies, lol.
