Hello people!

Well, I was able to keep my phone while they ordered a new screen. Now it's beautiful again! We went back to the store after a few days and within an hour it was as good is new. While we waited we got to experience their new product, the Apple Vision. WOW! No need to go on vacation, just put this thing on your head and you're right on the sports field, or in a whole different country, or inside a movie! WOW! Forget the iPads for the kids, we'd never get them to take off one of these things! I didn't want to give it back except they cost over $3k. Still, I guess it's cheaper than airfare and hotels and meals...

Today I went for my routine colonoscopy. Ugh! The procedure is no problem. You get a nice little nap and wake up refreshed. But the prep! The last time I ate was 6 p.m. on Tuesday. Wednesday they called to tell me to arrive at 11:45 this morning, Thursday. I could have at least had breakfast yesterday! So today I didn't get taken back until 1:45 and then it was hurry up, rush, rush. By 3:00 it was all over and we were headed home. At least I don't have to think about it for another 5 years. When we starting getting them the cut off age was 70. Then they kept raising the age so now instead of this being my last one I gotta get another one when I'm 80!! Surely they'll have a better prep by then (I keep saying that)

Our neighbor wanted some trees taken down between our yards and we decided to add 3 of ours as well so the crew showed up yesterday and got to work with a huge crane! These trees were 90-110 feet tall. And Wow, these guys hustled! The guy in the harness swung around the tree tops like Spiderman! They cleaned up except for the huge logs and today they came for the logs and cleaned up the debris from the stump grinding. It looks fantastic! My raised garden is going to love it too because now it'll get more sun. And the guy charged us a fraction of what our daughter paid 5-6 years ago to have 1 tree removed and she had 3 quotes. No inflation to see here!

I've been saying that for 30+ years. I was an every year for awhile, then 2 years. Finally begged for 5 years. The next one will be my last, unless they change recommended age.

There must be a reason, you all don't just do the mail in test instead of the full blown colonoscopy. Is it not reliable enough or do you need the more extensive one due to higher risk?

I've had the mail in test done for a few years, once a year .. previously, actual colonoscopies were 'uneventful', so my DR went with mail in .. also, no family history

Hello everybody.

Our high today was in the med-high 30s. Brrrr! it snowed most of the day, but it was mixed with rain so no accumulation which is fine with me. Too early to shovel!

I've been saying that for 30+ years. I was an every year for awhile, then 2 years. Finally begged for 5 years. The next one will be my last, unless they change recommended age.
Definitely seems to be my experience too. And depending on the doc you could have a different prep no matter what year you have to go for it.

My sister had colon cancer so there's family history. And I've heard there's a lot of false positives and also negatives. Sheesh! My family doc said if I've had polyps removed in the past then the home test would be unreliable. The doc who did my test yesterday said she removed 2 small polyps, but I could do the Cologuard in 3 years and then have the colonoscopy if there was a positive result. Ummm, what to do. What to do.

Lucky you! I've only had a couple tiny polyps each time, but my sister had colon cancer 40 years ago so that family history dictated a test every 5 years instead of the recommended 10. Poor me! Still, there's worse tests to have to experience and catching something ugly early is worth it.

Perry still working hard and I got his leaves up again for him. And he wonders why I want to live in the woods where there is no yard work.

I am excited about going to Charlottesville VA today. It is only 3 hours away but that counts as a trip for me. We are going to hear JGB (Jerry Garcia Band). Melvin Seals is an organist who is going to be with them and he is phenomenal. We will spend the night somewhere but we have to leave early tomorrow because his boss has something he needs Monday. Perry told him we were going out of town and I think his boss should have said he could get it Tuesday. Guess I am #2 in Perry's priority list but that's okay. Second place is higher than I have ever been before.

I am planning on scheduling my colonoscopy next week. I have been procrastinating. I was told the same thing about the mail-in test. I have to have them every 4 years because my mother had colon cancer. I am way past due.

The no eating for so long is the only part that I hate. I am not as nice when I am hungry.

I have my eye appointment and mammogram already scheduled. I also have my knee appt. on the 11th of Dec. for the MRI on my knee. It is so much better but I still am wearing the brace and I can tell it still has something wrong with it. Maybe they are wrong about the meniscus tear and they will tell me to keep wearing the brace because it will heal. It could happen. Fingers crossed.

Seems like 'tis the season. My DH has his colonoscopy on Dec 11th. We're sort of making Thanksgiving dinner his BD dinner instead. It's the last hurrah before he goes low fiber and then starts the liquids only portion on his BD. I have to be nice to him because mine is due next year.

Lucky me has my mammogram on Christmas Eve, last year it was on Halloween! Happy Holidays?? Also have appointments with eye doc, dentist, and neurologist. Fun times, not!

@Rat2chat2 Hope you had a great trip to Charlottesville today. I'll be thinking of you on the 11th too, sending positive vibes for no meniscus tear.

At last! One last pass with some 400# sandpaper and the radiator covers are finally ready to apply a finish. The project was put on hold because of the two cataract surgeries. I 'lost' about 2 weeks of time to work on them. After each procedure I was restricted for 7-10 days from lifting anything heavier than 10 pounds, not bending over and lowering my head below my waste, and (yep this was explicit) no working with power tools. So just as I was cleared to begin working again after the 1st surgery, I had the 2nd surgery.

My son and DIL are quite pleased with them. My next deadline is to have them ready before the 1st day of winter. Well that should give me plenty of time. Winter officially starts Dec. 21st.

