I know I am not that interesting but I have had a pretty good weekend so far.

I am not really sure what happened with Dan and to be honest, I will miss him but I NOT let it get me down. Nope. I went out to eat seafood with my friend and her hubby last night and it was delicious. Then he wanted a donut so I bought a box at KK. I just do not think they taste as good as I remember and boy they are expensive. $14.93 for a dozen. But we enjoyed them. I ate two and left them there because I did not want them in the house.

Tonight I went to Bonbon's (my fav) with my aunt and cousin and I had a wonderful NY Strip and it was cooked to perfection. My cousin is a hairdresser and she talked me into trying on a blond wig. OMgosh, when I looked in the mirror I did not recognize myself. They said it looked great. I wonder if blonds have more fun.

Since I was dressed and everyone said I look so nice, I decided to go back to the bar where I met Dan and listen to the band. They were pretty good. The woman had a great voice and they played a bunch of Fleetwood Mac. I love to watch people play and sing.

I saw some that I had met before and two women smiled at me and I went over and asked if I could sit with them so I would not look so pathetic being at a bar by myself. They were my age and really fun to talk to.

Several men actually asked to sit with me and we talked. I have no problem talking with anyone. People are rather interesting. But I did learn my lesson last time and I did not get into a big truck with anyone and I would not give them my number but I wrote there's down. They just wanted to take me out to eat. I told the one who had a very nice mustache that I could not make any promises but I may call and meet him somewhere to eat. That would be safe I guess. Right?

Also, my cousin's daughter said she had a friend that she was going to set me up with. That would be safe because she has known him for a very long time. I told her to make sure that she made it clear that I was not interested in any type of commitment. We will see. Who knows, it might just be fun.

Well, that was my excitement for the weekend. It was much better than sitting home wondering what I did wrong. A lot better.

Oh and my cruise control stopped working on my Honda. I use it all the time so I will have to google and try to figure out what to do. I hope it is something simple that I can fix myself. I really do use it a lot. Any suggestions?

Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday.

@clnire I agree with you. I may be too sick to do much right now but love to read you all.

And Cathy you’re right… Gary is a saint. Currently he does everything here. Greenhouse, house cleaning, dishes , shopping, laundry. Coaches me to breathe when I panic and don’t think I can. Gets me my first cup of really hot tea in the morning which soothes my throat and stops the coughing.

Seeing the pulmonologist this Thursday. I’ve had a chest-ray, a cat scan, a PFT (pulmonary function test) and an echo. Surely the doc can come up with a plan. Will keep you posted.
So happy to hear from you, @Bea-FL and you have been missed. Take care and stop by when you can. I will never forget your compassion when my son died.

    Morning, all.

Yeah, still hot and dry here, but some relief from the hot is on deck. So they claim. Still joking about "maybe" "scattered" "showers" which usually means, if we're lucky, a light mist...

Do that, and I hope they come up with something that works!!

Oh and my cruise control stopped working on my Honda.

Hard to say without knowing the model, but maybe as simple as a blown fuse?

I'd like to take a brief minute and write a bit about Mike and Janet ..

There are few, if any, people I know either in Real Life or in our on-line Family that I feel like I know any better than these two ..

I'd guess it's been maybe 11 or 12 years since Randall started the first 'Older Folks' Thread and through the thick and the thin, Mike and Janet have been there, consistently and without fail .. I / We have shared their Journey and what a Journey it's been .. many have come and gone, for various reasons, over those years ..

Mike and Janet have always been there, and, somehow, in a weird, symbiotic way, they have complemented each other .. I don't mean that in the sense of praising each other, but in the sense of, well, all I can think of at the moment is, two peas in a pod that continue to put up with each other over oh, so many years .. to me, it's a beautiful thing ..

So many life events that it's impossible to remember .. the Grand Kids, life's ups and downs, the humor, the advice, growing potatoes in a bag, the food, the Family, the get togethers, the trips, essentially, the Good and the Bad ..

My highest admiration for both of you .. I feel like I have been somehow vicariously enriched by our happenstance 'meeting' those years ago ..

I raise a glass and look forward to many more years of your particular brand of Peace, Love and Friendship .. I sometimes think that we, as People, don't express our real feelings as much as we can or should as it relates to those that touch us in one way or another ..

So, Thank You for being You and letting me share that ..

Wow! You are a pack rat for images. I don't know if I could find that one on my computer, but it must be on it somewhere. Janet and I have referred to that cabin as our first house in the woods and our current house as our last house in the woods.

Going to 82 today so that's a break in the heat for us, but there's lots of rain, flooding, wind and possible tornadoes around us. It's moving east now so hopefully it'll be out of here in time for the Phillie's game at 1:00.

