I have returned once again and ridden over 1,000 glorious miles on my Harley. I could not have ordered better weather. I suggested getting some plug-in heat suits for the Winter but it did not go over well. Go figure.

Another good thing happened while I was gone. Another deputy called me in TN and informed me that they had found my Honda. It was stashed behind a deserted house. There was another car stolen not far from me. He seems to think it is gang-related. They are looking for guns (which mine is always on me) and vehicles that can be used in the future when they do something illegal. I still cannot believe it was taken from my driveway.

I was going to have to pay for towing and storage. I tried to talk them into me giving them my credit card and them towing it to my house but they would not. The deputy called me back again and said because they did not follow procedure on my case that the Sheriff's department would pay the cost of towing and storage if I gave them permission to break into my car to dust it for prints. Well, that is a no-brainer. That saved me $282.00. It does not seem fair for the victim to be punished. I was lucky and I am grateful.

There are several new scratches but the only thing I found missing was my 4-in-1 battery charger which I really liked and my cell phone charger. Both can be replaced. I spent all afternoon cleaning it out. The little thugs did not even take the $50 gift card from Hobby Lobby. Guess they were not into crafts. View attachment 1003069

We ended up staying a lot longer than we planned. I thought it was just going to be one night. When we left last Wednesday, it was 52 degrees and I was not sure how cold it would be. I had on 2 pairs of socks, 3 pairs of pants, and 4 shirts and my jacket. We had to stop not too far down the road for me to take some of it off. But it worked out very well because I wore my extra day's clothes instead of packing them. I had clean clothes the whole trip. View attachment 1003071

Going to be busy this week catching up with stuff around the house and Ken has his court date on Thursday from where he got the speeding ticket. It is only 50 miles away. That is nothing to me. View attachment 1003070

The weather changed tonight and it is chilly. That drastic change always makes me hurt. View attachment 1003072 Guess it is that time of year.

Missed everyone and am glad to be back for a little while although, I would go anywhere if I were asked.

Maybe I am out of the loop on car thefts but I just learned there is a thing going on here. Several cars have been stolen near where I live. Apparently, there is some kind of reader they use to get codes off your keys if they are hanging on an outside wall or near the door. With the code, they can unlock and drive your car away with no key.

    Geez....

Thank you and I really miss y'all too. It used to be so easy for me to post when I was away when I used Tap-a-talk. I guess it is not on there anymore because I have not been able to find it. I try to do it on my browser but it sometimes acts weird and is still just a little too small.

I might take one of my tablets and make sure everything personal is off of it. I am leary of using free Wi-Fi in restaurants and hotels. That would make it easier for me to post.

That is just plain scary to think that is even possible. I have learned a lot from this experience. I do not think like a criminal so I found out I was doing a lot wrong. Like I kept my security system key fob in the Honda because it was easier to use when I got home instead of pulling out my phone and the garage door opener. So technically, the one who stole my Honda could have unarmed my system and opened the garage where they could have taken a lot of pawnable stuff.

I also was not locking my door since I had the security system. They could have come into the house too. Now that does scare the bejesus out of me. I am locking doors now.

Something else I learned was you can lock your garage door so the code has to be entered when you are away instead of the remote. There is some way of hacking into the garage door opener. I am not sure how. Again, I do not think like a criminal. It is sad that nowadays, that is exactly what you have to do no matter how safe you feel in your neighborhood.

I woke up with a little bit of a sore throat. I sure hope it goes away. Maybe I was so tired last night, that I snored.

I hate to admit this but I have woke myself up before. Not often but it has happened.

    Morning, loungers.

Heat wave. Only 29 last night, and we made it to 53 yesterday :)

She steadily improved and her tests came back normal so after spending a few hours in the ER hallway they sent her home.

Hope you're right on the pinched nerve, and that's all it was. Pretty scary.

and informed me that they had found my Honda.

Great news, and especially since it hadn't bee parted out!! But wouldn't your insurance cover the tow anyway?

And yep, one heck of a way to pack ;)

The vehicle is a 2006 and I did not have comprehensive insurance on it at the time it was stolen. All 3 have it now. That would have covered it. Live and learn.

Yesterday when I got quotes on reprograming the remote, the Honda dealership was the least expensive. I explained the situation to him and he said that was all I would need.

So here we go today. It ended up being more because Ken said I needed a spare key. It turned into $268. Now. Do you want to know the kicker? The remote will still open the door but will not let them crank it up. So they can still get into it and take whatever I leave in there (which will be nothing of value) but they will not drive it away. I think that will just tic the perp off and they will do damage to the car. To change the locks, the quote was $1,300. Grrrr
    mad.gif

So instead. . . I added comprehensive and I am looking for an outside security camera that records. What do y'all think? Is it the right thing to do?