Nice work, Mike .. :thumb:

I can't remember if I mentioned that some clown backed into my new truck at the Lowes .. dented the bumper on one side and pushed it in enough to put a nice wrinkle in the rear passenger side wheel well panel .. did not leave any note or info .. happened while I was in the Lowes ..

$3900 worth of damage .. can't decide if I just want to pay for it and make sure the body shop does not report it to CARFAX or what ..

A quote from ZDNET (a leading tech platform) regarding X (formerly Twitter, which I have never used) .. #1 loser of the year

Losers

1. X (formerly Twitter): A masterclass in self-destruction

Elon Musk spent 2024 doubling down on the chaos that turned X into a punchline. Advertisers fled after baffling policy shifts, verified checkmarks became meaningless, and users abandoned ship for Bluesky and Mastodon in droves. Engagement plummeted, and what was once a cultural institution became a meme of its former self. Musk might still call it "the town square," but in 2024, X was more like the local landfill.

That SUCKS!

If you have insurance, I'd turn it in as a claim. Might as well get some of your insurance premium money back. A carfax report will be meaningless by the time you decide to replace that truck. And there's always the possibility the truck outlasts you  so then who cares about a carfax report.

Regardless of your decision, I hope you can get the bumper replaced. Some insurance companies don't like doing that, and push to have it repaired not replaced.

If I have insurance .. ?? C'mon ..

Yeah, I'm leaning toward a claim based on pretty much exactly what you said .. my Agent says my policy would go up by $8.00 monthly ..

Chrome bumper, has to be replaced .. wrinkle on bed side wheel well has to be fixed .. I could probably replace the bumper myself, though, and save a few shekels .. my agent will write the check to me, so I can cheat a little ..

Don't tell anybody

Sage Advice from Jimmy Buffet, RIP

1. “Take naps like they’re happy hour.” Don’t let anyone shame you for nodding off. Naps are nature’s way of giving you a little slice of paradise.
2. “Remember: sand in your shoes is better than snow in your driveway.” If retirement hasn’t taught you to be a snowbird yet, well, what’re you waitin’ for?
3. “When in doubt, flip-flop it out.” Ditch the fancy shoes. Life’s too short for anything that’s not comfortable.
4. “Drink your margaritas frozen and your coffee lukewarm.” Hot coffee’s for people with somewhere to be, sip yours slow and take it easy.
5. “You’re only as old as the friends you call to bail you out.” Keep a few rowdy buddies around. Who says mischief has an age limit?
6. “Forget the beach body. Just make sure your hat has a good brim.” Cover up, sunscreen up, and enjoy the beach—life’s better with a good tan and no sunburn.
7. “Don’t worry about remembering anyone’s name. Just call everybody ‘buddy’ or ‘darlin’.” Works like a charm and keeps the peace.
8. “Splurge on the good guacamole, your kids can fight over the will.” Why save all the fun for later? Enjoy it now. Life’s short, guac is extra, so live a little.
9. “If you can’t change it, paint it a wild color.” Bored with the porch? Paint it turquoise. Who says a little color can’t fix the soul?
10. “Dancing’s for everyone. Just give ‘em a warning if you’re goin’ to do the twist.” Loosen up the hips and keep a sense of humor, you’re never too old for a little boogie.
11. “Trade secrets for good stories.” At this age, there’s no need to keep all those secrets. Tell those tales, embellish a little, make ‘em laugh.
12. “Smile lines are just proof you’ve lived right.” Wear those wrinkles with pride, they’re a souvenir from the ride.
13. “Always carry two things: reading glasses and a sense of humor.” Life’s clearer with both.
14. “Go barefoot whenever you can.” Life’s more fun with sand between your toes and grass under your feet.
15. “Tell your kids you’re off to chase the sunset.” They may think you’re joking, but there’s magic in those last golden rays. Chase ‘em, catch ‘em, soak it all in.

Let the adventures continue, keep the laughter loud, and remember Parrotheads, paradise is wherever you decide to sit down with a smile.

Good morning all.

It was a crazy trip. Before we even got started, while filling up with gas, I spilt his huge cup of Sprite not once, but twice. He said he knew the way to Charlottesville Va but when I turned on my GPS, it gave us a different direction. It ended up making the trip an hour longer. I did not think we would ever get there and Perry hates my GPS.

Had an expensive meal before the show. Perry wanted to taste this certain bourbon and it was $50 for what he calls a pour. Very small amount. He was paying so I did not care but there is no way I could have enjoyed something that cost that much.

Then we start to leave and a couple that we were talking to in the restaurant, told us our car tire look way low. It was. Went to the closest gas station and who knew that all gas stations did not offer air? Had to slowly go find another one. I remember when air was a quarter. Now it takes 8 of those. Sheesh! It may be a slow leak or just because of the weather change. I am not sure but it is staying inflated. I doubt I will drive it until he takes it somewhere to make sure. I could change a tire on the side of the street but I don't necessarily want to.

The concert was wonderful but on top of everything else, I had a sore throat. We got a room in a brand new hotel that was gorgeous. I did not even feel like taking a shower in the huge bathroom. That is sad. Now it is just a aggravating head cold. I am all stopped up. I can't complain because I cannot remember the last time I had a cold. I have tried to stay away from Perry but chances are he may get it. This too shall pass.

I cannot believe Thanksgiving is here already. Seems I saw the July 4th firework not that long ago. Time surely does fly. Hope everyone has a wonderful turkey day.
