Has anyone heard from Bea? I hope her health issues are still improving.
Thanks for asking. As White Highlights said I’ve had every test under the sun and it turns out it’s all heart/lung issues, including the start of COPD and heart failure. It’s been a rough few months.

I still visit here and read everyone’s adventures. Janet your new house sounds nice.

Bless your heart, you really have had a challenging few months. I am just glad they have found what is causing the problems and pray that they will also treat it so you will feel the best you can.

Post when you can but know that we are always thinking of you.

Good morning. Looks like it is going to be another hot day. I am so glad that my AC will be operational today. I hope.

Listening to music, drinking coffee, and posting on here. Ahhh, life is good.

Y'all know me pretty well and I really do like Ken. He has had an interesting past in his younger days but I think a lot of him. You may (I know I do) find it hard to believe but I asked him if he would like to move in with me. Guess that is pretty serious.

I have only been by myself for a year but I have actually been by myself for many, many, many years. I want to live life and enjoy life with someone. There is not much that this o'l girl couldn't handle but it would be nice to have someone in my corner. He makes me feel special. The most important thing is I love talking with him and laughing.

If anything changes, I know for a fact, I will never settle for anything. Life is too short and that is what I have done my whole life. As long as I am happy and I feel appreciated, I want to see where this goes.

I sure am glad there is a blanket on this couch because I am freezing. This is nothing new though because my ex was hot-natured and kept the house like an ice box. It is more comfortable to put on a sweatshirt than it is to be miserable when you are hot. That's an easy compromise.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Fri-YAY eve.

Wait, what? Didn't you say you told him you don't want any serious relationship just a couple months ago???? I am surprised but wish you the best and hope it all works out for you. You deserve the best.

    Morning, all.

Still nice temps, still no rain...

went right through a 2x8 road barrier closing the road and then I drove into the lake.

A much better tale than just pushing it off a cliff :)

I have been so busy and active, that I have only gained 1 pound this trip. Probably sweated most of it off.

Maybe all that horizontal dancing? ;)

Well, here we are again at our daughters. These boys are so funny. The older one is in school, but the younger one doesn't start til next week. Daddy is away until late tonight and Mommy has is at work.

Looks like when we pick up Hux from school we'll be taking him and his brother to Rita's Water Ice. i'm looking forward to getting a gelotti (layers of flavored water ice and vanilla soft serve ice cream. I'm hoping they have black cherry and Mike likes the orange. They change the flavors around so we're hoping to get what we want.

    ***LONG POST WARNING***

The Rat had a wonderful trip but has been so busy I have not had a chance to post. sniff, sniff

I posted once but for the life of me I cannot remember what I told you. Oh well. The main thing is I had a wonderful time and I dearly loved his family. We even ended up going to Georgia to see his brother. Ken had not seen him in a long time so it was nice.

I am pretty sure his family liked me. What's not to like? View attachment 1000842 I am just kidding but they all made me feel at home. I hope to see them again.

The trip was not totally perfect. Ken got a speeding ticket on the way back. Within 50 miles of home, he got pulled. I could not really blame him. The traffic was all moving so fast and that car is so smooth that you don't realize how fast you are going. Of course, we do know because the ticket said he was going 86 in a 70. I really hated it but I was glad it happened at the end of our trip.

When we got home Monday, guess who had no A/C? I have had nothing but bad luck with that unit since the day they installed it back in 2017. Thank goodness we had a warranty so the parts did not cost. I think I told y'all about the $330 labor cost for installing a motor. Well this time, it is the compressor.

The unit is made by Goodman. Because I have had so many issues, they offered to give me a brand new unit which is bigger and more cost efficient. I still have to pay for the labor to have it installed which I am not sure I think is fair because I already paid for it once.

The quote for installation was $1800.00. The first two days, I talked him down to $1600. It took me a few more days but I finally got it down to what I feel is reasonable. Ken and I are going to help him and his assistant. In fact, Ken is going to pick up the unit with his truck and trailer. The ac man told Ken he better keep me because I was one heck of a woman. Ken said he agreed. They are so silly but anyway, it is now going to cost $700 cash. I am pleased with that.

