Morning, lizards.

The rain did stop, about mid-day. More headed in in a bit, but not the "river", and temps are down, so it will be - and stay! - snow up high.
so this morning I was trucking down, in my pajamas, in 36-degree weather,

Hope they're flannel!

It was fish night last night. We went to Sharon and Kenny's and rode with them to Harbor Inn. They have great seafood. I got the same thing I always get. The shrimp was good. Ken got Alaskan Flounder and it was really good. So thick and there were 4 big pieces. I ate several bites of his and I might get it next time. I am always afraid of fish bones but there were none tonight.

Tonight, we are supposed to go to my fav restaurant Bonbon's with my aunt and cousin. Every time I have taken Ken there, he wants the ribs. They are awesome. The best I have had where I live and I have tried a bunch of places. You just grab the bone and it slides out completely clean. So tender. My mouth is already watering. No wonder I have gained 10 lbs. grrrr

After we left their house, we stopped by the Moose Lodge and everyone was so glad to see us. They are awfully nice to us. They are having a band there tomorrow tonight and Ken said we might go listen to them. I do love to see people sing and play. Probably because I do neither very well. heehee

We cleaned out a small closet today. Dad has kept every cell phone he ever owned and the box it came in. Found an old Polaroid camera still in the box. It was so heavy I could hardly hold it up with my thumbs. They have been bothering me something fierce lately. If I had insurance, I would go get some cortisone shots in them.

We found an old and heavy adding machine. The kind where you put the numbers in and had to pull the handle down. Glad they had that in the closet instead of the attic. Not sure how old it is but I remember dad using it when I was real little and that has been a good while ago. heehee

Happy Saturday to all. Hope you have a lovely day. It is going to get up to 68 here but 85% chance of rain on Sunday. My joints and bones are already feeling the rain. Oh well, it could always be worse.

Good morning all. I am here to tell you that 3 hours of sleep is not enough.

Just one of those nights but that is okay because I am a professional. Insomniac that is. I am glad my motorcycle has armrests so I won't fall off when I take my nap.

Good morning people. 40 degrees here going up to 52. No rain thank goodness because we're going to our son's house for the annual Christmas parade. We have to walk a few blocks so Mike got the bright idea to take the beach cart so we didn't all have to carry our chairs, water bottles, blankets etc to set up along the parade route. It's a lovely parade our local community puts on every year, Then it's back to our son's house for Miles 9th birthday party. Wow, 9 years old already.

In the past, I've never made a secret of my respect and admiration for Dolly Parton .. she should be an example for all of us ..

The rampant ageism that permeates our Society is an unacceptable consequence of our fixation on youth and the fountain thereof .. Parton, over many years, has admitted and made fun of herself as it relates to various cosmetic surgeries, etc .. she's not pretending, she's honest about it ..

I've followed Parton since she first appeared on 'The Porter Waggoner Show', oh so many years ago .. yes, she's always been an attractive woman, but her attraction goes well beyond her outward looks and into the realm of pure talent .. not to mention her charitable endeavors

When she was announced as an inductee to the R&R Hall of Fame, she turned it down, then went on to make a Rock album and allowing induction .. and, it's a good album, to top it all off ..

People want to group us, the older Generation, into our own box, they want to decide for us what is appropriate and what is not, based on our years .. it's a form of discrimination in my opinion and it's just wrong .. we can and are able to be vital, contributing members of Society

So don't give in to the idea that you have to stay in your own lane ..

At any rate, I don't know if any watched the Thanksgiving Day game, but the halftime show generated quite an outpouring of opinions as it related to Parton's selection of an outfit ..

I say, 'Go for it girl' .. you decide ::

You'll have to click on the link, damned NFL

I love Dolly Parton! What a talent and such a classy lady.

I finally put out a few Christmas decorations. Not many this year. I will be spending Christmas in TN so I did not want much.

I took a truckload of my and my parent's Christmas decorations to two different thrift stores today. I don't think Ken could have fit one more Christmas ball in the back of my Honda CRV. He even had the back seats down. I could have put them all up this year and outdid the Griswald's on Christmas Vacation. I love that movie. I have already seen it for this year. Hey. I guess I do have a Christmas tradition that Janet was talking about. Yay!

He has said we could have a yardsale but I had just rather donate it and let someone else get some joy out of them. I guess I also did not want to take the time or trouble to do it. I sure am getting lazy. View attachment 1004753

We finally got our tree up, but I want to watch It's A Wonderful Life while I decorate it. It's just a pencil tree which suits us fine these days. Love that movie and it gets me into the Christmas spirit. We got rid of the large tree before we moved. Mike got his Dept. 56 houses set up and it looks lovely. We just put up a few decorations, not much so packing it all up on 1/2/24 shouldn't be much trouble.

I gave up on yard sales. They're just so much work. I usually schedule a Vietnam Veterans pick up - had them on speed dial before we moved. Maybe I'm getting lazy, but this seems to be a win-win situation.

I mixed up 3 different cookie doughs and put them in the fridge. On Thursday and Friday I baked batches of 2 of them. Tomorrow I'll make the cut-out cookies. They take a long time due to decorating them. I still have a new chocolate cherry cookie I wanted to try out. Maybe sometime this week if I have time. Now I just have to resist eating them before Christmas.

