Morning, all.

Cold night, 24 atm and heading to, uh, 25? But only a dusting of snow here, and don't need to go out anyway.

Lastly, electricity and telecommunications outages can take out digital networks and people's access to funds with them .. just something to think about

Yup. See a news story now and then during outages where stores are "power out - cash only",

uh....

Well I don't like carrying cash, especially after a dear friend was assaulted/robbed in view of several people in a grocery store parking lot.

Sorry to hear of this, but I'm generally packing heat, so I don't worry about it ..

And, I have, more than once, stated I use credit cards online of course, and if I buy something in person where card use would extend the original warrantee some .. just no debit card ..

I believe the invention of the debit card is not based on consumer convenience .. it is based on eliminating the 'float' between when you used to write a check and it took it's time to get thru the system .. which caused 'kite' schemes ..

The real irony, for me, is, a debit card immediately gets processed, no matter the time of day or day of the week .. yet, I can pay a bill via my checking account(s) on-line and if it's a Friday, it won't get to the payee until Monday, Tuesday if it's a Holiday ..

This is simply Banks taking advantage of the same concept as 'float' in reverse .. they earn money by holding my money as long as possible ..

What can you do .. ??

And now, many places will scan a check and clear it on the spot as well... I have our accounts set to send me a text for any action over a certain amount, and if that's exceeded at check-out, I'll get a text before we're out the door, so the only "advantage" I see in a debit card it one doesn't need a pen.

No, not because it is going to rain but because when it rains, I am sure I will not feel like changing the sheets or much of anything else. Me and the rain do not play well together. View attachment 1006487

I got in bed but ended up getting back up. I wish I could fall asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. I envy those who can.

And besides, who doesn't love clean sheets? Rain or shine. View attachment 1006488
Aw, I was just pulling your leg. Glad it didn't come off in my hand

It was warm and the sun was out until we got dressed and took the bike out. As soon as we started, it got dark. It felt good riding though. I haven't been on it since before Christmas. We got a little riding in before I felt the first raindrop. Then we headed home. Glad we got home before it started pouring. I have not had that experience yet but I'm sure I will at some point. Temu has some nice rain suits. heehee

We have not been to the Moose Lodge in a while either so that is where we went tonight. Ken had the ribs (which were so tough he had to gnaw on them) and I had their awesome salad bar. He did get pretty frustrated with them and I did have to chuckle at him. It was nice seeing the people there that have been so nice to me. They all said they had missed me. Made me feel good.

Oh, I almost forgot to tell you. I woke up agitated this morning. I looked at my phone as soon as I got my glasses on and the Galaxy Store had installed TikTok on my phone without my permission. Grrrr
mad.gif
I uninstalled it immediately without even opening it. The last "security" update I had on my phone, Verizon or Samsung installed 4 games on my phone too. It just is not right. Has anyone had this particular issue? Just wondering.

That's all the ranting for now! Gosh, that felt good.

Morning, all.

Brisk. Overnight low was 17, after yesterday's high of 26. Said to be similar for at least another couple days...

the Galaxy Store had installed TikTok on my phone without my permission.

Not good. I suspect Samsung is the culprit, never had that problem on my Motorola, and also on Verizon.

Good morning. Must have rained last night but it's just overcast here now. Going to 50 today, but the cold is coming for the next 10 days. Not looking forward to that, but mostly I'm going from the warm car to a warm building so not too bad. I see neighbors out walking their dogs and just feel sorry for them!

