Still learning about my new truck .. it's amazing the tech they pack into these things .. and, an 8 speed automatic in a truck that does 0-60 in under 6 seconds is a real trip .. I mean, we're talking probably 3 tons of machine with that kind of get up and go .. with the option to switch to manual shift ..

It's a fun ride and drive .. smooth as silk
I'm sure it must have some kind of 'auto-pilot' capability. Have you tried that yet. Highway speed around curves with big rig trucks in the lane next to you and you'd better have faith in the computer steering your vehicle. Can be a bit disconcerting when you first try it out and/or use it.

I've messed with it off and on since getting the Pilot in 2019. Probably can count the times I've actually used it for an extended trip on 1 hand. I dropped my interest in using it when I remembered:

1.) its controlled by a computer programmed by a human
2.) human's make mistakes
3.) I worked with computers starting in 1968 for the next 45 years
4.) I was around a lot of computers
5.) I never knew a computer not to make a mistake.

I stopped using auto-pilot.

'Hands Free Driver Assist' .. On Approved Roadways ..

Never used it, never will .. 'You'll have to pry my cold, dead hands off the steering wheel'

Mine comes with no such warning. A place where it really can loose it; you're driving a high speed limited access hyway, you're in the right lane; then you drive by a long exit or entrance ramp and there's no white line on you right side for a 'decent' distance. oops! No white lines to stay between so it gets squirrelly for a bit until you pick up that white line on your right side again.

You'll have to pry my cold, dead hands off the steering wheel'
Mine needs at least a light touch of one hand on the steering wheel or a big warning starts flashing on the dashboard; "Steering Required". To which I reply - I thought you were driving.

Oh my word! Look what's 'new' on the market.
Oh my. I started out on one and loved it but it did not take long to upgrade. That little thing would not last me while I was on the potty.

Sometimes we've discovered things in our vehicles a year after we bought it.

My ex and me bought the Honda CRV I am currently driving in 2011. I just found out a couple of years ago that it had a tilt steering wheel.

I can't wait til my divorce-a-versary present gets here. I tried out Perry's dehydrator on some apples that his friend gave him. I loved them. I am probably going to be the only one who ever gained weight eating dried fruit.

You can tell it's fall. I've had my crockpot out twice this week. Once for some chicken veggie soup that I made with the bone broth I made last weekend and then today, I fixed beef stew. I will take Perry and my aunt a container of it tomorrow if I get out. This rain makes me quite uncomfortable.

I think I told y'all months ago that I had lost my tooter on my lawn mower. I walked all over this yard and never found it. Today, I was going to the mailbox and it was lying at the end of my driveway. The glass was broken and it was all scratched up. The only thing I can think of is that when Perry mowed last weekend, it fell off the Exmark when he was turning around on the driveway. I dried it off and put a battery in it and it still works. Yay! I have a replacement glass for the topper. I think it is wonderful because now I have one that I can work outside and not worry about messing it up.

Happy Friday to all.

Morning, all.

Fall-ish weather continues here, although today's scattered showers appear to be scattered elsewhere.

I recently traded for a Kia Niro hybrid and it came with 5 manuals that were so heavy I could barely lift them. I have given up on figuring stuff out since I don't drive very often, mainly my dd uses it since she puts so many miles on a car daily and the Niro gets about 50mpg. My Malibu only got around 32 but was a much smoother ride.

Another Niro! Got mine almost two years back, after a tree decided to ravage my Scion xD during a wind storm. (Parked at home...) Best advice I can give on it (and any of the new gizmo happy rigs!) is to skim the manual(s) to find what you NEED to know right off, get comfortable with those features, and add more as you like. Most "around town" trips I get close to 60, and "lifetime" average, including two high speed round trips to Phoenix, is reported as 53.6.

Seems like everything turns up, but you never know where or when.

And it's usually found right after you've bought a replacement.

Yesterday I saw 2 hummingbirds at the feeders and today I saw one so far - all females. I'm not sure if these are ones that are just passing through or not, but I'm glad I cleaned the feeders yesterday. They should stay up for another couple weeks just in case.

Since the boys are going to be here tomorrow we moved the potato grow bag into the garage so it doesn't get any wetter and heavier. Tomorrow we can dump it out on a tarp and see what kind of potatoes have been growing in there. It probably won't be much because they got planted in the heat of summer when they're not supposed to grow very well. I had a couple sprouting potatoes in the cabinet and figured it wouldn't hurt to plant them just to see what would happen and finally we're going to find out,

Yesterday and today it's been raining off and on, but Helene hasn't even made it up this far yet. The next 6 days are supposed to be rainy so that might include Helene. Thank heavens we're not going to get the kind of rain they're getting in the SE states. Geez, looks awful in some places.

Still nice and cool here, scattered showers for the PNW, but the maps show most of that north of us.

Yes, pretty grim.

FYI .. you don't buy a full size truck for the gas milage ..

I've been a semi-gear head since High School ..

Nope. Even my small truck wasn't for mileage, but for haulage. But not used for my jaunts south, where my 50+ mpg Niro excels :)

Waiting on Perry to get home from work. And he says he is retired. I don't think so. He is going to come home to a house that smells fruity. I could not wait on my dehydrator so I have Perry's full of strawberries, bananas, and more apples. I hope they turn out.

The rain finally stopped today and the sun was amazing. The solar-powered Cardinals are going to be bright tonight. I bought those for Perry. Before his mom passed, she told him to think of her when he saw one and I have heard him say, "Hello Mom" when he does see one. My mom also loved Cardinals. I painted her a sweatshirt with Cardinals sitting on a dogwood branch. Those were her favorite trees. Funny how other people's things make you think about your own.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

I am sure y'all are all wondering how my first fruit dehydration turned out.

Well, I'll tell you anyway. I liked everything. The apples are still my fav but the strawberries were really sweet and tasty. I put them on our salads tonight. I had leftover beef stew and Perry ate it for the first time. I swear it gets better every time I reheat it. Perry was impressed. I hope he understands my meals taste different every time I make them because I do not measure or use the same ingredients each time.

Well, I am glad I enjoyed the sun today because they are calling for rain again tomorrow. Sheesh! I am so tired of feeling this way. I wish I could send this rain to the people that need it.

Hope everyone sleeps well and has a nice, relaxing Sunday.

Navigate to the "driver assistance" screen and select "warning sound and Haptic". You can adjust the volume from there.
Must be on certain models, I don't think I have that but I will check again, thanks. Mine is a '22 ex premium.
