After a four week wait, my mechanical switch finally arrived today. I wish I could say I'm glad to have it, but nope.
I've tried everything, including squeezing the button with both thumbs. I've got a pretty strong grip but this sucker just won't work. It's obviously defective. Who is designing this stuff? You shouldn't need vise grips to operate a push button.
Not that anyone else will care, but returning defects is getting expensive. I just hope the replacement doesn't take another four weeks because my replacement tact switch is acting like it's going to crap out again.
I had the same problem and was glad I came to this forum. Loosening or tightening, bruising my thumb, and nothing...
I was getting very frustrated.
Then I started with the adapter tightened all the way, pushed the button, nothing, backed off the adapter about an 1/8 of a turn, nothing, loosened another 1/8, nothing, repeat.
Finally, I heard the "sizzle" (about 5/8 turn total) without having to press the button that hard.
Have been hitting it for about 4 out of 5 tries with normal to strong finger pressure.
When it misses, I have to slightly tighten or loosen until it hits again, but at least I can go with simple finger presses, instead of trying to crush such a small button.
It is definitely getting better as I use it and hopefully I'll be able to have a fully tightened protege by tomorrow.
Edited: It's definitely hitting every time now (with it loosened about 5/8 of a turn for me). I got a good buzz looking for the sweet spot. I sure couldn't tell you why it doesn't work with a tightened adapter yet, and why it needs a break in, but I was this || close to sending the bugger back.
