I slept a little over 7 hours last night. I cannot tell you how happy just that one thing makes me. Y'all know I rarely sleep. This is a great little perk.

Went to the Moose Lodge last night to hear a band. The lasagna was much better than the music.

More people there on the weekends so I met a lot of new people. I love watching the kids. They have a nice little playground. There is a little girl there named Callie. She made us rings out of little rubber bands. Mine even had the treble symbol on it and of course, it was pink. heehee She charged Ken $4. He had the ones but I saw him give her a five. He also gave them more a while back when 3 of them did a cheer. They had a boom box and everything. Oh well, it is a nice family-like place even though they have a bar.

The a/c is fully operational and I feel like I could hang meat in the kitchen. He had his temp set on 69 so that is what I turned mine on. It is a bit chilly for me but not a big issue because I have lots of winter robes.

We are going to go pick up the rest of his clothes today which is not much at all. I told him he packed light when he came down here. I keep forgetting he and his dad lost everything two years ago when their house flooded. I just cannot comprehend going through something like that. They showed me pictures and I still can't comprehend it. I cannot remember how many people died but it was an awful flood. You can still see the damage in places where people just could not rebuild. It is so sad.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Call this a bad news, good news update on Bea. She's in the hospital again. Fortunately, her cardiologist happened to be there when she arrived in the ER which gave confidence in the planned treatments. They decided to do 1 procedure tomorrow and implant a pacemaker on Monday. She's hoping to be released on Tuesday if all goes well. The cardiologist says she should be "mostly like her old self" after the pacemaker is in place.

Sadly, with all the challenges in the past months, she's been limited in what she could do in the greenhouse. I think they reduced the number of plants and Gary has been tending what's left. Gary is a gem; he's done an awesome job taking care of Bea and everything else. Here's hoping she gets back to her old self and wants to take on the challenge of growing the orchids again.

Please keep her in your thoughts, send prayers, and positive energy for a swift recovery.

Thanks for the update. Sorry to hear she's back in the hospital, but it's encouraging to hear about the pacemaker. Hopefully it will make a huge difference for the better. Definitely sending her good thoughts for a speedy recovery and that she feels much better.

About 2 weeks ago I slept until 8:00 for some reason. Wish I knew how that happened because I felt great and would like a repeat performance!

Maybe you could compromise and set the AC for 70 or 71. Sometimes just changing the setting 1 degree feels like it makes a big difference.

Morning, all.

Hope all goes well for Bea, and that she really does come out of it

Getting the ticker back in sync is good!

The lasagna was much better than the music.

Maybe just needed more wine with the lasagna? :)

After seeing me wearing a sweatshirt, he told me to turn it up and bit so now I have it on 72. He seems fine with it and I am a little more comfortable. I like compromising.

I can't decide if I am sleeping more because someone else is on security detail or because of anemia again. Maybe both? Might want to take an iron pill or two and see. I'll wait a couple of days though because I am enjoying the sound sleeping too much.

Cloudy here but not expecting any rain for a little while. We have had enough for right now. The grass is going to take off this week and need to be mowed. Wonder if I have someone that will offer to mow the yard? Hmmmm? That would be nice.

It is a lazy sort of day. I fixed breakfast for Ken and just started chillin' which for me includes Temu and ecf.

I think we are going to go to my fav restaurant and split a rack of ribs. They are so good. Just thinking about it made my mouth start watering. heehee

Hope everyone has a nice and peaceful day.

Hola .. :|

Spent the bulk of the daylight hours doing outside stuff yesterday .. I'd scored a new Skil battery weed whacker on a Fall Clearance sale that cost less than what they normally sell the battery alone for, so really gave that baby a workout .. so nice not having to unspool a cord and later spool it up .. and this thing has got some power ..

Replaced an outdoor faucet, not a job I'd ever done before, but getting a plumber to take a small job these days is near impossible .. went into it with trepidation, watched several YouTubes .. seems to be working fine .. felt so confident after the fact that I replaced a washer in the other faucet and quelled a pesky drip ..

Toying with the idea of replacing my hot water heater, which is about 12 years old .. still working perfectly fine, but I've always believed in being pro-active and they don't last forever .. I won't take that on myself ..

How could anyone forget?

Well, for those of us that watched the live news cast that morning, we won't ever forget ..

However, it's been a generation now in the timeframe, so the event gets relegated more and more to History as time passes .. sadly

The visceral emotions that rippled through America and the World still feel very current, for me anyway ..

Bea update: She had the surgery around noon, all went well. She's now resting in her room and apparently telling Gary what to do! He sent me a text from her phone with her status and then another one that said it was ok to let the folks on ECF know. The doc did say Bea would be back to her old self after the surgery, that didn't take long!

But if you take an iron pill will you have trouble sleeping again? It's a good thing to sleep!

Geez, sounds like you're getting ready for winter! It's still in the 80s here so, except for the poplar trees dropping their leaves, it still feels like summer. In fact, we saw a humming bird in the bush just outside our front window yesterday! Didn't put our feeder up because we only moved in on 6/12. Figured I'd start next year.

Do any of your friends or family need a sling or do you want it for your “just in case”collection? I was at the hospital for surgery this week and they want me to use a sling but this one is too big. It mattets not that I didn’t wear it. It’s open at one end for the hand to go through.

If an item enters a room it gets discarded, Let me know.

That is kind of you. Too bad I just bought one for my dd's spiral fracture.

Good to see you posting @Bea-FL

Doubt I will shock anyone here but. . .

For the last year, I am sure y'all have noticed some of the crazy things I have done with my newfound freedom. I am starting to think I may be having a belated mid-life crisis.
    1laugh.gif

I cannot remember if I told everyone about the issues I had on my last charity motorcycle ride but it had to do with a real issue called Saddle Numbness. That's what the doctor told me at my physical. Well, things have gotten better but still not back 100%.

I love riding the motorcycle and the freedom I feel while riding. Riding a bike is probably the first real memory I have. I can remember riding with my father when I was tiny. I can literally remember sitting between his legs and holding onto each of his arms. I felt so safe. I get that same feeling with Ken.

Now we get to the mid-life crisis. . . I bought a motorcycle. A nice one! It is the largest and most frivolous purchase I have made since Dad died but has made me quite happy so far.

Ken has two motorcycles and I think he thought I was crazy. (he may be correct) I know nothing about motorcycles other than I like Harley's. He looked at what they had pre-owned and picked out a couple of nice bikes that had good prices. Since this is MY purchase, I picked out what I wanted. The only thing it does not have is metallic paint. You know I like sparkles. But it has everything else. Since I want to go on long trips and see things I have never seen before, I went for my comfort.

    Here she is. . .

Not sure what I am going to do today but I am sure it is going to be a great day. Y'all have a great day too.

I feel the same way but I am afraid some have forgotten. It is so sad. I remember that day so well. I start praying around holidays and special days because I am afraid it will happen again. I hope it never does.

I do love sleeping but the iron plays havoc with my stomach. The nurse at the Red Cross told me to start cooking with an iron skillet. I would do that but I am not thrilled about cooking again.

I almost forgot to tell you. . .

I met a young man who cuts trees for a living. He pulled a baby squirrel out of his pocket. When he finds them, he and his wife raise them. It was so darn cute. I did not want to give it back to him. I held the little girl for over an hour as she snoozed.

squirrel.jpg Is that not the cutest thing?
