See what I mean, I shoulda stayed with a Mac. It was so easy. When I would run out of space when I did graphic design, I would just go down to Staples and by more memory. They were cute little tiny plastic pieces with teeth on them, and I just popped off the side of my CPU and stuck the little teeth in an open slot. IDK how to do that with PCs.

One time I ran out of empty slots, so I bought a peripheral HD called a Bernoulli. But, that was years ago.

I hate to break it to you Sea...the Mac is designed the same way as a PC, CPU + memory + storage. They made it easier because third party makers couldn't make their parts, so less variety and confusion. But you did still have different memory and storage. :)

I have a few of those myself.

Here's my CPU
Best Buy - Asus Essentio Desktop / AMD Phenom
Nice Sea! I'd like to get a new computer one of these days. BTW, it's a terminology thing again. you're not alone in calling your computer a CPU. Here's what I think of when I think CPU.

But, at least you don't call your computer a MODEM, like some of the dummies I work with, LOL.

Why are you afraid of it?

IDK why, I guess b/c IDK my computer tech like I used to. All I do now is brush the ventilation holes with a special soft brush so my puter can breathe properly. I take the side off very carefully and blow it out with my hair dryer, and that's about it.

I think I saw that advertized on TV. I didn't pay much attention, as I have no need. But, glad you've got something that works for you!

You don't need 2B a business person to use it. You can use it for any purpose like if somebody owes you money & you see them on the street, you can collect money from them on the fly. Girl Scouts can use it to sell their cookies. Even the sales of questionable products in the back alleys can be sold that way - no credit card merchant, no contract. I use it for my son-in-laws car payments to me. No monthly fee, no minimum. you can even use it just once a year, no prob.

That's about all you need to do, and you likely do it more frequently than I do. :p

I'm sure you know about defragging. I don't do that often enough either. But, the need varies by use.

I do know about defragging. I don't download a lot on my computer, so I won't need it for a while. When I did graphics long ago and downloaded stuff like Kai's Power Tools and Fractal Paint, etc. to try them out, then I would have to defrag a lot more.

OH, I recommend a UPS for any computer. One with line conditioning. Power spikes & brownouts are hell on a computer.

???? huh ????? Not sure what that is ......... Are you talking about a surge protecter? I have a good one I paid $57 for about 10 yrs ago. maybe I should see if it's still good enuff though.

No, UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply), aka battery backup. With line conditioning to protect from spikes.

A surge protector is next best though. :)

10 years old? Hmmmm.
