Morning, all.

Once again, the weather guessers got it... wrong.

Half inch of rain, soggy commute. Well, maybe somewhere, not a drop here... Wish I'd had a career where I got paid for, oh,, what, 20% right?? Hope it's just late.

The other day, a young woman asked, looking somewhat sheepish, for my VA ID and went on to explain that they get quite a few liars .. to which, I replied 'I would be happy to beat the snot out of those .. ' (not that I'm really much capable of beating the snot out of most people anymore unless they are using a walker)

I'll help. Isn't that what canes are for? :)

Sad to say, but we had to put our beautiful, sweet Phoebe to sleep on Wednesday. The blood work and ultra sound came back. She had severe pancreatitis and every organ in her little body except her lungs and brain had problems. They couldn't rule out cancer in a couple of them. She hardly benefitted from the IV fluids the night before. Our girls are 18 years old so there was no way we'd put her through surgery and the vet agreed.

This animal hospital was staffed with the most compassionate people from the front desk to the docs. We were taken into a homey little sitting room with couches and they brought her in on a lovely fluffy blanket so we could spend as much time as we needed with her.

The good thing is that we still have her sister Maggie with us so now she gets twice as much loving. You'd never guess she was 18. She still looks in her prime unless you noticed she has to use the portable steps to get on the bed and couch due to arthritis in her spine.

So, we're very sad right now but are thankful for 18 wonderful years with her.

Oh, I am so sorry. It doesn't matter how old they are when they must go, it's still too soon.

Never an easy decision, but the right one. :(

Sorry, Janet. Forever missed and loved. Cherish the memories.

    Hola .. :(

    “I want to be there
Want to go back down and lie beside the sea there
With a tin cup for a chalice, fill it up with good red wine
And I’m a chewin’ on a honeysuckle vine.”

So sad to hear about this.
Thank you everyone, I appreciate it. Most of you have lost at least one pet and know how hard it can be to say goodbye, but I keep remembering the 18 years of love and I'm thankful she was in our lives and that helps a lot.

I bet Phoebe and Jimmy are enjoying each others company on a beach chair somewhere in the sunshine.

    Morning, all.

Still no rain here, light showers scattered every where else in western WA...

But it does seem we're out of the hot weather, nice seasonal temps in the guess for the week.

Yes, the price of caring for them. Years of joy and love. And more years of fond memories.
