If you're that sick and overworked, why not just wait until you feel better? You seem to be trying to find an enjoyable vape at a time when even just breathing sucks. Makes no sense.

And if it makes you feel better, I've never looked into heat flux. I don't care about the mathematics and science of my builds. I care whether they're safe and if the give me the results I want. An ohm meter , a bit of common sense and some patience is all you need.

Really, Fifty, you don't have to depreciate yourself to learn. There is WASTE and DIFFICULTY in learning more about vaping, you aren't a crackhead or anything else. You are just moving forward and building skills.

My vape nirvana has been littered along the way with failures, buying equipment that did not suit me or etc. I just kept counting the "costs" of COPD, and my desire to be successful at vaping. Every single penny I spent was worth it, including selling some equipment that did not work, or even giving it away, but until I did either, I just shoved it in my vacopalypse closet so I did not need to think about it again, ever. I found that happened less as I built my skills, but it's really important not to be wedded to a particular piece of equipment if it wasn't working for me (at that moment, or potentially ever). I'm super happy with my vapes at the moment, and I think I'm on month 7 or maybe even 8, I don't always keep track.

If you like your dual coil RTA with your usual builds, save it for that? I mean, I assume that you aren't going to vape a mech all the time, they aren't the most portable/safe objects to carry around everywhere.

Start researching a good, clone RDA that shines with flavor on single battery mechs, in fact I am certain (I am not your gal) that you can get some good recommendations with ONE question on this thread....

Hang in there, don't beat yourself up for lack of perfection/knowledge, we have ALL been there at one point or another. Calling yourself a crackhead is just putting yourself down and frankly, the less emotion going on as you move forward, the better.

Your approach needs to be calm, considered, and rational. I think you are gaining the skills you need, just relax and maybe try some different things, if not right this second, when you are able.

Mech's don't dissolve into a pile of dust if you don't use them immediately. They are really rather durable as long as you don't blow yourself up. You are going to be fine, just watch, and looking back, you may go, "Oh, wow, I really persevered and got where I needed to go." It's a great feeling, so don't pressure yourself, mainly.

To be perfectly honest, I've never paid attention to heat flux, either. Like you, I only care if my builds are safe and they give the results I'm after. I guess heat flux might be a benefitual value to those who do understand it, but it is in no way an absolute necessity.

When I first got into coil building, I must have gone through an entire reel of wire experimenting. I admit it was somewhat frustrating, but I LEARNED a lot from those "mistakes". I remembered that I didn't learn to ride a bike on the first day.

I quickly found out that thicker wire (or a lot of metal, in general) gobbled up battery current and took forever to heat up -- so I began to use thinner wire. Thinner wire required less energy (amps) and heated up faster. Winner!

Through experimentation, I found that I didn't like builds below 0.5 ohm -- 0.6 ohm was my sweet spot for flavor, vapor, and short ramp up time. Although I worked at a vape shop at the time, I didn't need to ask my coworkers for their favorite builds -- I probably would not have liked them anyway because they were all cloudchasers.

What do you mean measure the coil? I don't own a ruler a drill or hammer
Measure the resistance (ohms). You don't need a ruler, you need need a multi-meter, a stand-alone ohm reader, or a regulated mod. (What could you measure with a drill or a hammer?)

True one thing I hate is not being able to straighten the wire think that's why they slanted
Take two pairs of pliers, grab the wire by both ends, and pull hard, until you feel it stretch a little bit. It should be nice and straight when you release the tension. Clip off the kinked ends where the pliers gripped it, and voila! A nice piece of perfectly straight wire!

That concept has kinda gotten Lost with Many/Most today. And Mod Makers played into who can Pee Farther in the Snow by making Mods with ever Higher and Higher stated Wattages.

Some Exotic Multi-Wire Coils look Really Coil. But when it comes to a Better Hit, I think the Emperor's New Clothes plays a Big Part in things.

My 2 cents for @fifamymaingame : I’ve been vaping for 1.5 years and building my own coils for about a year and I still don’t see the need for a mech mod as there are countless awesome regulated mods. At first I avoided mechs as I didn’t have a firm grasp on ohms law and knew their potential of being unsafe if I didn’t know exactly what I was doing. But now that I am familiar with ohms law, I still prefer the relative safety of a regulated mod.
I understand not wanting to waste money on gear you don’t use and not having the money to buy something else. Maybe you could do a trade or sell your current mod? In the meantime (and if cost is an issue) get a Juul or cig-a-like from the local 7-11 or gas station.
I just don’t want to see you hurt yourself since you’re still struggling grasping the necessary skills and knowledge for using a mech mod safely. Your life will be so much easier with a simpler, regulated mod or cig-a-like.
The ECF forum in particular is known for its helpfulness and friendliness. People aren’t trying to be mean to you, they’re just alarmed that you don’t seem to be grasping the concept of how important it is to use a mech mod safely and we’re doing all we can to prevent people from having accidents that cause harm and contribute to a negative perception of vaping by the public.

With a background in building electronic circuits I have had an advanced grasp of Ohm's law since long before ecigs (as we know them) even existed. Still I see no real need to use a mech. Why use a mech and have to experiment with coils, worry about safety, and deal with declining performance as the battery drains; when you can use a regulated mod and throw nearly any coil on it, get a great vape by adjusting settings, while getting consistent performance as the battery drains?
