Morning, all.

Well, sunny here, but not warm :) Claimed rain won't be back until dark, so they say.

I'm counting my blessings because I can't imagine living in Iceland waiting for a volcano to erupt! If you had to leave your home quickly, what would you take?

No, that would NOT be fun!!

What would I take? Well, my spouse and cat. Then important docs, meds, vape gear and nic stash, and all my electronics, which hold a LOT of data! (Or at least the numerous backup drives and fobs, if in a hurry!)

Good morning all. It is 42 now but going to get up in the sixties. Another beautiful sunny day. I would not mind going out of the bike again. Yesterday was beautiful for riding but not so good for what I ate.

That's okay. It is another day and I can try again.

Since we are not going to TN for Thanksgiving, my aunt is expecting us at her house. Ken said it was fine with him so I guess that is where we will be. My cousin has requested my broccoli salad and deviled eggs. She is crazy about that salad.

My cousin who lives in South Carolina called me last night and said the only way I could eat supper with them is if I let him take my bike out for a ride. I told him I would drop off the salad and eggs then because I just did not see that happening. I know he did dirt bike racing when he was younger but that does not matter. He may be stronger than he looks but the first time I saw him a couple of years ago, I was careful when I hugged him because he is one of the littlest men I have ever known and I did not want to hurt him. He also reminds me of a tiny Keith Urbin. heehee Oh well. We will see. I plan on eating because his mother likes me and I am much better at saying no than I used to be.

Why am I up so early? Coffee. That's why.

And it is good.

Y'all have a nice day.

When I decided to ask for a divorce, I took my jewelry and nicotine in the freezer. Sure wish I had taken the other important things since he kept what he wanted of my stuff. Live and learn. I can tell you one thing, I will never go through another bad divorce.

I still cannot comprehend losing everything like Ken did in the flood a couple years ago. They showed me the pictures and it was unbelievable. I hope I never go through anything like that.

Morning, loungers.

Another soggy day, although they claim it will clear up by the afternoon. Just in time for the next front to roll in :)

At least it's snow at higher elevations.

Guess everyone has been busy today. Hope you all enjoyed it.

It was another beautiful day. Ken's chopper needs some work because the last time I rode it, it backfired and jerked so I told him I would not ride on it until it is fixed. It needs to be driven so he took it out today by himself and I went down to Sharon and Kenny's for a visit. I had such a good time. I think it is a good thing to have some away time from each other.

I need to do some grocery shopping tomorrow. It will be more away time because Ken does not like grocery shopping. Who does anymore? But it must be done. grrrr

Hope everyone sleeps well and has a wonderful Monday.

Good morning people. Going all the way up to 45 here today but it's sunny with lots of blue sky.

Your cousin was kidding about you not eating with them unless you let him ride your cycle? Good for you saying no, but I wouldn't drop off the food if that was the requirement.

So, this is turkey week and it's going to be busy. I think I have all the ingredients for what I'm making. Gonna be a lot of cooking going on in this house on Tues and Wed!! For T-day we're taking a few sides and gravy to our daughter's house and they're making the rest. On Tues our contractor is coming back to finish up painting the powder room and adjusting our wobbly toilet. Today we're picking up our grandsons from school since it's early dismissal day. Then we're taking our cat Maggie for a vet check up. Mike is trimming bedroom doors so they clear the carpet. What ever happened to a quiet, boring retirement?

Morning, all.

After some light morning rain, it's said to clear up. We'll see. :)

Has grocery shopping ever been "fun"? But, just like filling up the car, one does need fuel ;)

When my kids were little the highlight of my week was going grocery shopping. When they were beyond infant age Mike watched the kids and I got to go all by my lone self. It was wonderful. These days, not so much. I should live above my favorite grocery store, then I could just run downstairs and get whatever was needed.

The phone etiquette is actually a thing, but not for sending a text. That really is a near miss. I often text people to ask if they're free for a phone call.

What's the deal on 18650 batteries .. ?? I've been using the same two I bought when I got the Aegis, which has been a few years now .. thought it might be a good idea to get a couple new ones at this point since one of mine seems to be getting a little wonky ..

When I was a kid, my Mother did not drive .. in fact, she never drove her whole life .. so, the old man would drive her to the grocer, he'd sit out in the car puffing on a Lucky .. when she finally emerged, it always looked to me like such a load, all those big brown paper bags

Last time I got some, I went here:

Fast shipping, no issues. I do like the Molicel, great for us tootlers.

I probably run mine longer than many. If a fresh cell lasts a full tank, I keep them in service. Otherwise, they head to the box for flashlights :)

And check Mooch's tests

The right hand pic is 18650s.

(Seems like there's a newer one, but can't find it...)

Mike just replaced all of our batteries. He thought one of his PVs was going wonky, but realized it was probably the battery he was using. It's been a long time since he bought batteries and decided an overhaul was in order. I'm sure he'll chime in here sometime this morning.