It worked out well that I could spend the night with Ken. With my thyroid issues, I keep mine set at 76 or 78. Ken on the other hand is hot-natured and keeps his on 69. I wish I had packed winter pajamas. View attachment 1000844Well anyway, we meet the man at 9 tomorrow and hopefully I will finally be sleeping in my bed. I miss my bed.

I have been so busy and active, that I have only gained 1 pound this trip. Probably sweated most of it off. We went to the Moose Lodge last night and tonight. Double meat nachos last night and a fish sandwich and tots tonight. I really do like their food. Everything I have had has been delicious. They are supposed to have pot roast tomorrow night and Ken said we might have to go again. Doesn't matter to me, just tell me when.

I will tell you that the relationship has really gotten pretty serious for both of us. I know it has only been two months but we have spent quite a bit of time together and I am happy about it. Of course, I have told him he is still on probation until the first of the year but judging from his pros and cons, I want him to stick around. View attachment 1000843

I am on the couch wrapped up in a blanket. Since I am warm I am going to go run jump in bed and hopefully have enough heat to warm the sheets quickly. (fingers crossed)

Glad to be back. I sure do miss y'all when I'm gone.

    Have a great Thursday!
Torey, I'm so happy for you! You deserve some happiness.

I can sympathize with you about the house being cold. Brian would keep this house at 65 degrees all the time so we always pack warm clothes when we come here.

Congrats for getting that AC unit down! You did good, Hopefully this will solve your problems.

    Hola .. :|

There is beginning to be a feeling of Fall in the air .. time to get all those outdoor projects that were put on hold during the days of heat waves back front and center ..

Have not yet decided what the first order of business needs to be, but I've got a feeling I better get crackin' since that limbo area of mild weather may not last all that long .. these days, you just don't know how the weather is going to shake out ..

My hummingbirds seem to be porking up for the trek South .. the feeders are getting drained pretty quickly and they actually look fatter to me ..

Weather says this is our last day in the 90's and we may have rain on the way. Hummers left here a few days ago. I miss them already.

    Morning, all.

Still nice temps, still no rain. Oh, well, October is coming... Seems we're 8" below average rainfall. Not good.

Maybe we need a rain dance, or at least of lot of us washing our cars?

You would all suffer in my house. I keep it at 54 in the winter. Used to be 52, but I've gone soft in my old age.

While we do keep bedroom windows open in the winter, once up we move the thermostat up to 65 :)

When I'm feeling particularly frail, I'll bump the thermostat up (to 60, max), but I can usually only tolerate that for a half-hour before I have to lower it again.

I'm so glad you stopped by, it's good to hear from you.

With all this heat we've had this summer it made me think of your orchids. How do your plants make out in the greenhouse? Do you just run a big fan in there? Do you need to do any air conditioning in there? I used to work in greenhouses in PA, but our temps are nothing like what you must have in Florida.

Call this a bad news, good news update on Bea. She's in the hospital again. Fortunately, her cardiologist happened to be there when she arrived in the ER which gave confidence in the planned treatments. They decided to do 1 procedure tomorrow and implant a pacemaker on Monday. She's hoping to be released on Tuesday if all goes well. The cardiologist says she should be "mostly like her old self" after the pacemaker is in place.

Sadly, with all the challenges in the past months, she's been limited in what she could do in the greenhouse. I think they reduced the number of plants and Gary has been tending what's left. Gary is a gem; he's done an awesome job taking care of Bea and everything else. Here's hoping she gets back to her old self and wants to take on the challenge of growing the orchids again.

Please keep her in your thoughts, send prayers, and positive energy for a swift recovery.

That is what I have told every man I have dated. Not exactly sure what made me change on this one. I hope it wasn't just the awesome mustache.

Nuttin' wrong with that but there really has not been much "dancing" going on. But I sure do like talking with him. Don't get me wrong, the canoodling is fantabulous!

What size igloo do you live in?
    1laugh.gif

thermostat set to 72° year round
I have been quite comfortable on 76 believe it or not but that could be some of my thyroid issues. I'll take cooler over hotter though. Since I leave my drapes open all the time, my neighbors are probably just as happy about my a/c repair as I am.
