Yeah I used the jigs that came with my kit n i did do that andntried to space them made them slanted

To make a Spaced Coil, for me, it is Easier to wrap a Tight Touching Coil on the Mandrel. Then when I'm done, I pull on the coil in the direction of the Mandrel. And or Push on the Wraps with my Fingers or a Little Blue Screwdriver. Then I bend the Legs if needed.

I do Everything on the Mandrel.

The Coil only comes off the Mandrel when it is secured in the Posts.

What kind of Claptons could I run?
Any kind you want, as long as you're within safe tolerances resistance wise.
That said...
Claptons eat batteries for breakfast in a mech.
I run 22/22/38 nichrome 80 claptons in my squonk. Lower ohmage than I would recommend for you, (.14), and I carry 4 20700 batteries in addition to the one in my squonk, as each lasts only about a half hour. Actually waiting on more 38g coming from China to rebuild with some 26g I have lying around, as I would like to increase the life of my batteries. I, too, enjoy a hot vape, but it comes at a price when you build on a mech...
Battery life being that price.

I was looking at kidney puncher ni80s they Got alot with safe ohms a pair

I might just buy a single coil rda and run a Clapton that way

I don't think 24g or 26g kanthal will give me flavor or ssl or ni80 prob just need to try but I'm spending way to much money for all this i just want to freaking squonk with my rabbit but losing faith

Just sits there Staring at me 2x 20700s my rabbit and hugo squeezer lol

I wouldn't think single core Claptons would kill battery life that bad with a dual coil set up on a mech

You'd be surprised how easy making claptons is. I prefer making fused, but everybody has their own preferences. I find spaced fused claptons to have unwatchable flavor, but as I said, I need to make some with smaller cores to be able to enjoy them, lol. Battery life has me trying 22g ni80 single wire. Flavor is nothing to write home about, and heat is seriously lacking.
Is what it is. I'll keep the fused claptons for an at home squonk I suppose.

Thicker wire is slower in a "fair" comparison, it's simple geometry. If the heat flux is the same, it will be slower. It can be set up (ignoring safety a moment) for more heat flux, that is more power to less surface area, and then will heat up fast but tend to overheat on longer drags. If the build is powerful enough, this becomes not a problem as a human being can't take that much.

If the build gets too large for the battery, then it will be underpowered (and/or unsafe). A proper setup always beats a poor one. Power level affects only how fast it makes the vapor and how that affects everything else especially technique. Claptons do provide some solution to the wire size geometry problem at the high power end, but for a proper dual coil single cell setup this advantage is minimal and offset, you need thinner gauges and probably SS cores.

Do you know about dry burning and working out the shorts in a contact coil? That coil is 6.5 wraps (both leads to one side).

Still gives me a close to mech experince before I try the hugo

I might buy some small premade Claptons just to get squonking tired of looking at it and not using it :(

Plan to rewrap another day low on cotton don't want to buy more yet just

    Try rayon.

Rayon is fantastic, Fifty. So much easier to deal with than cotton, especially if you are going to continue down the dual build trail.... Flavor I find so much better than cotton (you may need a tank or two to break it in, full disclosure, but honestly that can be true of cotton as well....) Also, with higher wattages, it will probably break-in faster than my puny, high-resistance builds. :) It is fantastic stuff though, it really is, and holds up much better over time than cotton.

Also, I want to point out that although you are hating the process, you hung in there and are getting places, right? Chalk it up to the Joys of Learning (which I usually enjoy, even when totally frustrated) not so much on the amount of "work" for the mech. All vaping involves "work" of some kind, be it vaping through cravings, changing a factory coil, or learning to build well (which was one of my biggest "chores" of all, and I'm still not the master of it or anything, not like DIY, but I can set up an RTA now without considering whether it may be easier to resume smoking these days, and that took me some time.

Your mech awaits, but the main thing is, I have to bet at this point, you feel more informed, if not more confident so congrats for hanging in there....