The only thing about cameras is that unless someone knows the person, they won't be caught. We had someone on video at a store using my stolen cc card but since there was no way to know who he was, couldn't arrest him for it. People on Next Door post pics of perps stealing cars and such all the time but again, unless they are recognized what good are they?

What I do is to NEVER have anything visible in the car. If only I could get my family members to follow that advice when they drive my car....

That is good advice. I only had my battery charger and cellphone charger taken. They did not even take my shopping cart at Aldi's quarter that was in plain sight.

I will be careful what I leave in there now, for sure.

Not a single kid came to my door. We have never had the first one but that's okay with me. I always have candy just in case and I always get what I like.
    1laugh.gif

The meatloaf, steamed cabbage, scalloped potatoes, peaches, and bread were a success. I am not a fancy cook but Ken seemed to like it. We even split a meatloaf sandwich after we watched three scary movies. The Exocist (1973), Saw II an III. I have never really watched horror movies because it is just not my thing. They were bloody but not really what I would call scary. The only time I jumped was when Ken boo'd at me and then I jumped and went to the restroom.
    1laugh.gif

It is 39 degrees right now and is only supposed to get up to 49 today. That's pretty darn chilly. But that is when I get warmer for some reason. I have always said my thermostat did not work right. I would go with Ken to the front porch so he could smoke and I just had my gown on. Ken, on the other hand, was wearing a sweatshirt and wrapped himself in my flamingo blanket. He did look sort of cute.

Have a nice day y'all and stay toasty.

    Morning, all.

Warm night, only down to 35 :) Said to still be nice today, rain tonight, so temps will be moderated some.

I am looking for an outside security camera that records. What do y'all think? Is it the right thing to do?

As mentioned, yes, the problem then is if someone can be found who recognizes the perp. But at least it might give LEO a chance. No pic, not possible. And yes, indeed, nothing valuable visible.

    Morning, all.

Back to summer, soggy and mid-50s. Well, not like this last summer, when it wasn't very soggy at all...

Light rain continues, so inside activities on the agenda.

Hmm, thought "good to the last drop" was about coffee.... ;)

We didn't figure we'd get any treaters at our house so we drove 5 minutes to our son's house. He lives on a street with lots of twin and single homes close together. You know those great big plastic storage tubs? They had it filled with the big bags of candy. There were hoards of treaters with their parents stopping by!! Never saw anything like it. Some families had chairs set up outside with fire pits going, parents walking with their kids were in costumes and the kids looked great. Everybody had such a good time. The township said it should last from 6:00-8:00 and sure enough, by 7:50 the street emptied out and we went inside to warm up. This was the best Halloween ever.

Good morning. Looks like I would have slept better last night since Ken's speeding ticket court date was yesterday and I am not worried about it anymore but I did not.

When they called Ken up, the guy chuckled and said he was representing Hulk Hogan. He gets that all the time because of his mustache. Anyway, they were very nice to him. He had a ticket for 86 in a 70 but they knocked it down to 75 in 70 and gave him a $10 fine. He had told me not to worry but I did anyway like I do everything.

I am so excited. I called Sharon (the couple I have been going out to eat with since I dated her brother) and they will meet us at Bonbon's (my fav restaurant). I have not seen them in a while. We went down there one time and Sharon met Ken (she texted me and said he sure was nice) but her husband was not there. So tonight he will meet Ken. I get them confused sometimes because his name is Kenny and he also has a white mustache.

I guess I am more paranoid than I expected to be about my car getting stolen because I am looking at security cameras now. I hate that I am thinking that way but I guess you have to these days. grrrr

Not much planned for today. Since it is getting cold, I am thinking of getting some deer corn to feed them. I don't think you are supposed to but I watch them every night. Last night there were 5 of them. We used to have 11 out there but I guess all the construction around here is chasing them off. Isn't that sad?

Only down to 43 here last night, likely mid 50s again for the high. Rain is starting to back off, for a little bit. Said to be a soggy weekend.

Anyway, they were very nice to him. He had a ticket for 86 in a 70 but they knocked it down to 75 in 70 and gave him a $10 fine.

I'll say they were nice!!

Uh, why not? Unless your goal is to lure them in for dinner...

If you do, only put out a little at a time. If they eat a belly full of a 'new diet' it can cause them problems. The deer's digestive system has to get used to a new food type.
