Nearly every person i have spoken to who have tried electronic cigs, have stopped vaping and started smoking analogs again.
They all said they had no clue this site existed, and that their first purchase of an ecig was disappointing. "They don't work, I threw them out after the second day".

It just goes to show that most of these "over the counter" e cigs are defective and don't deliver.

I believe that only a small percentage of people who have tried ecigs before and were disappointed, end up on this site and ask for help, so as to make an educated purchase.

Sad really...

Vaping is really about EFFORT. It can be a magic bullet, but only if you really want to make it work.

The first time I tried an ecig (a Blu), I knew it could work for me. The other half wasn't handing over the credit card, though, until I had done my research (that's why I love him, he always knows what's best!).

I looked up a couple of the flashy looking websites like Blu and Greensmoke, but Google eventually brought me here. I browsed the forums for about a month before I finally made a decision. Three months later, I STILL feel like a noob. There is a wide variety of product out there, and new things daily.

The point I'm trying to make is that it takes motivation to learn and experiment your way to "the perfect vape". If you expect something to just jump out of the box and be a miracle solution, you're bound to be disappointed. People tend to rely on products to solve problems... when sometimes the real solution is just to do a little homework.

I've ran into the same disgruntled and disappointed would-be vapers. It's really upsetting that there are so many who really wanted to stop cigarettes but were knocked back by crappy, and usually expensive, e-cigs.
I stress, and I mean stress, to those people and everyone who even seems slightly interested, that they come here to the forums first and read, ask, and study for just a few days. A visit and study here will put them on the right path.
Read forums, then order.

I was surfing online and saw the "free trial" for Smoke Everywhere" and thought that free sounded good. Then I saw another "free trial" for Smoke 51 and thought again that free is good.
Fortunately for me, both companies blew it by their expensive follow-up to the FREE and automatic monthly re-supply of really expensive additional carts.
This sent me online to research more about these e-cigs and I found ECF.
Sent back the "Free trials", actually got all my money back after a few weeks and some luck.
Ordered my first 510 kit from the gals at Cignot and have enjoyed vaping ever since Oct. 2009.
I've ordered kits for a couple of friends and they have not followed up and gotten involved in their own cigfree health...they still have the kits and are not wanting to let go of them so I guess they are still "thinking about it".
I'm thinking of designing a sign for the exterior of my studio that says something about No Smoking - Vapers Welcome. Maybe some little cards with ECF info, too.
I so agree with the other posters to this thread that if someone wants to Not Smoke, they will find a way. If they really Want To Smoke, most any excuse will do.

It is unfortunate, but there are probably hundreds of individuals throughout the country who have taken it upon themselves as an opportunity to make a fast buck and started selling e-cig kits without even having a clue what they are even selling. For these types of people it's all about the profit and we've all read some horror stories about people who have been so mislead, so misinformed and sold inferior products and not receiving the support they expected and paid for.

I've been vaping for 7 months and have learned so much here at ECF but would not even begin to think I have enough experience to sell e-cigs without a lot more knowledge and information.

I am grateful that one friend got me started with a good, dependable KR808D-1 model, and then another friend who gave me a link here to ECF. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that without ECF I would have spent much more than I have and had a lot of difficulties and problems along the way. With ECF, I can get an answer to anything and continue to be smoke-free.

Couldn't of said it better. Spent about a week straight reading just about everything on ECF. I truly believe that's why vaping went so well for me.

being the internet detective I am I went home and found ECF.

LOL!! I do the same thing. My son always complains that I do too much research on the computer.

I almost made the typical mistake of rushing out and buying a kit based on how fancy a website looks. Thankfully, a little prodding brought me here and made me realize that there was so much more to vaping than I thought there was.

It's pretty much the same thing here in my country. There are quite a number of online vendors and also a couple of physical stores, but most of the people working the business have little to no clue of the products they're selling. Some don't even use the products!

IMO, the best thing we can do as individuals is to spread word of this forum and equip our friends with as much information as we can.

Some of the OTC eCigs do serve well by opening the door to vaping. I also know a few ole geezers that are perfectly happy spending $ on the PureSmokes they sell around here. No maintenance, buy refill carts & get a new atty in the pack. The many other brands with cartomizers are suitable for the type of folks that don't want to tinker.
I'm excited about the disposable 510's, it's a great bridge to a 'long life' real 510 kit.
The folks who quit vaping and returned to smoking likely never stopped smoking in the 1st place. I know so many who vape at work & places smoking is banned but still smoke at home, they just can't put those nasty sticks down.

I've informed many through my travels, pointed many here and let people know where I get my stuff. This all started innocently enough when my cousin couldn't be operated on in January because he's overweight and has high blood pressure. The doctor pointed him to the ever ratty Pure Smoke. I picked one up too and began my internet research. Thanks to all here who have helped me..I will be smoke free for 100 days Tuesday. I got mad last week when working on my Harley and fired up one outta the last pack I opened waaaayyy back. Boy it was NASTY but I smoked it because I lit it....I had no intentions of quitting in January and had listened silently as all the smokers I knew made those resolutions to quit. They all still smoke and now I find smoking rather stupid. I'll see someone with a cigarette and think man don't they know there is a better way. I feel if the good stuff was available at the corner store there would be many more vapers. All it takes is a little effort but it seems most people are too damn lazy. I mean all you gotta do is get the visa out point, click and sit back to wait for the mail...Simple...and the mailman has CINNICIDE!!! Put a Marlboro up against some Cinnicide. I find tobacco flavors rather crappy but I love AC. I'm going to quit rambling and mosey on...Thanks to CigNot, AltSmoke, Vapor Kings and the ECF a former 3-pack a day chain smoker has almost made it 100 days. Now if everyone would wise up.....we could bum juice......

I was disappointed after my first e-cig purchase (an NJOY Pro) and gave up rather quickly too. But several months later I found this site, learned a lot and got a DSE901. Had I believed it could actually replace analogs for me I would've put a little effort into doing just that. But I barely touched it for the first few months I had it. Then one day I decided to see how long I could go without smoking if I just gave the ecig an honest try. That was last October and I haven't had an analog since!

Now I use a Joye 510 (and just got an eGo) with some Johnson Creek smoke juice and aside from still liking the smell of someone else smoking, I don't miss cigarettes at all. I think I have to credit this forum as much as the ecig itself :)

I agree with El Dee above... if decent ecigs and nic liquids were available are locals stores, many more smokers would be switching every day. But little by little, I think the ecig revolution is taking hold!

My sister had a stroke, she was a 2 pack a day smoker..I bought her a 510 kit & she stuck with it for about 2 days then gave up...she said between her job & other stuff she didn't like all the trouble of it...I showed her easy things to make it quicker..like carto's etc..She started to use it again..I hope she continues with it...some people don't want to fuss with refilling Etc...No matter how much you try to show them..If they don't like it it seems they won't use them..Makes you feel frustrated
that you can't help them...But I'll never give up trying to convert her!!!!
