Wow! Ring the bells! Blow the horns! I'm doing the happy dance! I just bought a $300, 6' lighted Christmas tree for $48. We just had a pencil tree this year and said we needed a bit bigger one for next year, but haven't done any shopping for one. So, today I went to JoAnn Fabrics to take advantage of their 50% off yarn sale and there was an aisle of Christmas stuff for 80% off. Really? There were 3 trees there so I snagged one. Brought it home and plugged it in and all the lights work. So next year we can look forward to having a tree big enough to hang our memory ornaments on.

Last year Kate and I went nuts getting Christmas gnomes so in that same Christmas aisle they had a gnome on a sled that was cute. $30 and I got it for $4.80. Woohoo! Not bad for someone who really, really does not enjoy shopping.

The yarn was already 50% off so that was already a winner. Then when I was checking out I asked if the 20% coupon on my phone for the total order was still good and Bingo! It was. I paid a total of $81.10 and saved $291.35. Whew! I'm exhausted with all this excitement.
WOW. You did really good, Janet.

Thanks, but I was jut in the right place at the right time. Must have been meant to get that tree because initially I walked past those 3 boxes when a couple came up browsing and commented that those 3 trees had a $300 price tag. I whipped out my phone calculator and saw that the sale price would be $60. I didn't know at the time that the 20% off my entire purchase would be valid. Now I'm thinking I should have bought the other 2 as well and sold them for $100 online!

Good morning people. 30 degrees this morning going up to 38 so that cold air has arrived and will be sticking around for awhile. Brrrr. At least the sun is shining.

I finished my crochet blanket project and have started on making a long narrow one for the foot of our bed. Hopefully this will help keep Mike's feet toasty warm. I took one of the window drapes with me to match the yarn color. We need a splash of color in there. This will be the first one that I'm designing on my own so we'll see how that goes.

    Morning, all.

I think the weather guessers have their charts upside down. Was said to be not a cold last night. Uh, yeah, 15 is warmer than 17? Of course, at that point not much difference int "feel." Another front on its way, and the claim is warmer still. Hope that doesn't mean, um, 10??

Looks like a blizzard blowing outside here at the moment. Won't last long at 38 degrees so it's not laying on the streets, but it sure looks pretty. Last night the wind was really blowing. The grill on our back deck blew sideways a few feet across the deck. Sheesh. It's not nearly as blustery now. It's going down to 20 tonight and the high tomorrow will be 30 with more snow, they're saying 1-3". We'll see what happens,

It always feels colder when the wind is blowing so I think it's a good day to make a pot of beef stew.

I like having someone fix me supper for a change. Ken fixed a goulash. Lots of hamburger, onions, peppers, tomatoes, and macaroni noodles. It was good and very filling on a cold night.

He cleans the kitchen as he goes along instead of waiting until we finish eating. That is how I do it (the right way).

Ken wanted to see Miami lose (he was pulling for them) so we went to a bar to watch it. They had karaoke so at least I was not bored. Probably would be more fun going if I drank but that just is not me. Several singers were okay. Nothing impressive but I think it is wonderful when people can sing in front of others. I can't. Unless they join me in the shower.

Cool but sunny here. I'll take that over rain any day. I think it is going to be a lazy day and that is exactly what I want.

Wrote this this morning - sure would help if I posted it!

Good morning. 22 here going up to 29. Supposed to get 1-3" of snow tonight. Hmmm, yeah, that's what they said for the other day and it didn't happen. Well, it did snow, but also rained just enough that the snow went away pretty quick. I think we're going to need to get some more use out of this fireplace today because the weather guessers have at least been right about the temps.

Yep, made the beef stew for dinner yesterday and it turned out delicious. Never tried adding some red wine to deglaze the pot after browning the veggies, some tomato paste and beef. Wow. very tasty. Looking forward to leftovers today!

We finally got around to hanging some paintings/pictures yesterday. Sure makes a difference and makes it feel more like home.

Ken wanted to watch the Steelers game at this bar and I told him to go on by himself. I am not into football and those barstools are not the most comfy chair to sit in.

I went to Sam's instead and had a lovely time walking around and looking at everything. I had to order my new contacts. They changed but my glasses stayed the same so I don't have to buy more. That's weird but I'm not going to complain.
Made a good supper which Ken was late for. He called and said his motorcycle would not start so I had to take him some jumper cables. I am a really good "girlfriend". That sounds so weird to me but I am not sure what to call us. I'll figure it out eventually.

Hope everyone stays warm and has a wonderful day.

Good morning. Yay! We have snow! The weather guesser was right. Looks like a good 3" of snow now with "snow showers" expected today. It looks so pretty outside! The temps will be staying below freezing so doesn't look like much melting is going to happen. We live on the side of a mountain so I'm sure we'd be able to get out later, but getting back home could be interesting... It's a steep climb with a big curve to get here.

These days I can't sit for long without support for my low back so barstools would be out for me. Still, it might be fun to watch the game with everyone getting all excited about the game.

I think these days people refer to their "partner" instead of boyfriend or girlfriend?

    Morning, all.

Uh, heat wave. Only 19 overnight, heading to 35. Before the next storm, tonight. Which, they claim, will start as snow, shift to freezing rain and then just rain. Hope the transition is quick!! Ice storms are not fun!!

It is supposed to be 15 degrees in the morning so that is cold for around here. Good snuggle-up weather.

Had a lazy day which was fine with me. Ate all the leftovers in the fridge which was fine too. I hate to waste anything.

Today is Ken's birthday. Big 59. I have not gotten him anything so I think I will fix him an omelet in the morning. He loves them. I may venture out and birthday shop but to be honest, it is not that big of a deal. We did not exchange Christmas gifts and I sort of feel the same way about birthdays. They were fun when I was a kid but now they seem to have lost their sparkle for me.

    Hope everyone stays warm.

Good morning. It was 11 degrees when I woke up, but it's warmed up to 13 now. Our high today is only supposed to be 23. Ugh! Gotta go pick up my car that had an oil change and some other maintenance stuff. Then I'll head out to do some grocery shopping.

Here's my latest project I just finished. It's just the right size to use on the couch for when I take an afternoon nap. Nice and warm and toasty and adds a nice pop of color.
