Hello Lizards!

Dropping by to see how you are all doing and I'm realizing how much I miss coming here.
Janet & Mike congratulations on your new home........haven't read back but intend to do just that.

Bea, so glad to see you are on the mend........think of you often!

Torey, miss you gf........see you're at it again........LOL

Things here in Florida are good.......keeping busy with 'stuff' and grateful that I have good health and have resumed all my activities after a bout with kidney stones last year.......don't wish that on anyone!! Have a regime of exercise, and for the most part I do it, but it's the balance of the time in which I struggle..

Short post, but better than I've been doing, so see you all soon!

Morning, all.

Nice to see old friends back on (the) board! And even better that all are on the mend!

Spent the bulk of the daylight hours doing outside stuff yesterday .. I'd scored a new Skil battery weed whacker on a Fall Clearance sale that cost less than what they normally sell the battery alone for, so really gave that baby a workout .. so nice not having to unspool a cord and later spool it up .. and this thing has got some power ..

While my whacker is still gas (4 stroke), since I deal with whacking 2 1/2 acres, went battery for the blower and chain saw a few years back. Yep, battery tools these days aren't the wimpy stuff from years back. Not getting tired out just trying to start the dang things helps a lot! :)

I bought a motorcycle.

Guess you didn't see this one?

Good morning. I have been sleeping so well lately but I guess I was overly tired last night.

Saw my aunt trimming tree limbs so I went to help her (of course). Was not too long til here comes Ken wanting to help too. I am not sure how she did it but we ended up cutting a tree down for her and stacking the brush for her. I did not mean for Ken to work but it was nice having someone that wanted to help.

Ended up doing yard work yesterday and after fussing about it, I finally let Ken mow the yard while I did trim work. I think he just wanted to use the zero-turn. heehee He did a fantastic job though and it would not take much at all for me to get used to him mowing.
RatYes.gif

I went ahead a mowed all the way down the street outside the fence. My aunt just has no business push mowing in this heat and in that ditch. I have fallen out there before and I do not want her to. I have to gnawl my tongue to keep from saying her grandson should get his you-know-what out there and help her. What kind of 31 year old man feels good about a 90 and a 63-year-old doing his yard? Grrrr It is just not right.
1No.gif

I had such a productive day. I also did wash too. Ken wanted to take me out to eat since I had worked so hard but it was going to rain so I just wanted to stay home. I ended up fixing spaghetti and salad. It makes me feel so good to hear Ken tell me I am amazing. I know that is silly but Dad never once told me anything like that or my ex for that matter. I like it.

Halfway to the weekend. Sheesh! Where does the time go? I am going to try to get some of my stuff done today. I got another email from my attorney with two more things I need to do for her. I get so agitated. What am I paying them for? I will be so glad when this estate stuff is completed.
1YES.gif

Hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday! Love you all!

Sure he's not 13?

Hope everyone in the NE stays high and dry, Seems Lee is moving a bit west...

At least they caught the escapee! PA is (relatively?) safe again!

Doubt I will shock anyone here but. . .

Here she is. . .

Well, now you can take Ken on a ride on your motorcycle. That back seat looks comfortable and I'm sure you won't mind his arms around you as you lean into the turns going down the highway.

Hello Lizards!
....

Do any of your friends or family need a sling or do you want it for your “just in case”collection? I was at the hospital for surgery this week and they want me to use a sling but this one is too big. It mattets not that I didn’t wear it. It’s open at one end for the hand to go through.

If an item enters a room it gets discarded, Let me know.

Good to see old friends again. Hello and best wishes to both of you.

At least they caught the escapee! PA is (relatively?) safe again!

All that drama was taking place within a 30 minute drive of us (the breakout and the capture this morning). We couldn't talk about it around our son's boys. They were both freaked out about it.

Doubt I will shock anyone here but. . .

For the last year, I am sure y'all have noticed some of the crazy things I have done with my newfound freedom. I am starting to think I may be having a belated mid-life crisis.
1laugh.gif

I cannot remember if I told everyone about the issues I had on my last charity motorcycle ride but it had to do with a real issue called Saddle Numbness. That's what the doctor told me at my physical. Well, things have gotten better but still not back 100%.

