Good morning. It was 11 degrees when I woke up, but it's warmed up to 13 now. Our high today is only supposed to be 23. Ugh! Gotta go pick up my car that had an oil change and some other maintenance stuff. Then I'll head out to do some grocery shopping.

Here's my latest project I just finished. It's just the right size to use on the couch for when I take an afternoon nap. Nice and warm and toasty and adds a nice pop of color.

    Morning, all.

Back to shorts and sandals, a toasty 32 and heading to uh, 35? Light rain atm, and thankfully not freezing.

They were fun when I was a kid but now they seem to have lost their sparkle for me.

Same here, just another day. We tend to "gift" each other at random times throughout the year.

The last few days have simply been brutal .. windchill down to -30o at times .. today, starting out at 15o and moving up to the 30's, it's back to sandal weather ..

When I let the dog out, I've never seen a pet do it's business so fast ..

Ugh! -30! I guess when you get -0 it's just freak'n cold no matter what the thermometer says. I'm getting tired of getting bundled up - all these clothes! The good news is this won't last forever. 2 months and 1 day til Spring!

We had to go pick up my car after an oil change etc and what I thought were wet spots on the driveway turned out to be black ice. Almost slid right past the car!

Geez - we went over 700 days without snow. Then we just got 3+ inches plus ice, and expecting snow all day tomorrow with another 3 inches. And cold - it was 11° yesterday when I woke up. When it got to 18° it actually felt like it was warming up, huh!

And the little birds at the feeders look like tennis balls with beaks, they are so puffed up trying to stay warm.

Dang, we've been over freezing (barely) for over a day now! The guess is a string of storms coming in for about a week, but mostly from the ocean, so rain down low, snow up high. Just as we like it :)

Hopefully you won't need to go out, Mike!

The dog just won't hold still for a photo .. I managed to catch her playing around with her favorite toy, Lamb Chop .. Bella weighs 7.5 LBS, so it's a small Lamb Chop

Yes, with the temps the way they have been, I do put a flannel dog shirt on her .. laugh if you like .. and, since heat pumps don't pump much heat when it's as frigid as it's been, I've got a nice heater going ..

    Good morning!
The weather here is frigid, like FranC's, and going down to 11 deg tonight. BRRR!

@ShowMeTwice asked about @Bea-FL as he mused about talking to plants in the Random thread. I traded texts with her, letting her know she's been missed and her orchid pics too! She kindly went out to the greenhouse and took these pictures for me to share. It's so nice to see a spot of color while enduring the winter temps.

Bea is still dealing with health challenges and Gary continues to take the best care of her. Please keep sending love, thoughts, and positive vibes to her.

    We had 9 this morning.

I'm glad Bea can still get out to her groundhouse and that Gary can still take care of her. The pics are beautiful.

Good morning all. It has been a busy couple of days. I did go shopping for Ken's birthday present but the only thing I could find was two pairs of boots and some ski pants for me.
    1laugh.gif

I had 5 pairs of boots in my cart but ended up putting 3 back. I could not turn down boots for $8. The ski pants were $10 marked down from $40. Hamricks is my favorite store for good deals.

Ken still had a good birthday. We went to Bonbon's and we ate those fantabulous ribs. We had the leftovers last night. We had almost half of the ribs left over. I added baked beans, homemade slaw and sweet potato fries, deviled eggs, and coconut cream pie for dessert. I asked him what his favorite pie was and I thought he would say apple or something easy. Nope. He wanted coconut cream. I have never made one of those, but it turned out splendidly. I had never made meringue either. It was easy too. I guess I should have gotten deep-dish pie crusts because I had a bunch left over. I put that in little pudding bowls and Ken stuffed Vanilla Wafers in them. I liked it that way too!

On top of all that, my brand-new heat pump stopped heating the house and we woke up to a cold house. Had to call the man who installed the unit. Again, he said he had never seen it happen but some wire broke. It was an easy fix after he found it (took him about an hour, working in the cold). He only charged me $80 which is good for a service call. He always works me in when I have a problem which I sure do appreciate.

The coffee is great this morning and it is already up to 34 degrees. At least it is not raining. It is going to get up to 46 so maybe I should try out those ski pants.

    Stay warm!

Good morning. Just before daybreak the snow starting falling. Looks so pretty. Mike brought in wood for the fireplace and covered our windshields yesterday. I've stocked up with groceries so we're all set to hunker down. Schools are closed. i'm wondering if we'll see any kids sledding down the street. Looks like a great hill for sledding. I may stay in my PJs today!!

Bella is adorable! You're smart to put on her coat with these temps! Besides, she probably doesn't like smelling like wet dog.

Thanks so much for the update and the photos. Bea was on my mind when a friend and I spent the day at Longwood Gardens, especially when we were in the orchid house. It's a huge DuPont estate (1077 botanical acres) And I believe it was Bea who gave me the recipe for suet for the birds so I was thinking of her when I topped up the feeders yesterday. Still sending her love and wishes for her improved health.