I'm still struggling to come up with Christmas presents for the boys. They don't play with toys so much these days. They've graduated to games on their iPads mostly. Even their parents aren't much help. Boy do we miss Toys R Us!! At least they can play with each other on the iPads.

Morning, all.

Seems we're between storms, and the incoming ones are, well, just storms, not rivers :)

Cooler temps as well, so the streams and rivers should continue to go down.

Found an old Polaroid camera still in the box.

Depending on it's age, it might be worth a few $$ to the right collector.

Good morning people.

Wow, going up to 60 today, but the rain is coming. Could get up to 1" if the weather forecasters are right.

Yesterday 14 family members gathered and walked the few blocks up to the parade route. As usual it was a very nicely done community effort. Then we went back to the house for Miles party. He wanted burgers for his birthday meal so our son cooked up a bunch of smash burgers and we stuffed ourselves. Then, of course, we had birthday cakes - 2 of them actually, plus cannolis. So much for any thoughts of dieting.

Today I want to make the cut out cookies and we need to make room for a new fridge to be delivered tomorrow. The freezer on our garage fridge quit working and we figured it wasn't worth it to repair an old fridge. Home Depot had a garage ready fridge on sale so we decided to get that one. Just a simple fridge/freezer. I had no idea there was such a thing as a "garage ready" fridge. Guess I should also fold the clothes in the dryer too. They've been in there for 3 days so they must be well rested by now.

Morning, all.

Well, maybe we'll get a break from the rain today... yesterday's "only a storm" was anything but, dropped 1 1/3" here, other points got more. So, more than the previous "river" gave us...

I had no idea there was such a thing as a "garage ready" fridge.

Uh, neither did I! Does it have thermal socks on it's feet to stand up to the cold cement? ;)

You're close. It has insulation around the motor and compressor where as a standard fridge does not.

Morning, loungers.

Seems we're done with rain for a bit, and hopefully the freezing level will come back down while there's still some snow up high.

Aha. One would hope they leave enough open for the motor to properly cool.

It would be to the right collector but the problem is locating him/her. When I say this thing was heavy, I mean it. It killed my thumbs. It is funny to see how things have become so improved and lighter. You can also see the quality things used to have too.

We had a little over 3 1/2 inches of rain yesterday and I felt every drop.
1YES.gif
Ken accidentally left the back window cracked last night when we stopped by this little bar, so the Honda has its doors open today and hopefully, it will dry out. It was unreal how much rain came in. Wet all the way to the other side of the car. He thought I was going to be so mad but I only get perturbed at things people do intentionally.

The bar is going to have their Christmas party next Saturday and I hope we can go. They always have such good food there. I still say free food tastes better.

They are having a Dirty Santa and I have never done that. It could be fun or at least fun watching. I have never been to a Christmas party unless you count eating supper with my aunt. I think it sounds like fun. I wish I had a picture of my face when the lady asked Ken and me if we did Dirty Santa. I was not sure what she was talking about.

I am on my second cup of coffee. One was just not enough. We have Christmas shopping to start but it is going to be extremely easy. Ken says he always gives gift cards to his family. I'll go along with that. Less stress on me.

There was a tornado touched down so close to where Ken lives. He texted the lady he parks his camper on to make sure they were okay and thank goodness, they were. The videos were awful to see and quite scary. Since he lost everything in the flood two years ago, I am glad he did not lose anything in this tornado.

Hope everyone has a great Monday. My joints and I are going to chill out and dry out today.

Does he live near Clarksville? Here is my post from another thread:

We are very fortunate so I won't complain about the 3 plus hours waiting for a tow truck that never came and and another 2 plus hours at tire shop.

During the tornadoes, We hardly had any wind and power only flickered and came back on. Today I ventured out to take the car due to a flat from all the debris. Less than a half mile from me is utter destruction. One business was wiped out except for block walls. Debris is piled up everywhere and I passed at least 100 trucks on the side of the road working on power lines. They are heroes and are working around the clock. Houses with siding and roofs ripped off, windows blown out. One lady was crying cause power is still off, it is cold and her food all spoiled.

Moral is to count our blessings. At 72, I have lived through volcano eruption, several earthquakes, hurricanes and now tornadoes. I don't want any more, please.

Finished up with some Christmas cookies today, but still want to make the cream cheese cookie press ones. They should go much quicker.

Got the new fridge delivered today and it's on its way to getting nice and cold. Tomorrow I can get the freezer loaded up and it will be nice to have that extra room for Christmas.

What!!! That's a lot of rain! We had some hard rain last night here in PA, but I'm sure it wasn't that much.

Had to look that up because I'd never heard of it before. We usually call it white elephant and it is a lot of fun. With all the stuff at your house you want to get rid of this seems like a good opportunity!

Wow, didn't realize you lived so close to the tornado! Geese louise you've escaped a lot. Have you thought about moving to PA or buying some lottery tickets?

Pretty dang lucky, I’d say, from reading how close it was to you and all the destruction just a short distance away.

    Good planning? ;) Yeah, fortunate!!

Looks to be sun for a few days here, temps close to average for a change, i.e. not way over or under. How odd.
