Meet Me in St Louie Louie
Hola .. :(

I've had a few reach out to me in PM, so thanks for that .. the truth is, my heart is just not into posting for various reasons .. I'm physically fine, just came off my comprehensive 6 month check up and came thru with flying colors other than what my DR says is a nail fungus in my big toe, he's referred me to a Podiatrist which I have yet to call for an appointment on ..

Had a woman I know tell me to soak foot in a 50/50 water/vinegar solution for 20 minutes twice a day, so I'm trying that .. I read that the pills they give you can wreak havoc on your liver and my liver is not my best organ after years of abuse ..

My DR suggested the Podiatrist may ask about removing the toe nail .. I'm not going to volunteer for that torture .. that's got to up there with water boarding .. 'Hey, your going to feel a little pinch while I peel your toe nail off, hold still now ..'

After 3 days of foot soaking, I can report that my feet are very, very clean ..

broken ribs are really painful and there's not much you can do about it but wait for them to heal.

My experience is, they won't do squat .. 'Take Aleve ..' .. pointless to even go to the DR on ..

'It only hurts when I breath ..'

Good to hear from you, and I think we all go through bouts of just not wanting / caring to post. Heck, sometimes I just post about the weather and the funnies :) We've all been here so long, and watched old friends pass, just reassuring to know our friends are still with us.

Can't help on the toenail, but the acetic acid may help. Change the pH in that area. Yeah, I'd decline the nail removal, too!

Truthfully, one of the downers is the number of folks that have passed thru and moved on for one reason or another, above and beyond their control, over the years ..

A once very much thriving Community has dwindled down to what we have now .. yes, I know I should just be thankful for what we currently have, but that does not make it any less a bummer ..

A long time ago, I made a written promise that if I ever decided to exit for any reason, I would so state prior to .. I still hold by that

If I do, however, just seem to go poof at some point for an inordinately long period of time, feel free to assume the worst and let me Rest in Peace ..

And, of course, that's true of life itself. But yeah, some hit harder than others.

Fond memories, and keep making new ones. Memories, and friends.

Good to hear! But it's the unintended departures that get us all anxious, when friends go off the grid and we don't get to read their fingers ;)

I just had an email, phishing attempt and their email was a bunch of gibberish at littlecrimes.com. ha ha ha.
Yeah, Mike and I get them from time to time. Sometimes they look so legit until you click on that little arrow to see their "return address".

@Uncle Willie Good luck with the toe fungus. For some reason I keep getting ads for toe fungus cures and I don't even have that problem and never looked it up. If I ever did have that problem you can bet I'd try any one of those cures before having my toenail removed!!!

So, Fall has definitely arrived. it was snowing leaves here yesterday. Mike got a little hand held battery powered leaf blower for his birthday. It's so convenient to use, we may wear it out before this season is over. We have LOTS of trees around our house.

Better bring in my plants. It's going down to 45 tonight and our high today will only be 59. I've still got a couple plants in large pots on our daughter's porch so I guess we'll have to make a trip down there today to bring them here. Should have done it weeks ago, but there's always something else that needs doing around here. We just got curtain rods and curtains put up yesterday. Still have a few more to do. There's vertical blinds in the bedroom windows, but without curtains it just looks so cold in there.

Just read an article about how much healthier pure maple syrup is rather than sugar so I tried some in my coffee this morning. It's delicious!

What does that do to the upcoming trip? Going by car?
I am not sure how but he did make the 6 1/2 drive here. If it had not been for his father's surgery, I am sure he would have canceled this trip.

sorry to hear about those nasty ants!
They are nasty little buggers. I ended up having to take a Benadryl one night but they have finally started feeling better. I could not stop myself from scratching them so now I have scabs all around my ankles. This too shall pass.

A little late in reporting but Ken's father came through the surgery well. His granddaughter brought him home last night. He wanted to go to bed because he said he couldn't sleep in the noisy hospital. That is true. Been there, done that!

Yesterday morning when Ken woke up he was having a tough time catching his breath and he couldn't cough up the phlegm because it was so painful. I know he was in a lot of pain because he asked me to drive his big truck to the emergency room. Thank goodness it was only 3 1/2 miles away. We spent the day there and at one time they said they were going to admit him.

