My ex got the gas grill in the divorce Dad never would buy me one. Since he passed, I have not really needed one but I am sure I will get one when I get to where I am going land.

If the power was out too awfully long, I would walk and get some. I really need my coffee in the morning. View attachment 1006275

I was impressed when I ate at my aunt's Christmas. My cousin had a Ninja Woodfire. He programmed his phone and it fixed the best New York Strips I have ever had on a gas grill. It did everything. Airfried too. It was $400 on Amazon and I was close to buying one that night. That is how impressed I was. But there is NOTHING that can compare to a charcoal grill. I have one of those and I might could have boiled water on it. I'm not sure. View attachment 1006277

This probably belongs in the 'outside' thread but this is what I woke up to and damn it makes me mad.
That is so sad. What is the purpose of removing a 130-year-old statue? Rehabilitation? I don't get it. I have gotten sad when I hear about any hundred-plus statues being removed. You cannot erase history but we can learn from it. Sometimes, I don't think we have learned a darn thing.

Yes, I am! I got 18 items in last week and I already have a cart full. View attachment 1006282
I am even thinking about ordering the one that uses tea light candles since I have a bunch of them and don't use them.

Ok, I ordered it thanks to you. I have a fire pit and gas grill but this would be so much easier to deal with in bad weather.

Well, what did The Rat do today that was ridiculous? I tried to boil a pot of water to make a gallon of tea and went and forgot about it. I was doing my jigsaw puzzle on my laptop and Ken asked me what I was cooking. Yep. Boiled all the water out and was burning the bottom of the pan. I scrubbed on that pan for a very long time. I got it off and I think it is ok. I fixed my tea. Things like this are starting to happen at an alarmingly frequent rate. It is what it is. I just laugh when I do something like that. (and then I tell y'all)

Good morning. Looks like this is shaping up to be a wet winter in our area. Supposed to get 1-2" of rain today. Although it's going to 53 today the next 10 days will be in the 30s. Seems to me last year I peeked at the Farmers Almanac and it said, absent a pop-up Nor'easter, we were going to have a cold and wet winter. So how do they know this when our local weather people have trouble with 2 days from now?

@Rat2chat2 I've done the burning pot routine several times because I walk away and get distracted by doing something else. (us women are always trying to multi-task) Mike has had to use his drill with a brass or steel brush to scour it back to usable shape. Now I set the timer so I don't forget. I can still hear my Dad telling me never to turn on the spigot and then leave the room. Yep, too easy for disaster to follow.

    Morning, all.

Storm rolled in earlier than guessed, middle of the night instead of early morning. Just over 1/2" of rain so far, still coming down. Some heavy winds, still dark so don't know what came down.

I've had to do that a few times as well.... Good idea on the timer!

I was a late bloomer when it came to on-line Banking .. then, as stamp prices continued to escalate and Postal Delivery times began to deteriorate, I began to dip my toe into adding an account here and there with which to pay from my checking accounts .. I'm pretty much all on-line payment at this point .. it's a savings, especially since I maintain multiple utility accounts, separate personal / business CC's, etc ..

I have never used any service like GrubHub, DoorDash, etc .. I mean, sure, I've ordered pizzas before for delivery, but the last one was before there was any GrubHub, DoorDash .. I prefer to actually pick it up .. still do .. and, I remain a cash money paying customer ..

The Pandemic really began an acceleration of things I just don't care for .. the elimination of actual printed coupons (use our app so the Server Farms can gather even more info on you) .. order on-line and pick up your order (and give us your CC number so, er, the Server Farms can gather even more info on you) .. and more ..

Then, there is 'Sorry, sir, we don't accept cash money ..' Well, wait a minute, it's the coin of the Realm .. can you read the cash .. ?? 'This note is legal tender for all debts Public and Private ..' And the folks that you hand a $20 to and the .28 cents in change you owe on a $16.28 tab and they look at it with a blank stare, you know they are thinking 'What am I supposed to do with this .. ??' ..

