Good morning. The sun is trying to peek out. Going to 80 today with 30% humidity and haze from smoke from the Canadian fires. Wow, the smoke haze reached all the way down to Delaware!

You know how a haircut looks just perfect until suddenly one morning it doesn't. Then you realize you're way past due for a haircut? Yep, that was me yesterday. Contacted my daughters friend last night when I realized I'd be too busy for the next 10 days to get my haircut. She agreed to do it at 12:30 today. This woman really understands hair. It always takes me about 5 cuts to break in a hairdresser, but she got it after the first cut. Even after we move I'm coming back to her.

I don't blame you. I have only been to a "hairdresser" a hand full of times but I never felt that way. My cousin is a hairdresser and is always fussing at me to get my hair cut and cover the gray I have started getting. She just shakes her head when she sees me now because she knows when I go out, I've been using a Sharpie to cover some of it. Laugh if you want, but even she agrees it is working for me.

It's strange but I only have some on top. With black hair, it's easy to see them and paint them.

Yes, I've been told I'm "unique".

Morning, all.

Only made it to 78 here at the house yesterday, but today is said to be a bit warmer. No rain. Maybe some for the weekend, but the maps shown suggest it will all be north of us. :(

Well, actually I have been treating my aunt and had to get me one, of course.

Well, of course. Shouldn't let friends drink alone :)

Hola .. :|

I started with my hair person over 30 years ago .. after a short while, all I had to do was sit in the chair and she knew exactly how I wanted it .. and, she gets it perfect every time ..

During the Pandemic times, she became unavailable for a year or so, and I had to resort to another .. it did not go well, even though I took a photo with me on how I wanted it .. it was slightly stressful ..

Mel was 25 when I started going there .. we pretty much know each other as well as you can, since the barber chair tends to be a confessional / gossip / news / opinion spot around these parts .. she's, I guess, around 56, 57 now .. two divorces and one engagement breakup later .. I watched her daughter grow up ..

She took a job working in a high end barber shop back East a while back, one of those $200 a cut places and is doing very well financially, we stay in touch ..

At any rate, she comes back every 3 months or so to visit her Mom and let's me know .. and, I get a haircut ..

I'd about cut my own hair with a Flowbee before I'd attempt to break in a new barber

The roofer man probably made a good call in waiting til tomorrow. It is dark and cloudy.

I tried melatonin last night and I think I slept more soundly. It could have just been the past week's lack of sleep though. The only concern I had was I woke up feeling more tired than I was last night and I have a bad headache. Something I really do not get often. I am hoping the coffee helps. I cannot even say it was the melatonin because I have had a little bit of a stressful week. It's not every day you realize you have a $1300 paperweight. View attachment 996680 I'm so glad I have "my" sense of humor. It sure helps me. heehee

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.
Oddly, I have found melatonin to be of exactly no help. Vick's Zquil works and so does the Kroger generic. Not sure if it leaves you tired the next day. Something sure does for me.

Shew! A busy day here. This morning we had to make an hour drive to our B&M credit union to setup a wire transfer to the title company for settlement on the house tomorrow. Then from there another hour drive to pickup our son's two boys from school. Then back to their house until 'Mom' got home from work.

It was pandimonium at the house ... Miles and Becket were on their iPads and Huxley and Brody (20 miles away at their house) likewise all playing the same game. Then Katie called Janet on the phone so the boy's could conversere on the speaker phone and keep tabs on who was were doing what in the game. Such a riot listening to them strategize on how to team up to beat the bad guys.

I tried melatonin last night
Melatonin kind of helps me sleep but not really. What? I sleep through the night but it's not a restful sleep. I have such vivid dreams in color it's like staying up all night watching movies. I can even 'step in' and act like the director and change the direction of the dream. Doesn't matter wether its a 3mg dose or a 1mg dose same thing.
one word :: Klonopin
That works for sleep but I dream a lot if I take that too. No where near as vivid or as much as with melatonin but enough that it's annoying to wake up at then end of each dream cycle then go back to sleep.

I used it for quite some time and then about a month ago my Dr switched me to Ativan. That seems to work well getting me to fall asleep and stay asleep without all the annoying dreaming.

But it's Xanax for the win ... but Dr's DO NOT like prescribing it.

