Hmm. I think I should have read these posts before testing the switches. Got three switches yesterday but just started testing them today (thanks Steve). Put one with the 801 adapter....seemed dead. Tried it with the 901 adapter protege...still seemed dead. Unscrewed the adapter and tested voltage at the switch. Then it works. Put adapter back on...dead. With the adapter unscrewed 1/4 turn, it mostly works (for both my 801 and 901). Tried the second switch and got exactly the same results.

I did tear apart the switch and moved the brass ring up figuring it was a contact issue (never though of spacing it with dental floss...great idea). Gonna try that and the idea of rotating the contact points to see if I can get it working with the adapter ring screwed in fully.

Anyway, even if I can't screw in the adapter fully...think of it as a safety off feature ;) It really does require quite a push on the switch to work.

Thanks all,
mm

I'm curious to see what people with the "loose adapter" issue think of this solution:

Many many thanks to Steve and the collected wisdom of this group! I used a piece of extremely thin wire (34 gauge craft wire my wife had) to space down the contact ring; and I turned the posts in the switch, and now this thing is hitting almost every single time w/o having to back the adapter most of the way off. I am still getting some inconsistent/weak hits but at least it's working, and I seem to be one or 2 little tweaks away from consistency.

I spoke too soon. This thing is still driving me batty.

Hey Toots! Give them a shot! Dust Settling really has nothing to do with it :) The quirky issues have been figured out on our end, its just a matter of getting it taken care of with the user! Some have these issues, some don't. :) If you need help, never hesitate to ask. If you need to send in the unit to have us take care of it for you, we can also do that!

I go through this same thing in my business. Release a new $120 yoyo and they're all wobbling like they have some weird disease. Not a big problem only when you just shipped 50 of them! This switch problem is really no big deal at least not for me. I saved so much money vaping rather than smoking .... logs I'm not concern of any financial lost, LoL Send this switch back, what return a piece of history? Years from now this will all be a memory a mile stone dating the time of past events. Life without mile stones is boring and lifeless. PureSmoke is here and trying to provide what we the idiots want. If a setback like this upsets you than maybe you need to move the solid colors 6 inches from the prints in your closet for kicks! Steve you know what needs to done, make adjustments and I'll by that new switch, mind you I'm keeping this switch from Puzzle World for the hell of it!

almost there.. only every few times will i need extra pressure to get it to fire.. it's now 90% of the time behaving like my old switch.. patience is a virtue it turns out.... ;)

My mother always told me that ... i just never believed her!!! I'm sure I will when the mrs. starts to pop out the little ones! I'm already learning it right now when the mrs. is watching her Guitar Lessons DVD on the TV practicing the guitar -- while Steve sits patiently waiting to play COD on PS3 :)

...sigh... good times :)

Beat the crap out of it anim8r ;) Put it through the ranks!

Yeah, curiosity got the best of me and I tried the suggestion of trimming a bit off the bottom of the plunger portion of the button.

Absolutely no difference. I still need to loosen the adapter a quarter turn.

It's no biggy. At the quarter turn position, it's still snug enough to stay put without randomly loosening or tightening during use.

I have a second protege and will undoubtedly get a second mechanical switch to put on it, since this bugger does hit better than my tact switch equipped version.

And even though it wasn't technically designed into the switch, I do like the ability to lock it "off" if I want

Now if only someone will send me my 401 adapter... :D