I love riding the motorcycle and the freedom I feel while riding. Riding a bike is probably the first real memory I have. I can remember riding with my father when I was tiny. I can literally remember sitting between his legs and holding onto each of his arms. I felt so safe. I get that same feeling with Ken.

Now we get to the mid-life crisis. . . I bought a motorcycle. A nice one! It is the largest and most frivolous purchase I have made since Dad died but has made me quite happy so far.

Ken has two motorcycles and I think he thought I was crazy. (he may be correct) I know nothing about motorcycles other than I like Harley's. He looked at what they had pre-owned and picked out a couple of nice bikes that had good prices. Since this is MY purchase, I picked out what I wanted. The only thing it does not have is metallic paint. You know I like sparkles. But it has everything else. Since I want to go on long trips and see things I have never seen before, I went for my comfort.

Here she is. . .

drivingMISSDAISY.jpg

Not sure what I am going to do today but I am sure it is going to be a great day. Y'all have a great day too.
Woohoo! Good for you! One question though, if you drop it can you pick it up again? As far as sparkles go - accessorize with sparkles!!!

What was that line from Steel Magnolias - what separates us from the animals is our ability to accessorize.

I almost forgot to tell you. . .

I met a young man who cuts trees for a living. He pulled a baby squirrel out of his pocket. When he finds them, he and his wife raise them. It was so darn cute. I did not want to give it back to him. I held the little girl for over an hour as she snoozed.

squirrel.jpg Is that not the cutest thing?

Awww, he's adorable! I saw an article once about a guy who saved one as a baby and it lived with him - in his house! Guess he didn't own anything that could be knocked over.

Gracie!! Glad to hear you're doing good!

Yeah, we're liking our new house, but we're having a little trouble trying to figure out where to put everything. We've definitely downsized so it's been interesting, Sure wish our kids had room and wanted some of it...

Well you certainly deserve to be told you're amazing! I think you're amazing.

Geez, you're still dealing with estate stuff too? Thought you were done. There always seems to be something else needed. Fortunately I think once the taxes are submitted I should be done. It's only taken 6 months and my brother rented a bedroom to live in and had nothing. 2 recommended lawyers never got back to me so I did it myself. Ugh!

Maybe when you go over to do lawn work for your aunt you should look for the grandson and tell him you missed him while you were there working... Or how about asking him to come over and help you with your lawn? Might be a fair trade - you'll do her mowing and he can do yours. What would he do if she decided to move?

Every morning I'd wake up and turn on the news to see if they caught him. Yay! So glad it's finally over. Turns out he's supposed to spend the rest of his days at the prison about a mile down the road from where we just moved from.

Morning, all.

Still nice temps (although a tad warmer for the weekend), still no rain. Maybe scattered showers. Next week. And next week they'll say the same, next week...

So, still watering the gardens, although not as much. Season winding down, but the rhodies and such still get thirsty.

The bike I bought was only for the passenger's comfort. Mine! I can hold it up and even roll it around but if I decide to ride with him instead of behind him, I would go for a Heritage HD because it is a little lighter. I prefer to just sit back and relax and take pics.

I went to my first Bike Night last night. They played a bunch of silly games that had me laughing. I definitely did not participate but Ken raced a man on this oversized tricycle. He lost but had such a good time. The prize was a bucket of beer and the one who won shared it with Ken. They had chicken wings, meatballs, croissant sandwiches and potato salad. The best part was it was all free. That happens to be my favorite kind of food.
1YES.gif

We are going on a charity ride tomorrow to benefit children with Hydrocephalus (water on the brain). He tries to ride on all the charity rides he comes across. That is a great quality in him and I am more than willing to ride along.

It is sort of funny but every time someone says something about the bike, he tells them it is my bike and he is just the chauffeur. Technically that is true since only my name is on the title. Maybe one day I will add his name or find a new chauffeur. I know where to find them.
1laugh.gif

We are taking his bike tomorrow but he made me a nice cushion to sit on. Still on the fender but is satisfactory comfort for my tookus.

