Do you use a well seasoned iron skillet?? The gal I work with and I were discussing that nothing tastes as good as our grandmother's did. We decided it was the well loved iron skillets and lard.

Yes I do believe it or not. Hehehe!! Several years ago dad bought all of us a set for Christmas. Now I haven't been using lard but I may have to try it the next time. I doubt they'll ever taste as great as grandmas but if I can get a little closer I'll be glad. I sure do miss her & her cooking. No ones been able to master her banana pudding either. How in the heck did she whip those eggs until they turned to fluff:confused: I'll never understand it :)

    That's true ya' know :)
100% My dad's mom's lard bucket looked NASTY....but her food was SURE good!! I remember asking my mom about it and she said that compared to Crisco, which is what she was using to fry chicken, she said yes, it looked nasty, but she said they may have looked nasty, but there was an art to a good bucket of lard.

I wish I had a well seasoned iron skillet !
Mom never used one and my gma did not cook.
I wish I had one too. I think mom sold hers on a rummage sale, and we never knew it. She might have offered it, but I don't remember...maybe my sister has it...just not sure.

I thought you might ask what lard was.
