so out of 107 votes only 18 people have no problems with their JS? That's kinda sad.
that's an 83% failure rate.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that it's worthless or anything like that but just that I'm kinda kicking myself for not waiting till all of the bugs were worked out.
When it does work..... IT'S AWESOME
but sadly, most of them (that have come through this forum) don't.
I always take those polls with a grain of salt. Not everyone hangs out on the forum, and for many folks, when things are going well, they don't feel much need to check in/post. Thus, it wouldn't surprise me if those having problems are perhaps a bit over-represented in the poll.
I was one of the first folks to buy one of the original Duras. You'd think that after that, I'd be more inclined to take a back seat and wait for others to basically beta test for me. ;-) Strangely enough, that experience has actually made me feel okay about being an early adopter of a new design, at least from Janty.
Ultimately, I felt that Janty took good care of me and when the dust settled, there was a pretty amazing product. I see the JantyStick as much the same way. Yeah, it'd be nice if some of these bugs were coming up in field tests, but I suspect it's not quite as easy to field test these things as one might think.
For me, I see this as more than simply a product . . . to me, I'm an enthusiast who has picked up a hobby that I believe has quite possibly saved my life. Accordingly, I think I'm pretty forgiving when it comes to new designs and new products because I want to encourage innovation.
In any event, I generally recommend to folks that if they would rather not deal with bugs and frustrations (big and small), don't buy a brand new product--let others put it through the paces and let the kinks get worked out. For me, I decided be an early adopter of the JantyStick. For the Prodigy, which looks quite promising, I'm letting others to do the heavy lifting . . . and I'll watch with interest.
