These are pictures of the gray tabby kitten I'm working with.

This is a somewhat large carryall. You can see the food and water bowls clamped to the door in front, some litter in there, and the kitten in back - it's always in the back. It looks to be a short-hair. It's very healthy looking, like it's been eating pretty well, but the tail is quite thin, so I say short-hair.

I'm working on modifying the trap as a cage for it because I cannot change the litter with the carryall like it is now, and I only want to have to move him/her one more time. It tore up the bottom of the trap, so I'm repairing that and making it more versatile now. I moved it to the carryall, thinking I wouldn't need to have him/her in there for more than a day. That hasn't worked out. I had to add litter, but can't clean it now.

I'm rigging the trap with the food and water in the front by the door, the litter in a rectangular plastic container behind that, and the area in the back will be where the cat stays, like it does now. If I have something small enough, I'll put a cushion in there, too. It'll have to walk across the litter to eat or drink, but that's my best arrangement option. I'll lift the litter bowl over the food to clean the litter. The Trap has somewhat large squares in the metal cage mesh, so I'll insert some PVC Pipes to make a block to keep the cat from getting out while I'm working in there. I can't do that in the carryall.

I'm having to do this because the spay/neuter isn't until Monday, but I need to be able to change the litter now, as it's been since the weekend. Again, I didn't know I'd be holding it this long and I'm new to this. Plus, it may be a while before I can take the kitten to the agency where they'll find a home for it, as they only take three at a time and they are full now. So I might have the baby for a little while. It's all going to be worth it to keep from having to take it to the Kill Shelter.

If you like, I'll post pictures of the trap when I'm finished.

Dale - I'll bet Xmas is exciting in your family!!!!!

VG, nice cat. It's so nice you are doing this! I would like to see the trap, just out of curiosity, when you are done.
Oh - you could always fold up an old towel (if you have one) or something else washable that's not too important for a cushion? I see you have carpet in there or something; probably a luxury compared to what the cat is used to.

A towel is what caused the problems with Sun's Triton and Astrid. They played with it, fought with it, unraveled it, and got caught in it, so I'm very reluctant to do that. There's no carpet in the either, but that can unravel, too, so it will be a small cushion or something covered with a bed pillow sheet, a t-shirt, or something like that. The cushioning could be a towel, but it would have to be covered.

I'll take pictures when I'm done. I might use a towel, cover it with a t-shirt, and use duct tape to seal it closed. This cat probably has very sharp claws, so I need it to be as safe as possible.

EDIT:
I think what you are seeing is the litter.

How's everybody doing?

Got home from work at 4, neighbor came and, and we chatted, her DH came out and told me I had a bad tire. Looked at the tire, and it looks like the wall is splitting on it. I got back in my car and took it up to the tire place to have it replaced with my warranty. The problem is that they had my name in the computer but had no servicing history - just my name and address. Now I have to go through all my paperwork to try to find the receipt for the warranty.:( That will teach me to keep my receipts more organized.

Cool fall weather is here in SoCal - a cold evening of 65 deg. Thank goodness (sometimes) for hot flashes.
