@DavidOck Yep, the hummers are on their big migration.

It's kind of sad to see so much activity at the feeders and then Poof! They're gone!

Fall is definitely coming, The leaves on the trees are changing in earnest now and it only takes the slightest breeze for them to let loose and cover the ground. The night temps are slowly dropping so by this time next week I should bring in the outside potted plants. It'll look like a greenhouse in here - and that's a good thing!

Do you have Hobby Lobby craft stores around you? It's become my favorite store with much more than just craft supplies.. Yesterday, after wandering around for 2 hours I still hadn't seen everything and my cart was full. Oh happy day!

Morning, all.

Yes, almost time to start carving the pumpkins. And snag the Costco bag of "fun size" chocolates :)

Periodically, I will have a Lunchables as a lunch or as a midafternoon snack .. they are self-contained, portable, readily available and cheap .. usually, it's the turkey and American cheese pack ..

What never ceases to amaze me is the fact that the number of crackers, micro cheese slices and turkey, are all perfectly counted so that you have exactly the number of each that you need with which to assemble each cracker bite .. and, the desert is a nice bonus ..

Huh! Off to buy new tires for the Honda Pilot.
Bless your heart. That is not something you look forward to. I bought my last tires at Samclub and they were high but I think reasonable. I like that they will plug it for free if you have a leak. And yes, your Honda will be happier than you.

I think our hummingbirds have left.
I never got to feed mine this year because of that darn squirrel that keep knocking mine down. Hung upside down and licked it. Then he would sit on top of my feeder and smirk at me.

They say that they can stay all year round in NC but you need to make stronger sugar water. I am not sure if that is true but it was interesting. Our winters have become very mild. I think I remember having a dusting a couple of years ago.

Perry wants to go away for Christmas. I think it would be nice to find a snowy cabin that has a hot tub with a view. I bet I would stay in the tub more than the bed.

My Divorce-a-versary is coming up on the 26th. This year the present I am getting is a dehydrator. I give myself a special gift every year to celebrate. I know I can go to Perry's and use his but I would probably use it more if it was here. I have been looking at things you can do in it. Perry made the mistake of bringing over some dried apples and he thought he would get some of them when he came back. He was wrong.

Morning, all.

Well, we did brush 80 yesterday, but late so not for long. Rain said to be coming in soon. Uh huh, and your check is in the mail... but they do say we're headed into fall-ish weather, so scattered showers should be coming.

Yep, vaping's come a long way since then, and now seems stuck in disposable pod-land...

"Retro" on some things might be ok, but no desire to go back to cartos!

Actually it doesn’t use carto's. It uses ~2ml Pods that cost a bit under 6 pounds sterling. Sheesh - almost $4usd per ml.

Indeed it will. I just decoded the new tire's specs compared to the OEM tires.

245/60R18 105H M&S <— OEM tires, Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport AS
245/60R18 109V <— new tires, Michelin CrossClimate 2

105 = load capacity 2039 lbs per tire
109 = load capacity 2271 lbs per tire

H = 130 mph top sustainable cruising speed
V = 149 mph top sustainable cruising speed

Yeah, right! Like I'm ever going to cruise at 100+mph.

I have been using a pod now for about 6 months .. mainly just to get that extra jolt of nic periodically .. I use my Aegis w/Zlide and 8mg nic probably 75% of the time, but that pod lasts a month and packs a real hit when you want it, you can feel it .. it's also pretty tasty, Peach Ice .. the vape shop I go to sells them to me for $15.00 out the door, 2 for $25 ..

Still learning about my new truck .. it's amazing the tech they pack into these things .. and, an 8 speed automatic in a truck that does 0-60 in under 6 seconds is a real trip .. I mean, we're talking probably 3 tons of machine with that kind of get up and go .. with the option to switch to manual shift ..

It's a fun ride and drive .. smooth as silk

According to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology birds migrate to find food and the main food for hummingbirds is bugs. If there's enough for them and it's not too cold they'll hang around. The nectar is for energy - which they need a lot of! I've read that you shouldn't make the nectar sweeter, just stick to 4 to 1 of water to sugar. They'll drink it as often as they need to as long as it's changed every few days (or mold grows in it and can make them sick).

I've also read that hummingbirds go into a stupor at night because they have to eat and replenish their energy every 15-30 minutes so the stupor helps with that. Ain't nature fascinating?

So glad you're enjoying your new truck. Kind of exciting isn't it? Sometimes we've discovered things in our vehicles a year after we bought it. But that's because we're too lazy to read the manual.

I recently traded for a Kia Niro hybrid and it came with 5 manuals that were so heavy I could barely lift them. I have given up on figuring stuff out since I don't drive very often, mainly my dd uses it since she puts so many miles on a car daily and the Niro gets about 50mpg. My Malibu only got around 32 but was a much smoother ride.
