New pet peeve here. People walking while reading their phones and not looking where they are going. I had to stop for one and go around another one. They never even looked up. Sheesh!

Thought people would still be eating leftovers but both Walmart and Sam's were crowded. Good thing I was not in a hurry.

Hope everyone has a nice evening and sleeps well too.

Morning, lizards.

Well, you did get a bit lower than here, but not by much. 23 overnight, heading to, maybe, 40?

Which would break yesterday's high...

Yeah, but walking while texting isn't as bad as driving while texting... been lots of "funny" vids for years about walking. Into pools, walls...

Hey everyone. I was pleasantly surprised yesterday morning because I was not sore. For some reason this morning I was a bit stiff. Delayed reaction maybe. The only place I walked today was to my aunt who lives 2 doors down. She wanted me to write out some of her checks for her.

Yesterday I made a chicken pie from leftover rotisserie chicken. Took her some before Ken and I headed out on the bike. She told me I needed to start watching what I was eating because she could tell that I had gained some weight. Because it was so cold, I had on 3 pairs of pants (thermals, lined leggings and blue jeans) and 3 shirts and a jacket. She couldn't believe we were going out on the bike. When we got home last night it was 36 degrees but other than my nose, I did not get cold.

Tonight, Ken suggested spaghetti and that was fine with me because it is so easy to take out of the freezer. He is watching movies now and I fixed myself a big o'l cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows and started Temuing! Yay and yum!

Hope everyone is staying warm. Sleep tight.

I visit the Post Office at least once or twice a week, the ladies know me that work there and always say Hi, Willie .. today, I saw that the big bulletin board was gone, so I asked one of the ladies and she said they had gotten a complaint that the bulletin board was 'offensive' and they took it down ..

Public Bulletin Boards have been around as long as I can remember .. public posting of things probably goes back to the Roman Empire and back in the day, these boards were always a good source of local info, businesses advertising, even Law Enforcement wanted posters ..

I'd browse the one at the Post Office periodically, sometimes finding something useful ..

I have no idea what someone found to be offensive enough to file a complaint, but I do think it's sad .. things in this World just seem to get chipped away, piece by piece

"A" complaint... not tons. Yeah, makes one wonder. How about someone on the "10 most wanted" board complains that it puts him in a tight spot? Take 'em down!

Finally getting something productive done. We finished going through the garage. I did not realize Dad had as many tools as he did but when I was growing up, he did work on everyone's cars. Police, neighbors, the doctor who delivered me.

Everybody.

We loaded up the back of Ken's truck again and we have a huge metal pile that we are going to sell. Found a bunch of really old car tools. Going to have to Google Lens a bunch of things. I will try to sell it if I can or just have an estate sale and let someone else worry with it. I am ready to move on to the next chapter.

Happy Friday to all. Hope everyone has a great weekend planned.

Morning, all.

Soggy day here, but still in a heat wave, only 37 overnight, heading to maybe 40 ;)

We finished going through the garage.

Yeah, estate sale might be easier than piecing it out. Maybe off load the bulk of it that way.

In the past, I've never made a secret of my respect and admiration for Dolly Parton .. she should be an example for all of us ..

The rampant ageism that permeates our Society is an unacceptable consequence of our fixation on youth and the fountain thereof .. Parton, over many years, has admitted and made fun of herself as it relates to various cosmetic surgeries, etc .. she's not pretending, she's honest about it ..

I've followed Parton since she first appeared on 'The Porter Waggoner Show', oh so many years ago .. yes, she's always been an attractive woman, but her attraction goes well beyond her outward looks and into the realm of pure talent .. not to mention her charitable endeavors

When she was announced as an inductee to the R&R Hall of Fame, she turned it down, then went on to make a Rock album and allowing induction .. and, it's a good album, to top it all off ..

People want to group us, the older Generation, into our own box, they want to decide for us what is appropriate and what is not, based on our years .. it's a form of discrimination in my opinion and it's just wrong .. we can and are able to be vital, contributing members of Society

So don't give in to the idea that you have to stay in your own lane ..

At any rate, I don't know if any watched the Thanksgiving Day game, but the halftime show generated quite an outpouring of opinions as it related to Parton's selection of an outfit ..

I say, 'Go for it girl' .. you decide ::

For those that actually took the time to view my latest ham-fisted attempt on this clip ::

Back years ago, a group of us would participate in what was then called Google Hangouts .. this generally took place in the evenings, and lasted long enough for various ECF members that were 'in the know', to drift in and out .. it was strongly dependent on the quality of your Internet speed, yet, pre-Pandemic, allowed us to have some degree of Facetime .. it gradually just became another part of history ..

I would sometimes take a screen shot with my camera, I don't know why ..

So, you have Kenna, Johnny (iffy) and Patrick (2legsshort) in the opening .. I can't guess, other than myself, who appears in the thumbnails ..

The stage photo I took was BB Kings set up from St. Louis in April 2014 at the Peabody Opera House .. I had known Mr. King for at least 40 years, having first met him in Memphis way back when and, having been fortunate enough to have worked on a Lucille or 3 over the years ..

After that show, I had the opportunity to visit with him backstage in his dressing room for maybe 30 minutes, just him and I .. he shook my hand as I left with that bear paw grip that he had .. he was gone the following year ..

Other than wrong game (T-day game ;) ), I agree. As do many of the comments below the vid :) Uh, Cowboys game, Cowgirl costume. Seems appropriate to me.

I was surprised as I got older to find people don't value my opinions, even family. They look at me like they are just tolerating until I shut up. Then they do whatever and don't care what I think about it. Sometimes it is depressing.

Dolly is one of a kind.

Reminds me of something attributed to Mark Twain, along the lines of "the older I got, the smarter my dad was."

Seems to be forgotten, these days. But I guess 80 is the real cut-off date, Biden (81) is old, Trump (79) is not?

If so, I still have 5 years before I get forgotten ;)

Years ago, we thought to distrust anyone over the age of 30 .. yet, in many areas of the World, seniority is considered wisdom and to be celebrated .. oh, how our Society tends to lock out a faction of the Populace .. to their own detriment .. that is, unless some Big Company is trying to sell you whatever the latest snake oil is

Twain is my Bard .. :) .. he was fascinated by aging

Wrinkles should merely indicate where smiles have been.

Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter.

When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years.

When your friends begin to flatter you on how young you look, it's a sure sign you're getting old.

Glad I was productive yesterday because I have not been worth a darn today. It has been a rainy day here and I have yet to get out of my jammies. Its been that kind of day.