It's funny, since the legal weed trade is still all cash as well as Casino play is still cash .. 'We'll take your money if you're paying for a vice, but don't even think about cash if you're picking up a widget at Widget Masters ..

There is one thing that the Pandemic helped hatch / grow .. curbside pickup .. rather than have to schlepp 10 bags of mulch or three 80 pound bags of concrete at the Home Depot, I can log on, order the mulch, a kid brings it out and loads it in the truck .. any other time, you'd have to hunt said kid down if you wanted some assistance and wait 20 minutes .. but, of course, to do this, you have to use a CC ..

Lastly, we are becoming a Nation of vices .. I'm not against it .. the Powers that Be see a thing they can collect taxes on and suddenly, even the most Red State in the Country, Missouri, says 'Well, all our people are going out of State to get their weed, why don't we legalize it and collect that money .. ? .. I get it .. It's a win / win, less incarceration, increased tax revenue ..

I just can't abide by these Bible-thumping hypocrites .. I suppose if abortion was heavily taxed, it might become a slam dunk Nation Wide ..

It's always about the Benjamins ..

Yeah, no. I don't use any apps for that, either. Have one cc attached to Paypal, NOTHING connected to any other banking account, not even PP although they keep asking and claiming that it's safe. Uh huh.

Following Adam's accident we were in CA for 6 weeks. When we got back I set up auto payments for things like elec, mortgage, phone etc. To avoid late charges I even have an auto minimum payment on the 2 CCs we have and then make additional payments of my choosing. Now I don't have to worry about those bills getting paid and I've saved a ton on postage and having to deal with non-pmt due to my mail getting lost.

So now our mailbox mostly just gets stuffed with junk mail. It would be helpful to hook the back of our mailbox up to our trash can but I'm afraid I'd miss a notice about an inheritance from a long lost relative...

I'm not really for paperless billing .. send me a real bill .. T-Mobile offers $5.00 off if you auto pay, so I did do that .. the rest of them I pay manually via Ethernet wired PC on a VPN ..

What's funny is, not soon after you begin paying on-line, the cheap .......s stop sending a return envelope with which to mail a payment in ..

I can well remember return envelopes years ago where the postage was pre-paid .. well, that went the route of the dodo

    Morning, all.

Sort of in between fronts for now, only light rain and the winds have backed off.

Latest guesses have the freeze level down to the sea in a couple days, but not predicting temps much below freezing there. Maybe mid 20s for overnight, happy to stay above the teens!!

Geez, I've never had a store refuse cash payment. I tend to like using my debit card unless the charge is only a couple bucks. I don't like carrying loose change in my pocket and if I pay in cash I'm probably going to get some coins returned to me.

One thing I usually do if I'm buying something for a couple bucks and only have 20's in my wallet and don't want to use the Debit Card for a couple $ charge is ask the clerk if they'd prefer me using the card to avoid giving me $17 or $18 and change back on the purchase.

I did not even think of that. Good idea. I started with a Brillo pad but got tired quickly. The pumice stone made a big difference. That timer idea is a good one too. That would be easy to do. Thanks.

I rarely get anything important either. I get the Informed Delivery every morning and if it's junk, I just wait til the next time I have something. I love the informed delivery email.

Me either. That does not seem legal. When I was a teller I hated the Susan B's so I would buy them out of my drawer to get rid of them. One day I filled up with gas and the attendant told me he would not accept them. I told him it was money and he could have that or I would thank him for the gas. He took them.

We had hard winds and rain all day yesterday. After reading so many alerts I filled the tub up with water just in case we lost power. I have a well and it is best to be prepared.

Fixed a big crockpot of beef stew yesterday and the house smelled so good. Ken liked it a lot. I took my aunt some of it today. I usually do that when I fix a big amount. She appreciates it so much. I took her banana pudding Monday and she called just to tell me how good it was. I like sharing.

I am fixing kielbasa and sauerkraut for supper. I usually fix mine with onions and green peppers but Ken mentioned he likes it with kraut. I know kraut is healthy to eat and good for your gut.

Have a nice evening friends.