We're under a Code Red air quality alert. The smoke from the Canadian fires has reached us. It very hazy and smells like smoke from something 'burning' . Tomorrow is supposed to be worse than today. A friend took this photo. Not a cloud in the sky just a thick haze and a red sun poking through.

Morning, all.

Yeah, reports of the eastern air look pretty grim. We've had similar in years past, but it's too darn early for big fires...

Only made it to 81 here at the house, and the claim is that it will be cooler today, and the heat wave gone tomorrow. Maybe some rain further north for the weekend, but probably not here. :(

Yeah, it made the 6:00 local news .. thought of all you East Coasters .. we've got a slight amount, no where near what you got ..

The good news is, everyone should still have a supply of masks .. ;)

We're home owners! Geez ... because it was a cash deal we only had to sign our name on one form and it was all done. The realtor said if a mortgage was involved there would have been at least 19 forms that have to be signed. Cash for win!

Now slowly over the weekend we'll begin moving out of Kate's place. Then Monday the movers bring our 'household' that was in storage all this months. Good we paid the premium for climate controlled storage or I don't know how the furniture would have held up through the winter cold and spring heat in a warehouse.

And I'm officially bushed, with lots to do ahead of us. We started the day by going going to Hux's kindergarten graduation. Then met Julie at the house at noon for a walk through. Then a drive to the listing realtor's office to do the 'one signature thing.' Then back to the house to unload my SUV in the garage. Then we met up with Kate and her family and Rachel and her boys for dinner at Victory Brewing Company. Quite a tasty dish of ribs with a mug of Philly Special Brew (a good tasting lager with 5.7% alcohol.) a few sips and I was feeling the effects.

We just got home a little while ago ... early to bed for sure.

It does help but my mother was addicted to it so I am very careful. All the doctors I have gone to about sleep issues love giving it to me. I have quite an outdated supply.

Got the roof done today and I personally think it looks great. After the quote he gave me on gutters, methinks I'll stop right there for right now. I'll power wash them and see if I can make them look better. He wanted $1800. Sheesh!

Going to be away again. Did not think a new adventure would come around quite this fast but I am driving to Ohio tomorrow. Going to go to Harley Drag races, ride his motorcycle, and stay in a haunted castle. Ain't no ghost gonna jack my joy!

I am so excited. You know I will have to tell you all about it. I know it is going to be fun. I can't tell y'all how happy I am that I am getting out of my comfort zone and starting to live.

On the way back from Ohio, I am going to stop in W VA to see my friend Liz that I have not seen in so long. She is going to be so surprised. Not sure yet but I might also stop by Paula's. She retired and now she has two baby miniature goats. She named them Thelma and Louise. That is so cute.

Y'all have a great weekend. I know I'll have all your good thoughts for safe travels. CYA next week.

Good morning. Yep, we're no longer homeless. Thank heavens Kate and hubby opened their home to us while we searched for a new house. About 9 months ago we started house hunting. Ugh! The market is awful. We were determined that our old house would pay for the new one and we finally managed to do that with most of our criteria met.

Yesterday after settlement we went to our new house and Kate visited with the boys. While wandering around the yard our neighbor came by to introduce herself and soon after another neighbor stopped by to welcome us. I've always been concerned about moving someplace and having problem neighbors, but these people seem genuinely friendly without being intrusive. They had very nice things to say about the previous owner of our house which was nice to hear.

At the walk through we found the previous owner left us a house plant with a Welcome Home card!! It was so nice and he said to say hi to the birds and the the deer for him, Yes! That's what I was sad to miss at our old house - specifically the birds and deer! He also left some soap and a small towel as well as tp in the bathrooms, some garden tools, appliance manuals, lots of keys and extra kitchen floor tiles. The house was very clean too. That kind of consideration was not what we found whenever we moved before. Except for the fact that our daughter is still very sad about us not living nextdoor I think the universe arranged for us to have this house.

The Xanax is wonderful, but it is addictive so best to use it sparingly.

Your house looks lovely! Nice to have that work done and it will be a good selling point when you're ready.

Hope you have a safe and great trip! No need to rush back if you're having a good time. Isn't that a refreshing thought!

    Morning, all.

Rain here, at last! Been too long between watering, good to have some from the sky. And, thankfully, they blew it, as the guess was that it was all going to be north of us.

Now slowly over the weekend we'll begin moving out of Kate's place. Then Monday the movers bring our 'household' that was in storage all this months.

Hope the air clears up for the exertion!