I can't imagine going through life without driving, but a lot of people don't. I guess if you live in a big city there's plenty of public transportation and parking costs a fortune so I can understand not even owning a car.

After my uncle died my aunt had to learn to drive. I tried to teach her and decided she was someone who should never get behind the wheel. I'd stopped over to take her out again and she proudly told me I didn't have to because she passed her drivers test. WHAT????? Yep, the cop who tested her just thought she was nervous taking the test and he passed her. Oh no! Where is this cop so I can set him straight? I told her I'd never ride in the car with her and she should let me know when she was going out so I could avoid the area. Sheesh.

When I was a teen, my aunt who had never driven in her life got a DL by paying a cop $50. She tried to get my mother to do the same. My mom had been practicing but was struggling and worrying about the written since she only went to 4th or 5th grade. Had to work on the farm instead of going to school. Anyway, my mother refused, said it was dishonest and she took the test and passed but had to retake once as she failed the written the first time.

I just disposed every old 18650 in the house (about 18-20 batts). I guess they ranged from about 3 years to 10 years old. One of my top end mods was being funky. Sometimes the screen would come on,sometimes not until I turn it off/on and other times I could slowly watch the screen ‘paint’ the display on. I was sad that the screen was going bad as it was an expensive mod.

But when I put the battery on a charger the charger went wacky. Showed the voltage jumping from 3.4v to 4.6V and various numbers inbetween. Uh oh, something not right here. About 6 month’s ago I bought some Molicel’s from 18650BatteryStore on sale (top rated by Mooch) so I put one of those in the flakey mod and haven’t had an issue with it since (knock on wood).

Hence I decided to ditch all the old batts and now all our mods are running fresh Molicel’s. And boy do they last a long time compared to our old worn down batts. And I don’t have to worry about an old batt going wonky and maybe killing one of our mods.

    Morning, all.

They're still guessing clear skies for a while. But with highs approaching 50, don't think we'll be dining outside anyway ;)

Yeah, that IS a bit not right! Never seen that happen, but apparently something wonky inside the cell. Internal short?

Appreciate the tips on the 18650's .. ordered 4 from 18650batterystore.com, Molicel P28A 18650 2800mAh 35A .. was just going to get 2, but the shipping on 4 was the same as the shipping on 2 .. and, these were on sale at $3.75 each .. score ..

The main reason I asked about batteries was, I did a search yesterday and prices were all over the map .. the two I currently have I believe are Samsung .. they have given me good service over at least 3 years .. one, however, now has a dented metal top ..

I did learn an interesting fact, in as much as you can trust the Web :: Tesla uses literally thousands of 18650's in each of it's vehicles .. that whacky Elon Musk ..

On my Mother and driving .. she was born in 1919, so I'd have to guess it was not, perhaps odd, that she never drove .. back in her late teens / twenties, it was not likely the right of passage that it became later .. as a kid growing up in San Antonio, I walked to grade school and by the time of Jr High / High School, I either has school bus transport or I took a city bus .. got a motorcycle when I turned 15 as well as a job after school .. and I was good to go ..

I still keep up my motorcycle license to this day, although I sold my last Harley a few years back .. my reflexes and my nerves were having a hard time on two wheels and I just decided that, in the Modern World of rampant distracted drivers, the juice was just no longer worth the squeeze ..

Lastly, if you're a gear head or just like history, if you ever end up near Maggie Valley, NC, take some time to visit my old friend Dale Walksler's place ::

Dale passed sometime back .. I was friends with him for at least 40 years .. he even had a brief TV reality show .. I believe his son still runs the place .. it's a worthwhile visit ..

I suspect you'll also get two two cell holders ;) Even better on sale!

Yeah, dents aren't good. And I have replaced a few wraps over time. But dents, yeah, replace.

Yeah, my original cell holder is looking pretty ragged .. I carry the extra battery in it in my pocket ..

    Pants pocket inventory ::

    Battery in holder
1900 Silver Dollar my Grandpa gave me
Small Pill Holder with Mid Day meds and a few pain pills
    Comb
    Loose Change
    Cash on Money Clip
    Tiny Guitar Tuner
    Some Guitar Picks
    Swiss Army Knife
Thin wallet with a few Credit Cards / Insurance Card / Medicare Card / VA ID Card / DL
    Phone

It's not nearly as bad as it sounds .. I should get a Murse / Man Bag

Yep, 7 to 8,000 cells to power a Tesla depending on year and model. And all the battery operated hand tool battery packs are bundles of 18650's if you open one up. Just in the last year or so they're now selling extended run time tool batteries and these are bundles of 21700 batteries. (used in a lot of the high wattage and dual battery mods.

So where do disgarded Lion-ion batteries wind up? In some hazardous waste disposal dump? I've not heard anything about reclaiming the 'innards' and re-using it.
