I originally purchaced 2 LP RM2's from Rob, but he sent me 2 standard RM2's instead. I had also purchaced a Triangle for spare parts, well then one of my RM2's got real messed up and was no longer functional. So I decided to make a LP RM2 from the Triangle. Well I didnt have the center pin at the correct length and when I screwed it into my reo it caused the 510 center pin to short out, but this was intermittent and depended on where I grabbed the mod. So my meter check out that it was good, then I held it "wrong" and then *clink clink clink* of the battery rattling.

Honestly tho, my fuse mod is kick ayuss so I think I'm just going to stick with it. :vapor:

When Rob does the mod to the triangle he replaces the insulator for the center pin also.

What is preferred ~Button or Flat tops?

Most flat tops are higher amp and longer lasting. In cases where you have a choice and the performance is the same you will want to make sure the button doesn't add to the overall length of the battery. Most of the higher performance batteries are flat tops.

Note the Samsung's are 20amp - they work fine for .4ohm but if you plan to go much lower in resistance you will want a higher amp rated battery.

I should make a jingle I could call it if I had a golden spring .
It could on to If I had a golden spring I could roast my lung
If I had a golden spring I could make the magic clouds
If I had a golden spring I would be a supa star and on and on and on
If I had a golden spring and a magic melt proof button I would be the king you would see

BEFORE the new kits, you had to use a button top in the REO Grand unless you managed to make the leaf curl down (I wasn't very successful with mine). The new kits have a curl built in the tip, so you can use anything in it:). Flat tops last way longer as a whole than buttons, least the ones I have...

I had no idea... Hope the button top SX-30s work well.

Well, the button tops always work...

If you bought a new one, Rob said he upgraded everything new in the shop since the sub-ohm kits came out, so you can use flat tops no problem anyway:). It's only if you get an older Grand that you need the button tops (and it's fixable). The woodvil could always use flat tops.

I never had a problem running flat tops in my grands . I believe this myth started when guys would try to use there flat tops that were all beat up from them sub ohming in there tube mods . I always recommended the aw imr because the switch was built around the button top battery and it would stress the button to make contact with the flat tops

Well, when I first got my old grand, I used flat tops fine. Then I saw sparking, so I filed the leaf down a bit (er... with a diamond nail file, so I may have overdid it), added Ox-Gard, and then pushed the leaf up higher on the 510 connector for good measure... and then, no more firing flat tops for me til the sub-ohm kit came out (which was only a week later:p).

But I remember seeing others mention that it wouldn't fire flat tops either... maybe they filed their leafs down too much also tho:).