    At least 8 years, lol
Wow, it's been longer than I thought since I've been putting up with awful nails!!

Wow Willie, I feel so loved!! Thank you for the kind post. You've really reached back into the archives! Think we found ECF about 12 years ago. Sheesh, how the time has flown.

Yay Bea!! SO glad to see your post. I've been keeping you in my prayers. I hope your visit with the pulmonologist goes well and that you'll see improvement each day until you're back to normal. Can't wait to see your gorgeous pictures of what's blooming in your greenhouse.
Oh, and I forgot to mention how wonderful Gary is for stepping up. It's not every spouse who will do that. A huge Atta Boy to Gary!

It was crazy how my cruise control stopped working and it was even crazier today when it started working again when I tried. I've tried it fifty-eleven times since it broke just hoping it would start working again. Nice surprise when something goes right.

I did the trim work and edging tonight on my house only. Thought I would get it done after the sun went down and it was not quite so bad. It was still hot. Going to try to do the riding part tomorrow.

Supper did not last me so I just ate a tomato sandwich. Sharon gave me one of hers the other night and it was so good. When I was trimming, I notice I had 2 grape tomatoes on one of the plants I am growing. I ate them both and they were so good. I thought I better eat them before the squirrels did. heehee

Going to read and try to get some sleep. Hope everyone sleeps well and has a great Monday.

    Morning, all.

Seems we get a brief break from the high temps, said to be only in the high 70s today, before heading back to the high 80s... Nice day to gather yard debris.

it was even crazier today when it started working again

So much for the blown fuse idea! Hope it stays functional!

Wow! You are a pack rat for images.

I hope you don't think I'm being intrusive .. I have saved photos from many, many ECF past and current members .. a photo is a 1/125th of a second slice of time travel

Thank you for the kind post.

Well, Janet, I will say that, my respect is high, yet, as you probably know, I don't always agree with both of you ..

that's life, that's what all the people say, you're riding high in April, shot down in May ..

You've really reached back into the archives!

As an addendum to my previous post, although, yes, I save photos some care to share, any comments I make regarding anyone's 'written history on ECF', is done by memory alone .. because, although the Brain is usually the second thing to go, I am lucky in that I still have a good portion of mine left (brain, that is) ..

of course, that statement can be debated

Dang, I forgot what the first was.... ;)

It's really not all that 'hard' to remember .. the good news is, there are various methods with which to 'stiffen' and add 'rigidity' to a structurally deficient 'member' ..

I thought you were an engineer ..

Thank you anyway and that is exactly what I was going to check first. I know on my next outing.

That made me chuckle. Before I asked for a divorce, I went home and packed my jewelry, my nicotine and his ....... He never tried it so I figured I would put it to better use.

If I knew then what I know now, I would have packed everything I owned instead of letting him go through my stuff and keep what he wanted. The lessons I learn are always the hard way. . . but I learn.

Only 5 at our Girl's Night Out but it was fun. I got a ACP Chicken Salad and it was good. I filled them in on all my shenanigans and of course, everyone was laughing. It is always so funny when we get together.

It was so nice today mowing only my yard. I got finished in no time at all. It felt weird. I kept looking around thinking surely I had missed something but I didn't. I don't mind helping anyone but I like being responsible for only my yard. I can't believe I did not time myself. I will next time. I guess going 13 miles an hour covers the ground fast.

My friend Cindy is taking her grandkids camping and has asked me to watch her dog. I would do anything she asked but this dog is old and not really healthy. I know it takes medication. She took her camping last time and it was just too much for the little dog and she had to carry her around most of the time. So I need everyone to send good thoughts to me when I start doggie sitting. Do you know how traumatized I would be if this little dog passed while in my care? Whew. I don't even want to think about it. Bailey knows me. I used to cut her nails. She is a long-haired weenie dog and cute as can be. A little chunky right now because of her meds. Oh well, I will take good care of her.

Hope everyone had a great start to their week.

Good Luck with the little weenie-dog! If you have time before Weenie-Mom leaves, ask her to give you some sort of medical release and talk to her vet so that you would have permission in place in case the dog needs an emergency trip to the vet and the Dr.'s can't reach her by phone.

I've done it myself when I had to leave a pet in someone's care. It was a simple: This is my vet, this is how far you should go to treat/keep alive, and what to do with the body if the pet dies. It was never needed, but I think everyone felt better knowing it was there.

Those are excellent suggestions and believe me, I will have all of that and probably more. I am sort of looking forward to it because I lost both my little dogs a couple of years ago and I miss them something terrible. I have been sleeping with animals since I was 18 years old and I am still getting used to sleeping alone. One day, when I settle down, I will get another. Thank you again for the wise suggestions.
