mik, i gave one of them away as a mini present, the battery sealing on the TAWC seems to be the weak point.

i opened it afterwards, and i think the battery got to much liquid, it was nearly everywhere and the positive of the batt looked as if it was rusted or something.

because i was already there i tried to open the atomizer chamber, but hell is that a thick steel barrel. *shocked*

I think if the ban happens sales of this product will go through the roof.

"No officer, it is just a mp3 player."

If a ban happens, there will be no law against possession or use of a PV (except probably in no smoking areas). It would make it much easier for suppliers to ship it to folks, though. Easier to go through customs if the item description reads "mp3 player".

Here are a few thoughts:

The MP3 frill has virtually no appeal to many (like me) in contrast to the vastly more important and driving reasons I want a PV in the first place. --

As others have mentioned, superior function, durability, simplicity/user-friendliness, reliability etc. will override the purchasing choice for a considerable chunk of the customer market. - Some will find these frills attractive of course, but I would predict you'll succeed in only effecting an unnecessary and narrower delineation of anticipated market-slice.

There's ample historical evidence, from the standpoint of product commercialization, that the "combination-devices" or "multi-function" products.... although perceived as sexy from a designer's-eye standpoint... quite often fall flat or miss their mark. For example, the combination TV-VCR, the Multifunction-Printer/fax/copier, the combo Rifle-Shotgun (by Savage & others), the Ford Ranchero or Chevy El Camino, etc. etc. (you get the idea).

Now that's NOT to say there wouldn't be a market by any means. It's just that more-often-than-not many such 'combination' products, by virtue of the necessity of engineering economics and other inescapable compromises.... wind up being necessarily inferior in the expression of each of their component-functions.

Take the example of the idea of a combined Car+Truck like the El Camino or Ranchero as mentioned; I owned one before, and like most everyone else I knew... we found it's actual utility & capacity very weak in either (both) of it's functions. - In addition, like the TV-VCR combo or the MFC... quite often the malfunction of just one of the component-elements can render the other functional elements useless as well. -- [**Be especially sure to have your engineers carefully segregate these aspects so as to avoid jeopardizing the ability to continue using the PV despite the potential malfunction of the MP3 electronics etc.]

But that's just my two-cents worth.

Just as an aside... I've got 2 of the 510 kits (4 e-cigs) from cignot on their way, and I'm hoping I'll see them arrive today. The 510's are intended primarily for introducing Vaping to friends and family members. I rather anticipate having to order more before the end of the week.

BUT what I'm really excited about are the 2 JANTY-Stick kits on their way as well. I'm hoping they'll get here tomorrow!!:p
Those are ALL MINE!!

cheers,
fisch;)

Yes- thanks for reiterating my point. More or less. And yes, it would be like one of those all-in-stereos of the past. The tape player breaks and it's a paperweight.

Here's what I wrote:

"My experiences with all-in-one devices has been dismal at best. I can't speak for everyone so. . .

If the MP3 player were modular- i.e. detachable, it may prolong and give the buyer more incentive because he/she/it may feel more confident about the final product. Plus- in the future you could release a camera, upgrade the player easier and possible add an auto-dripper or more battery storage."

What do you think?

Hey

thanks for your input:

Heres another way to look at it - the following are multifunction items that are succesfull - and i bet many of these were considered idiotic at first by some. Not thereby saying this will guarantee the success of the Cameo :)

The swiss army knife,

The Ipod,

Almost all mobile phones,

and these are just to name a few. So while i do agree with you on certain items, i also think its necessary sometimes to make things, "because we can" - cause those things often generate other ideas - or become important parts of history, just by being "odd" and out of place.

So anything can happen : even us removing the mp3 player from the Cameo. The opposite can also be true. ;) we will see!

i have said it before... i will say it again...

i would much rather see money spent on developing a better atomizer , or juice delivery system. Rather than putting nonsense like an mp3 player in a PV , this is a bush league , late night infomercial product... at best...

And what tells you we are not working on this already? =)

But, things take time - and if theres a market, theres a market. As you can see from this thread alot of people love this idea, and alot of people dont love it. Isnt that how it should be in all honesty? =)

Maybe our next product unveiling will be something you like!

I think its too early to say to be honest. Maybe we will have so much trouble producing the Cameo as we want that we will give up on doing it the way we present it now. Or maybe we will do it just right, - its too early to say that yet. I myself hope to get more info on how the status of the prototype is soon -and ofcourse when i get that info, ill relay it.

But we _are_ listening to you all.

has anyone tried to repair this them self?

my v2 has a funky switch also and its getting worse.
i hate to send it back just for a switch.

I am with you on that. My hubby and I just returned our V1 JS and after receiving the V2, we're finding that the V2 switch is worse than the V1. Both of our JS switches are very inconsistent. I thought maybe we just had to find the "sweet spot", but there is no "sweet spot". We tried new atties on both of them, unscrewing the battery a tad, new batteries, etc. Other than the switch, we love our JS (although the switch is a main necessity to the JS!).
Anybody else having this problem or have found a solution to this issue, besides sending it back to Janty? The JS is our only PV and w/o it we are back to analogs.

Will there be any kind of support for this after the 6 month warranty is gone? Say a year down the line the mp3 player takes a poop, could someone send it back and have it repaired for a reasonable fee rather than having a XXX$ stick thats 1/2 broken?

I assume when the atty is retracted it is disabled? So if its in a pocket it wont be activated by accident?

The only biggest downfall you might have selling this is that these days quite a few people have a phone with mp3 built in, most times I carry my Blackberry for phone/net and my Ipod touch for music/games/video even though the BB does those things too, the Ipod just does them better. I can't justify having 3 things with my that play music

Oh, does this have a battery meter on it? that would be quite handy!

Who says someone's not. . .

i'm sure someone is, Janty waited F-O-R-E-V-E-R to finally "reveal" the Cameo and did that whole cryptic "we know something you don't know" game , i for one am disappointed , i was hoping this would be the Janty product i finally buy... but as it stands... nothing janty has done has really impressed me.

Don't take it personally Janty, nothing against you, it's a tough market , and while other companies are making devices that actually IMPROVE the vaping experience. Janty puts an MP3 player in their new PV.

i stand by what i said , late night infomercial product... at best.