They took more x-rays and a CT scan. The best thing they did was give him the nebulizer treatment. It helped his breathing. Of course, the strong pain meds helped immensely. The ended up sending him home with pain medication, muscle relaxers and an inhaler.

Another good thing is he has not had a cigarette. They scared him pretty bad about his lungs and getting pneumonia. I will voice my opinion but I would never fuss at him about it if he did go back to smoking. I will admit, I pray he does not. Not only for his health but the cost of smoking these days. He spends a week about what I paid when I had a mortgage a long time ago. I do not know how people can afford to smoke.

I know it is silly but taking care of Ken and spending the day at the hospital affected me emotionally and mentally. When we got home it was dark and cold but I told Ken I needed to take a walk and that is exactly what I did. It helped because I did not have to get into my emergency Xanax.

I am hoping for a nice peaceful day. I could use one. Hope y'all have a nice Sunday too.

Did they wrap his chest tightly? That should help a lot, but it's not something you can do by yourself. It should help him with the pain and he'll breathe deeper which should help prevent problems like pneumonia .

Has he expressed any interest in vaping at all? Maybe if he wants a cigarette bad enough he might try it.

It'll take a little while, but the ribs will heal and then you'll be back to your regular life. Sounds like you're having some PTSD from caring for your Dad? Just remind yourself that this is not at all the same thing. I'm glad you weren't also on the bike, but then again, you might have cushioned his fall... I'm reminded that recently a friend of mine fell in front of the grocery store and we were laughing about it because she actually bounced on the sidewalk. People stopped to help her, but she was mortified. Luckily she didn't break anything and we had a good laugh.

Morning, all.

Dang, topped out at 81 yesterday! Similar today, so they claim. Back to damp 60s for the week.

Yep. We're all EX smokers, and know that fussing won't work ;)

Good to hear his dad did ok, and hope his ribs settle down!

Good morning
I admit I have gotten really bad about reading and not posting.

Yesterday I met with sister at my folks house to yard sale some stuff...mercy it was very humid !
We didn't do very well even tho it was a community sale
My folks are doing fine in their "old folks home"
There is so much stuff to deal with - thank goodness my sister is taking it mostly all on.

Work is stressful crazy.. Migration to a new management system was all messed up - so...they are backing it out and attempting to redo it...I sure hope it takes this time.

We are trying to sell Steve's truck - my dad gave him his car since he isn't driving anymore so it's a really nice upgrade for him.

Did they wrap his chest tightly?
Believe it or not, they do not suggest wrapping the broken ribs anymore. Here is what Google said :

Doctors no longer prescribe compression wraps for rib fractures, because they can restrict breathing, leading to pneumonia, or even a partial lung collapse.

Go figure. It may change again like what is good to eat to lower BP or prevent heart attacks. It's hard to keep up with it. I read where they said that old folks should not take garlic pills because it is a blood thinner but to me, if a person has clogged arteries in their family, it would be best to keep blood running smoothly. Who knows. I still take it.

Has he expressed any interest in vaping at all?
He has taken several hits off of mine and each time he coughs. I told him that it would go away if he would just give it time. I coughed at first myself.
Just remind yourself that this is not at all the same thing.
I think you are right about the PTSD. I had to keep going to the restroom yesterday and I did my 4-7-8 breathing. It seemed to help. I got clammy and I started feeling like I had just finished a race. Weird.

He definitely is not like my father. He actually says "Thank you". Ken noticed it was bothering me and told me that he would be getting better soon and he was not my father. That earned a point or two. At least he understands. I do hate it when that happens though.

Ken's father is doing great and Ken seems to be better too. I hope it is not just the meds that he is on that is making him better. We will see because they did not give him many days of it. I understand why the have to be so careful now but it sure hurts the people that really do need it.

I am not sure what day it feels like but to me, it certainly is not a Sunday kind of day. I guess because I am somewhere else it is messing me up. I am going to use that as my excuse although we all know that that is what happens.

They got pizza for supper and it was good. I justified eating two pieces because I got my 10,000 steps in this afternoon. heehee I can usually justify anything that I want to eat.

Morning, all.

Rain is on the schedule, not here yet. And most of it may be north of us, anyway...

Go figure. It may change again like what is good to eat to lower BP or prevent heart attacks. It's hard to keep up with it.

Yeah. Wait for a week and what was discounted is not gospel. For another week....

And good they're both on the mend!
