Keeks, I couldn't use a tool. It kept messing me up when I was wrapping. I just use about a 3"-4" piece of the 3/0 candle wick (it's the skinnier of the 2 sizes you have). Fold it in 1/2 and start wrapping my coils around the middle. That ended up being the easiest way for me to build them. Once you have it positioned where you want it then you can snip off the excess wick.

There is always a learning curve when setting up any wick and wire atty.

If your having real issues try picking up some pre-made ones

Rebuildable Atomizer Coils - Avid Vaper

I am going to pick up a few to test out. But I got a ton of wick and wire around here. :)

I think there is a few other places around and have sent off a few Emails to find the ones I am using from my
The Phoenix Style Rebuildable Atomizers I got from NHaler.com.

Just a thought if your having issues wrapping coils.

Thanks Dave :)

Is the Nichrome pretty flimsy? The one that came with the Chalice is very flimsy and thin, very difficult to get through the holes.
Are you testing the resistance after the wires have been cut?

I wish I would have tried the rolls that came with the Chalice before popping it out. I keep moving it around and trying different things but very little vapor or taste.

You're right. We can do this :D

Oh and I wrap mine the same way, I grab the cotton and straighten it out against a straightened paperclip. That way is so much easier to wrap the coils around the cotton.

I test resistance on the atty itself, once I have the coil placed and screwed in and the excess wire trimmed off. I tried to get a reading on just the wire itself against a flat surface but my leads can't seem to get a good read on bare wire - the ohms jump all over the place (like between 0.00 and 20.00) when I try it that way.

I'm on the prowl for a lighted desk ring magnifier, I'm hopeful that once I have one of those and can see a little better, I'll be able to manually wrap a decent coil without using the screw trick.

I'm so bummed! I still can't get a good vape off mine. I know I set it up correctly but barely any vape comes out and no taste.
:(

My first correctly wrapped one measured 2.2ohms so I tried as low as 3.7v all the way to 4.7. Nothing.

I can't be sure because the picture is straight down vertical shot, but it looks like that wick/coil are sitting on the base. Also the next to last coil is touching the post. Lift the wick ~1/16-1/8" up off the bottom, and make sure the coils are away from the posts, and you should be good to go. That is a beautiful coil/wick setup otherwise.

Really enjoying the Chalice with SS wick and Copper Creek "Banana Cake" :)

Who made your mod? It reminds of a prototype juicer I had in the early days by a chap in the UK, except it was made of PVC, and used a RN 4081 atty.

Thanks! I'm going to go try again!

i cant really tell from the picture. it looks like your coil is going through but it looks like there is some extra sticking out? you want to make sure that it is as close to the post as possible (like cut off). i prefer Kanthal A-1 32 awg resistance heating wire. this one really works well. you should also burn the wire before you use it. also every multi meter is different when you read the coil. mine seems to read out completely zero so i get an accurate reading. not all of them do that. what you should do if this happens to you, is you take the positive and negative leeds and let them touch eachother - if it read an ohm of 3 or 4 just minus that from your reading (when you are reading the coil). hope this helps!

Yes, thank you! Every bit of information at this point helps :)

It's so hard to try and not let the coils touch the posts! Argh.

I know i have some pictures around but anyway, if you guys looking for a video to setup the chalice i dont think theres one atm BUT if you search in your tube for patriot atomizer and how to setup its pretty much the same away, a good video is the Scott about the UFS patriot model; both are the same (patriot&patriot ufs) and the way to setup.

Skip to the 4 minute mark. Different atomizer, but same style posts and same method for coiling and wicking.

Really? It says it comes with an 18650 tube... Isn't that all that's required for an 18500 + Kick setup?

I thought I read it all but I guess not. I saw a bunch of 17650 mentions. My French ain't so good. I see it now as an option. Wish someone sold this in the states. Very cool.
