While there is certainly undeniable justification to the Israeli response to the Hamas terrorist attack, it makes it no less heartbreaking to see the unfolding of the refugee crisis that is currently taking place ..
It seems to me, Israel is taking a blanket approach as it relates to what borders on outright murder of folks that neither asked for, nor contributed to the original attack .. Israel cloaks that in phrases like 'collateral damage', 'unfortunate casualties of War', etc ..
The sheer devastation shown on the news reels harkens back to the bombing of Dresden and other European cites during WWII .. those newly created refugees will have little to nothing to come back to when this conflict ends up getting resolved, and that makes them as much a victim as anyone .. not to mention the loss of family members and friends ..
This type of scenario does absolutely nothing to win friends and influence people .. in fact, it creates the opposite effect ..
As we approach Veterans Day, it has given me pause to think back to the days when I watched newly created homeless people wandering down roads with no idea what was next .. that the simple idea of having shelter, food and water was ripped from them and they had no place to turn ..
This has been the story, repeated through the pages of Time in so, so many instances ..
I guess I gave up a long time ago on the World coming to its senses .. we can't even seem to come to our senses right here in America ..
The roots of the Jewish State and the Muslim theology run deep and go back a ways .. I just hope that this latest conflict is not the tinder that lights the fuse that then ends up in blazing flames ..
We tend to insulate ourselves, thinking that things like this are far away and beyond what we want to ponder in our everyday lives .. but, it just is not so ..
Find the next thing to watch on TV, have a nice meal, enjoy the comforts that we have become accustomed to .. but at least, leave a part of your Heart open to knowing just how good we have it .. because there are plenty, very much plenty, of those that no longer have such luxury, through no fault of their own
