Morning, all.

Seems to have been light rain overnight, so 24 hours before the scheduled appearance. Didn't want to mow, anyway :)

I don't like that the days are getting so much shorter. It's dark when I wake up in the morning and it gets dark while I'm making dinner. Feels like I just got over complaining about the summer heat. Just no pleasing me!!

Eat dinner earlier? ;)

we go through it every year and every year I complain. Ba Humbug!

Before I retired there was always a few weeks mid-winter when I'd go to work and come home with headlights on. Does make the "return" of the sun much appreciated, especially since that time of year it's also typically overcast and wet :)

Good morning all! Chilly here but the coffee is good. And this is going to be another lengthy post from The Rat.

Thursday, we went to Hobby Lobby to get Ken's granddaughter a $50 gift card. She loves making things. We went to the Moose Lodge after we got it. We hadn't been there in about a month and everyone seemed to miss us. There are such nice people there. I got hugged a bunch.

Well, anyway, I left the gift card out in the Honda for some reason that I have not figured out why I didn't keep it in my pocketbook.

Yesterday morning I filled out the card that I had gotten and went out to the Honda to get the gift card. The only problem was that the Honda was not where we left it in the driveway.

Can you believe it? My SUV was stolen from my own driveway. I always lock my doors. It is just a habit but Ken does not (I think he will now). He felt bad because he didn't lock it. They also dug through his truck but Ken could not find anything missing. I can't tell because it is full of stuff.

I personally think it was just kids taking a joy ride or maybe someone looking for a gun. They emptied out his glovebox looking for something. Moved everything in his truck. There was a nice expensive drill in his backseat and they did not take it. That would have been easy to get rid of at a pawn shop. There was also a nice knife in plain sight and they did not take it either.

Of course, I called 911 and they said they would send someone out. They called me back about an hour later and said they were not coming because it was raining. Sheesh! He said they could not get fingerprints from the inside of Ken's truck. I know darn well I have seen them do it on TV.

Where is CSI when you need em'?

Because our 3 vehicles were old my dad would not carry comprehensive on our insurance so there is nothing that I can do. I should have changed that when he passed but I've been so busy I did not even think of it. Since it is a 06, they would not have given me much anyway and I would have paid a lot of the extra coverage so I am not too upset over that.

In fact, I'm not upset at all. I hate it happened and I have never had anything like this happen before but why get upset over something I cannot control? I am just very lucky that I have other means of transportation. I hope that they do find it on the side of the road somewhere. We will just have to wait and see.

Because my garage door opener was my car, Ken figured out a way to put a master lock on it so it could not be opened. He said we could go buy new remotes today to reprogram. It is nice to have someone to go through this with. I sort of like having someone in my corner.

It was a heck of a day. I also received the first notice of wanting payment from my attorney. I went to them last December and they quoted me $1800. She said it could be a little more depending on their time. Evidently, they put more time into it than I knew about because I have done so much myself. I received a bill for $4,700. Now that upset me a little bit. They sent a list of what they did and the date but did not have any times listed. There is not much I can do but I will voice my opinion.

Well, this post should make you feel better about the kind of day you had. You are welcome.

Oh no Torey, yes, what a day you've had! So sorry to hear about your car, but I'm glad to hear that you're not freaked out and upset. But now you've got me worried about my lawyer for my brother. The lawyer quoted me $2000. Maybe I should check in once in awhile and see if that's still on track. I think the cost of advertising in the local papers might be added on, but have no idea what else could be added. There wasn't much in his account to begin with, there won't be anything left to split with my sister. She'll end up getting a check for $23.50.

Yesterday we went to our daughter's to see Hux's baseball game. It was great. Amazing to see some of the skills the 7 year olds already have! Some of them are so small yet that it's adorable to watch them run the bases while trying to keep their helmets from falling off their little heads.

Then we went back to their house to grab something to eat before settling down to watch the Phillies loose. :( It was fun to watch the game together and not just texting back and forth from each of our homes.

Today Mike watched the boys while I went with Kate to get her birthday present. For years she's wanted a $100 bottle of wine just to see if it really could be that much better than the cheap wine we always get. I mean, we usually get $15-20 bottles of wine that are very good, but since she lived in CA she's always wondered what all the fuss was about. I think the plan is to have a blind taste test with our DIL as soon as we can figure out when we can all get together.

So now we're home and will be leaving shortly for our other grandson's elementary school. It's Trunk or Treat night! We've never been to one so this should be fun. We'll bring the boys home with us for a sleep over while their parents meet another couple in town for dinner. Of course we'll have the Phillies game on so it'll be another late night for sure. I just heard from our son. He's coming over in the morning to fix us all breakfast! Yay!! He has a flat top grill and loves to make a full-on breakfast so who am I to argue with that??

Might not be a bad idea. I have been asking all along and they kept saying not to worry about it. I have been dealing with the paralegal. I talked to the lawyer on the phone and he said it was very simple since I had already gotten most everything in my name already. He told me it was so easy that I should consider doing it myself. I wish I had taken that advice.

t's Trunk or Treat night!
Already? I guess it is just right around the corner. What happened to this month? It has flown by. Actually, the whole year has passed quickly to me. And I used to chuckle at older people talking about how time flies. I'm still chuckling but for a whole different reason.

Dad never would let me change the outside light that did not work right so today, we went to Lowes and got a new one. Sort of nice not to have to do it myself. It seems to put out more light. We need to adjust it tomorrow so it goes down the driveway more instead of out in the front yard.

Not sure if a motion detector light will help but. . . it can't hurt. I am also looking a outdoor cameras. Something I can take with me when I depart.

I bought a big bag of Tootsie Pops the other day. There used to be an Indian on the wrapper that was shooting a star. Not a single one has had that on it so I guess they removed it. Well, now I'm off to get one. And no, I have never figured out how many licks it takes to get to the center.

Morning, loungers.

Football later on, Hawks play about 1ish.

Yeah, can't hurt. Theory being that if lights come on, they go elsewhere. And yes on cameras, if the light doesn't shoo them away, you might have some good clues / evidence to help LEOs.

Thank you Uncle Willie, that was a great way to brighten my day a bit. I must say though that certain hosts (looking at you Jimmy) should keep their day job, errr, late night job, rather than trying to sing along with Keith Richards when he's playing classic Stones hits.
