Just having my morning GOURMET coffee with you. I am liking what Dale has brought.

Back reading, I see VG had a serious head injury years ago. That could explain some things.

We had our first freeze last night so I lost all my annuals. No beach here, but autumn in Illinois is still beautiful.

Well since we did have our first frost, I guess I should get out and gather up all the green tomatoes.
Trouble is it's raining!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Morning, Tigger.....no rain here yet....and it might be ice/snow when it hits.

Picked my green tomatoes and pulled the plants last Sunday.....now I have about 80 green tomatoes wrapped in newpaper. I have no idea what I am going to do with all of them. I am hoping some make it to Thanksgiving...but probably won't.

I should have gotten out there to get them yesterday. Sunday I did get the ones that were already turning.

I wrap them in newspaper too. I'll give some to son otherwise they will go to waste.

Too bad, cause in January, us tomato lovers would maim, bash, beat, and throttle for a fresh garden tomato. And I am at the top of the list when it comes to loving fresh, healthy, garden tomatoes. Especially with fresh, healthy, bacon.

I might just have them for supper tomorrow.

Not tonight. I'm going to pick out my frames for my glasses and will pick something up and bring it home.

It's raining there, jj? I wonder if it's coming my way.

VG, when I was probably about 8-10 I fell from the top of a swing set directly onto the top of my (still forming) head. I still remember the crazy pain. I'm sure I had a concussion but I don't think I ever told anyone about it as I wouldn't have known any better. I had really strong headaches as a child, too, and still get them as an adult.

Yet, I have always had extremely intense dreams that I remember clearly; colors, smells etc. Sometimes I will suddenly recall one later in the day or a day or two after.

And yes, this could explain a lot. I have always wondered what results/damage a scan of my brain would show...

I am having my exercise ladies over for potluck Thurs. night. I am making soup, and they are all bringing some fall food. So far, we have taffy apple salad, apple pie, and pumpkin dip. I am making bacon corn chowder. Does this explain why I cannot lose weight? There is a reason why we met and became friends at an exercise place.

Yes it's raining. Not hard. Just enough that if you spend enough time out there I get really wet.

I don't need a shower that way!!

Hey Glam, I'm remembering what my mom used to do with the tomatoes. She wrapped them in newspaper too. I believe they have to have even just a little bit of ripening. That way you can pull them out later and they will ripen the rest of the way. Is that correct?

She wrapped them in the newspaper and stored them in boxes in the basement where it was always cooler.

Well that explains things with you too. Maybe we all have brain damage....maybe that is why we mesh so well. Might Pothole not be the only one who needs to be tested?

Yep....mine are in the basement. And some ripen and some just rot...depends on which stage of development they were in. Just starting to turn tomatoes are the ones that do best. Your mom was right.

Yes, I remember a couple tomatoes always being bad but it's worth it for the good ones!

Oh, how I miss my SIL's "heirloom" tomatoes in a BLT! I brought back a bunch from Ohio and ate tomatoes for a week, every way imaginable.

Glam, your fall feast sounds delicious!

Gotta run - garage door guy. Good news: only needs to have things on the opener tightened up. They could have sold me a whole new opener and I wouldn't have a clue.
