places seem to all expect you to deal with one of their myriad so-called apps .. which I find to be a pain in the neck, time consuming and sometimes just plain confusing .. and, to boot, they seem to want you to actually pay for your food in advance in these apps ..

No chit. First, I don't do any "banking" or credit on my phone. Second, I really don't need McD selling off what I eat for their profit. And certainly don't need them to send me "reminders" that I've not eaten fries in a month...

Heck, I don't even use "self" checkout, I prefer to do a little bit to help keep humans on the job!

I was surprised, National Buritto Day was not on my Google calendar. Yes, I even have most made-up holidays on my calendar. Go figure. It is the first Thursday of April every year for those who love burritos or are curious like me.

While looking at my calendar, I noticed it has been 3 years today since I broke my pinkie toe on the computer chair that I did not leave out. I spent the whole summer mowing with one shoe off. I was careful because dad said I was going to cut my toes off and I had to prove him wrong. unnamed.gif

OMgosh, I am already envisioning how I could make a tooter holder for when I am mowing, blowing, and edging. Did he come up with that or did someone make a fortune off a good idea? View attachment 972131

I don't know if someone is making a fortune from 'it'. But someone designed and made it for him using 3D Printing.

Oh no, hope this little guy flys away. Janet saw him crash into the slider doors on the porch and fall to the deck. She held him for awhile then put him down in the sun. Hoping when I go back to look the little guy has recovered enough from the crash to have flown away.

Good morning! Already saved a life so it's already a good day! That poor little wren landed on his back in the only little puddle on the deck. I picked him up and he was breathing so slow, but after he warmed up a bit in my hands he finally perked up. Then he didn't want to leave! I finally put him down on a carpet mat in the sun and after looking around for awhile he took off. Yay little bird!

I concur with you Willie! (that should make you feel real good) View attachment 972350

I went to McDonald's after dad's mishap to get him a quick lunch. There is now a kiosk where you can place an order on right in front of the counter that you can order. Do you think I chose the kiosk? View attachment 972349

During the lockdown our local Dunk'n Donuts started taking orders only if they were called in or you used their app. Now they're still doing it. It's a big place. Only 1 person working inside. Don't know if they can't get help or if they found it was cheaper to do it this way. I don't like it.

Our local, very large grocery store has an app so you can scan each item you want and then put it right in your reusable shopping bag. Then just scan the QR code on the self-serve register and off you go. I actually like that because I can bypass those long lines in the checkout and there's 30 checkout lines.

Morning, misfits.

Nice that the wren recovered after the concussion protocol!

More rain overnight, so good I got the grass shorter yesterday. We actually hit 73 here at the house, but 60 today is wishful thinking.

Don't know if they can't get help or if they found it was cheaper to do it this way. I don't like it.

Probably cheaper. If that's the only way they do business, they'd not get mine.

I am still trying to convince my dad that he needs one of those. They are so neat. There is a website called Thingiverse where you can get plans to make anything you can imagine. I did not realize you can buy a 3D printer for just a couple hundred dollars. The whole concept sounds so StarTrekie to me but he let me watch it making my battery holder and I was amazed. It took a long time but it was really cheap to make.

I hate to think this but I honestly think some merchants took advantage of the pandemic. When you get right down to it, greed is the culprit to most of the issues that get me going. ireful1.gif

I have gotten so I like the self-checkouts because I can pack those bags the way I like them the proper way. I do, however, feel the company should give me a small discount for doing it. Considering the amount of shoplifting that these self-checkout enables, I think it would be cheaper just to pay a cashier and offer good customer service like in the old days. Omgosh, I'm an o'l fart. unnamed.gif (but loveable, imo)

The apparent continual mutation of the COVID I suppose should not come as a surprise .. now, we have BA.2 .. I don't know if it there was ever a BA.1, but it's beginning to sound like a Windows update .. o_O

The thing is, at this point, after two main jabs and a booster, I'm really on the fence as to whether I should get a second booster .. I mean, it just starts to feel like these Pfizer vaccines are not near as effective as initially touted, yet still fairly effective .. and, it seems like the J&J vaccine was the least of all .. I have the Pfizer ..

A 4th shot, for me, would be 4 shots in about a years time .. I really hope that's not the trend .. They rushed the vaccines out very quickly, and, I'm no biologist, but I'd guess they have to tweak each new vaccine to fit the new variant .. just like a flu shot ..

I just don't know if I will get another booster .. o_O

Yes, still good to prevent severe infection, and yes, the data on longevity of the boosters is iffy, at best. We're going to wait a bit on the second booster (also Pfizer), since we're thankfully not in the "underlying conditions" group, just, well, older ;) And we're pretty isolated, only necessary shopping, and still mask up when out and about.

I do see it becoming like annual flu shots, though. (We got our booster and flu shots in the same visit. Now if they could just blend the two, so both arms don't get poked!! :p