I'm so glad you stopped by, it's good to hear from you.

With all this heat we've had this summer it made me think of your orchids. How do your plants make out in the greenhouse? Do you just run a big fan in there? Do you need to do any air conditioning in there? I used to work in greenhouses in PA, but our temps are nothing like what you must have in Florida.
The GH is open to the outside most of the year and we run 4 ceiling fans in there as well. It can get up to 97-98 degrees but I grow orchids that love the hot weather.

Good morning! Been up since 4. grrrr Maybe I'm just excited about the ride today. It is supposed to be pretty but 55% rain tomorrow and I'm already feeling "rainy" in the bones, if you know what I mean.

The coffee sure is good this morning. Hope everyone has a great day.

Morning, lizards.

Still dry, and a bit warmer again. Claim is only hot for another day. The guess at scattered showers has been changed to "spotty showers." Yeah, a spot here, a spot there...

I prefer to just sit back and relax and take pics.

And just where are those pics? ;)

Today we're gathering with the family at a local orchard for apple picking! We had a great time last year so I'm looking forward to it. So glad apple season is here. The apples at the grocery store have not been looking so great until this past week. What a difference in the taste of an apple freshly picked from the tree! So there goes the diet because I'm going to be making all kinds of apple dishes that are definitely not diet friendly.

Thanks. We're really enjoying our new home, but it's going to be awhile until we're really settled. We've downsized so there is the problem of trying to find places for things. We get stuff put away and then can't remember where we stashed them!

Yesterday we picked up a medicine cabinet for the downstairs powder room and kudos to Mike that he started installing it as soon as we got home. It's weird that this house has no medicine cabinets. Where did the previous owner store all his stuff?

Now I'm shopping for a cabinet to use as a pantry and also a cabinet. The kitchen was recently redone, but neglected to include a pantry for food stuffs. We also need a cabinet for our liquor supplies. We brought our hutch where I kept most of that stuff, but it's ugly and doesn't go with anything in this house.

And the bidet has to go. Don't know how to use it, don't want it and it leaks. Haven't yet figured out why some people love them enough to spend all that money to get one. Must be some magical reason to want one.

So sorry to hear about the kidney stones. I hear that's horrible to deal with, but I'm glad to know that you got through it ok.

Maybe you need a new hobby for your down time. During the covid lockdown I took up crocheting and became obsessed with it. That was put on hold while living at our daughter's house, but I'm itching to get back to it. Our new living room needs a throw blanket! There's a website called Craftsy that has videos of all kids of things from cooking to sewing to gardening etc. It's a good place to get inspired.

Morning all. Got up early and got in 12,000 steps. Thought it might help me but it did not. The rain has settled into my joints. Such is life. We need the rain so it will be okay. Going to just take it easy today. I hope.

The charity ride yesterday was wonderful. There were only 60 some bikes but there was a nice crowd. It was a little longer than I was expecting. He had wanted to take his chopper but it was making a weird backfire so we took my comfortable ride and I was not disappointed.
1No.gif
He will get it running well again and I will ride for short trips but I really prefer comfort on the longer trips.

When we got finished they had some of the best food I have had so far. I ate way too much. I am very disappointed because I have gained but I'm going to get it under control before I gain anymore. It will be okay. I just have to stop Ken from feeding me so much. The doctor told me I should gain a few pounds but I did not agree with her. heehee

They had raffle tickets and Ken won a $10 gift certificate to Waffle House which was great because he loves to eat their breakfast. He had a bunch of tickets so after he won he gave the rest of his tickets to a woman who did not have any and told her he hoped she won something. I thought that was pretty nice of him.

Then we went to a place we had been to the other day and he played pool with a young guy and then a game with a man that was probably in his late 70's. He won both games although I wanted the older man to win. I don't think Ken played as well as I had seen him so I think he tried to let the older man win. Another nice thing I see in him.

Anyway, it was a wonderful day and they collected a lot of money for the children. Bikers get a bad rap sometimes but they really are all for good causes.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day.
