Morning, all.

Looks like we might dry out a bit, claim is clearing starts today. Temps mostly in normal range, although they do say Tuesday won't be, back to the low 80s for that day only. Hope they're right!

And hope the eastern air continues to improve.

Morning, all.

Looks to be clear and sunny today, and hot. Low 80s, but they say it's only for one day, then back to high 60s, low 70s for the week. Maybe more rain later on.

Then Monday the movers bring our 'household' that was in storage all this months.

What with the time difference, I suspect you're up to your eyeballs in boxes by now!

Hola .. :|

Finally got some off and on rain yesterday, temps cooled last night so it almost felt a little nipply outside ..

Gave me an excuse to putter around the house and do some clean up .. cleaned out the fridge, shampooed the carpet in a few areas, dusted off the baseboard trim, changed a few bulbs to LED ..

Disney+ released Avatar :: Way of Water, the second film in the Avatar series last week .. took that in Saturday night .. just a magnificent 3++ hours of Hollywood escapism .. highly recommended and presents a solid environmental message ..

And maybe cleaned up the air a bit as well?

Yeah, it was pretty clean .. although, we really have not gotten much of the wild storm smoke in these parts .. makes for a bit of a more colorful sunset, though

Yep, that they are :)

We've been "blessed" with wild fire smoke over the years, periodically. Generally not too bad, but there have been times when we just stayed inside.

Hope our friends to the north get them under control. Heck, it's barely the start of the fire season.

The death of Cormac McCarthy prompts me to write a little something .. first, I have been a fan of his fiction for some time, the first book of his that I read was 'The Road', which was one, if not the, most bleak tale of an Apocalypse that I ever read .. completely and totally gripping from start to finish, once you get McCarthy's style on that one .. he sucked you into that World so fully that you could feel the Nuclear Winter as you read .. just an amazing story of Love that deservedly won a Pulitzer Prize ..

The Border Trilogy is ensconced in my book collection as well .. McCarthy wrote the old fashioned way on an actual typewriter .. he dealt with what you might call marginal characters ..

I still read in paper, and I'm sure I always will ..

Many, if not most, of my books these days come from Thrift Books, an on-line seller that offers a very deep catalog of mostly used books .. the prices are reasonable and the selection is great and, as a bonus, it's the green way to read .. pass that book along and let another reader enjoy it ..

Since they are used books, sometimes, something someone used as a bookmark will fall out .. in a weird way, that somehow connects you to a previous reader in some sort of vicarious 6 degrees of separation and, for me, gives me pause to think for a minute or two ..

An example would be this Chicago Symphony Orchestra ticket that fell out of a book .. March 28th, 2014 a Friday night out on the town .. Lincoln Center, Jazz Concert .. who were they .. ?? How did they dress .. ?? What did they have for dinner .. ?? A mystery that will never be solved

I kept the ticket and I use it as a book mark now, little do they know ..

How do you get to Lincoln Center .. ??
Practice, Practice, Practice ..

Morning, misfits.

Nice weather continues here, high 60s, cloudy :)

Maybe some light rain, but probably not today.

Nice one! Hadn't heard of them. We do a lot of browsing at Half Price Books. Yep, some interesting "finds" between the pages.

Good morning. Going up to 73 today with light rain off and on.

We're exhausted. Our 2 cats are glad we're so tired because we sit down a lot and they're immediately on our laps.

Mike and Janet - how's the unpacking going?

It's going. We're swamped with boxes and trying to find things we need. And making lists of things we need to get. I just want to take a nap. Alas, no time for that. Gotta head to the grocery store in a few minutes. Even so, I think we're going to be very happy here. The house and property are smaller and the neighborhood is gorgeous. The neighbors have been so nice too. Just have to take our time getting settled. Now if I could only find my pots and pans and the rest of our dishes...

In the midst of many boxes, filled and empty, maybe just take-out for a couple days?

Hola .. :|

After 4 wives, I learned never try and separate a Woman from her kitchen stuff .. especially those that like to cook ..

I had another wonderful adventure. Still hard to believe I am getting out on the highway and doing things that are fun. I like it. A lot!

The night before my trip, I am very scared and nervous. Fifty-eleven things are on my mind. It is weird but as soon as I get in the car and turn on my GPS, I am just as calm as can be. Maybe it is the incentive of seeing Daniel but I really think it is just having the freedom to finally do something I want to do. It is awesome.

The old place we stayed (Punderson Manor in Newbury, OH) was beautiful. Would have been exciting to have seen something strange other than me.

Did not see one single ghost. Darn. The only room available, because of a big wedding party, was a handicapped room. There was no way that room had a handicapped shower. I was expecting a huge shower but it was barely big enough for me. I did like the little pull-down seat though.

I had never been to a drag race. It was not as exciting as I had expected but still had a wonderful day. Daniel's trucking company was the owner of the racetrack so I met several of his friends and you know me. . . I talked to everyone. It is so nice to go places with someone that is like me. (well, sort of like me, I take it to another level

I must say the little kid's racing was just the cutest. The 7-year-olds had little miniature bikes that looked just like the big ones. They were going 57 miles an hour and you could see the excitement in their little faces.

The bikes that used that stuff to make them go really fast were interesting and loud. I cannot imagine going from 0 to 208 miles an hour in such a short time. It must be a real rush to them. Of course, I felt the same way on the highway. heehee

I did so many "1st time" things with Dan. It was wonderful. Everything was exciting to me. Even going through my first toll booths was fun. I went through 3 on the way there but Dan changed my route coming back and I didn't have to go through a single one. That was fine with me because they were $4.25 each. heehee Dan got to stay another night because he did not have a load to pick up so we spend the last night in his truck. He has a nice big truck and I was very comfortable. I was glad the bathroom was close.

Seeing my first great lake (Erie) was spectacular. We spent all day on the motorcycle stopping at different places. He would stop just to buy me a homemade root beer. We took short walks because Dan is slow but even that was special. Just think, I have 4 more to look forward to. I'd like to see them all.

I have not been on the back of a motorcycle for 37 years. I was pregnant with my daughter the last time I rode. This time was much more exciting. heehee In Ohio, they do not have a helmet law so that was my first time riding completely free and I loved it. I realize it is more dangerous to ride without one but the feeling of wind on your face was the most free I have ever felt. He has been riding since he was 7 and was an exceptional driver. I felt completely safe and protected. I was pleasantly surprised that I did not get sore or anything. We did get caught in the rain for just a little way but it was not hard enough to hurt thank goodness. He tried to get me back to the hotel before but started but even that was fun.

You would not believe the fantastic food I ate. Dan talked me into eating breakfast every morning which was strange for me but wonderful. I was scared to get on the scales this morning but I only gained 3 pounds. That's nuttin'. He says I need to put on 10 lbs. He's wrong of course.

One of the best parts of my trip was surprising my friend Liz in West Virginia. I knocked on her door and she hollered, "Who is it?". I knocked again and she said it again a little more gruff sounding. As soon as I said "Open the damn door!", she knew exactly who it was. I got her good. It has been 12 years since we saw each other in person. I ended up staying two nights with her and would have stayed longer but I ran out of my medication. I'll take more next time.

I will think of more things to share with you. You had to be expecting a large post from me. Thanks for letting me share.

Here is the first selfie we have taken of us together out of all the times we have met. Just so you know what happy looks like on me. . . I can't believe I am posting a pic of me. That is definitely a new side of me. Remember he is 5 years younger but I don't think I look like I'm robbing the cradle. Not that it really matters to me. heehee