This house has a Flush Wood Cape Cod Insert in the fireplace. It has a glass door so view the fire. We've had 2 fires in it and are very pleasantly surprised. it looks small, but it really puts out the heat, the wood burns longer and it's pretty much fuss free. Much more efficient than just using the fireplace and we don't have to keep such a close eye on it. I think with this cold snap coming we're going to be using it a lot. Sure wish I could talk to the previous owner to find out his thoughts on buying it. It has a secondary burn feature to burn up impurities from going up the chimney,

In preparation for the rain tomorrow, I got busy today. I changed sheets, did laundry, made tea, vacuumed after I got all the hair removed from the beater bar, dusted some, took the garbage down the street, took a walk with my aunt, fixed a big o'l salad, got my hair washed and legs shaved, and cut my toenails. Tomorrow, zilch is on the agenda. All day long!View attachment 1006484

I said something about going to hear the open mic tonight but Ken said he did not care about going. Funny how I always go along with what he wants to do. I rarely ask to go to someplace. If I had not been so tired from the day's activities, I would have gotten dressed and gone by myself. I know enough of the people there that I do not think I would feel out of place. Sheesh! Is the honeymoon over? View attachment 1006485 I'm not sure.

Happy Fri-YAY everyone!
The honeymoon is only over if you let it. I haven't seen any rules that say you have to do EVERYTHING together.

Whoa. That's not good. We haven't had that happen to us, but we've got iPhones and Verizon.

I may just be paranoid, but it sure feels like I'm being watched. Seems like I just think about looking into buying something and suddenly I'm getting ads for it online. (Not sure where the nail fungus ads are coming from because I sure haven't been thinking about that!) I get up in the morning and my watch says "Looks like you're up. " What? Who asked you???

It is 46 degrees here but the wind is whipping around again. Not a bad thing because we have had so much rain the yard is mushy.

I just ate a huge orange. It was good but made me cold so I just fixed a bowl of apple cinnamon oatmeal. That is not a bad meal. I love things that warm my tummy. I must have been hungry because I saw a Farmer's Dog food commercial and thought. . . gosh, that looks pretty tasty.

I tend to agree with you. I have used a Samsung phone for most of my cell phone life and I see the increase in bloatware and think it is just wrong.

The honeymoon is only over if you let it. I haven't seen any rules that say you have to do EVERYTHING together.
That is true but we have different definitions of doing things apart from each other. He does fun stuff and I seem to do errands/chores. That is on me too and something I should eradicate posthaste.

It is not paranoia and I agree with you 100% and it ills me. I laugh a people who say they are not tracking them because they do not join social clubs online. If you have a cell phone or an email account. . . you are being watched.

True, but there are things that can make it worse, or not quite as bad. I prefer the not as bad. :)

I received my second email regarding a class action suit for Verizon customers. At first, I just disregarded it but after getting the second email, I started googling and it looks legitimate to me.

With that many customers, the payout will not be much but I think I will send in my request to be included. I'll ponder it anyway.

We don't usually watch tv series, but we did binge watch Ted Lasso when we were staying at our daughters house. Totally loved it!!

I just got my 1st one this morning. Well, maybe one came before and I probably trashed it before reading it. Yeah, I'm thinking I should be included too. Wonder if we'll get our $2.50 at the same time. If it happens it'll probably be months from now and we'll wonder how come we're getting it. Either that or we'll just get a credit on our bill and totally miss it.

Wow! Ring the bells! Blow the horns! I'm doing the happy dance! I just bought a $300, 6' lighted Christmas tree for $48. We just had a pencil tree this year and said we needed a bit bigger one for next year, but haven't done any shopping for one. So, today I went to JoAnn Fabrics to take advantage of their 50% off yarn sale and there was an aisle of Christmas stuff for 80% off. Really? There were 3 trees there so I snagged one. Brought it home and plugged it in and all the lights work. So next year we can look forward to having a tree big enough to hang our memory ornaments on.

Last year Kate and I went nuts getting Christmas gnomes so in that same Christmas aisle they had a gnome on a sled that was cute. $30 and I got it for $4.80. Woohoo! Not bad for someone who really, really does not enjoy shopping.

The yarn was already 50% off so that was already a winner. Then when I was checking out I asked if the 20% coupon on my phone for the total order was still good and Bingo! It was. I paid a total of $81.10 and saved $291.35. Whew! I'm exhausted with all this excitement.
