The Cameo as it was presented (including the preposterous hype) was horrible, ill-conceived, and poorly presented. If this was being introduced by a new or unknown company I doubt you'd have any goodwill on these forums, but the Janty brand has a certain amount of loyalty. Some of the comments have been harsh (maybe even overly so) but I think that they were invited by the way this product was hyped and then presented.

The Cameo as initially presented seems like something that a company who knew nothing about personal vaporizers and those who use them might come up with to try to cash in on the emerging market. I'm glad you are listening to your customers now, but just looking at the guesses in your hype thread for the product probably should have been an indication that you were barking up the wrong tree. Did anyone guess the correct answer? Did you notice the features people kept guessing about and hoping for? Didn't this throw up any red flags about your product?

If you want to know what people want, I suggest you head over to the modder's forum and have your R&D people read. Sorry you are feeling beat up on this, but you did ask for it. It's not like the features everyone wants are being kept secret:
1. longer battery life
2. longer atomizer life
3. longer lasting carts or
4. multiple voltages
5. no more carts, we want a juice tank
6. an off switch
7. a PV that is aesthetically pleasing and ergonomically designed
8. a PCC that looks cool, holds everything (including a fully assembled PV) and fits comfortably in a pocket

This is just a short list of things people post about on these forums all the time...can't say I've seen anyone pine for an MP3 player. The Cameo just smacked of the Homer Simpson design philosophy: take an existing product and slap a clock on it.

While I'm glad you are getting consumer feedback now, and will be trying to incorporate this into a future product, the criticism of the Cameo and the lack of a thoughtful design process that brought it this far are deserved.

Let me try to answer some of your issues, and while doing so, let me remark this is old news now. Can we move on - alot of people have said what you have said, and i have responded to them.

1. longer battery life

Answer: we are not alkaline, or duracell. Its up to others to make longer lasting batteries.

2. longer atomizer life

Answer: Our atomizers are designed for 100.000 hits at 3.7 volt. Thats quite long for something that gets so hot, and gets used so frequently, while sometimes being soaked, and sometimes being too dry. I doubt the problem lies in JANTY atomizer-lifespan's, but i wont deny that other manufacturers might have problems with theirs.

3. longer lasting carts or

Answer: We are investigating this

4. multiple voltages

Answer: We are investigating this

5. no more carts, we want a juice tank

Answer: Its not easy to integrate - one thing is to make it work, - alot of people can do that: Another thing is to make it work while in your pocket all day, or in the sun, or in the cold, or being man-handled. Trust me, this is not easy - but we are investigating it.

6. an off switch

Answer: This is something we are trying to integrate in all our future units.

7. a PV that is aesthetically pleasing and ergonomically designed

Answer: This is what we are doing at the moment: look at the Baby J for instance. But this is a subjective matter.

8. a PCC that looks cool, holds everything (including a fully assembled PV) and fits comfortably in a pocket

Answer: We are investigating this also

--- I hope that helps you out a bit. And at the same time i hope you, and others realise that while Janty has not invented these things yet, it doesnt mean Janty is slacking. Who else has made it - on a consumer-level ? Who has made something like a juice tank work - professionally, and had it out on the market.

No one.

So when people "blame" Janty for not having implemented this, it kinda makes me sad that people dont see its not "ours to invent". Its a simple matter of some stuff that will work on your desk, but wont work in real life, for every day use. Once we, - OR others figure it out, then its something everyone will implement - and i look forward to that day. But that is all i can do: When im not trying to solve the problem myself.

So - what you are saying above is kind of pointless to me - you are assuming that because we have a business, that we then need to drop everything else in our hands and go solve the problems that everyone else has a hard time solving. And while that would be the ideal way to do things, it wont work like that in real life.

We *are* a business, and we are one because we make products people like, and buy. So in order to stay alive, we need to make more products, that people like, and will buy.

But inbetween those products - or maybe coming WITH a product, there might be an implementation of something new. And thats how you do it: Step by step.

Think about it: If we had implemented everything you mentioned above in ONE e-cigarette, then .. well.. lets just say we could have a potential disaster on our hands, because we would have 4-6 new technologies, that hasnt been tested under a warranty before, working all at once, together for the first time.

So, i quite frankly think we are doing things the right way. We are moving ahead, slowly but surely. If someone else then invents the juice tank, - sure, then we (and everyone else) will copy that idea and integrate it. But i think this is the only way for the entire e-cigarette community to go forward: To learn from each others mistakes, and successes.

But we still need to take it one step at a time!

Regards,

Mik

Anybody know when janty will be back in stock of... anything? Ive been wanting to buy carts for 510, and 801, along with attys for 510 and 801 for a couple of weeks now, and janty is out of stock on everything (90% of high carts are out, all attys seem to be out).

Does anybody have a clue when janty will carry stock again?

Will Janty USA honor the warranty on Janty Sticks purchased from other vendors? I, and several others, have been unable to get a response from the original vendor since 09/24/09. The original vendor has been great and responsive in the past so there may be uncontrollable circumstances prevailing on him. However, my JS still needs to be repaired/replaced. I like to support small business, but my purchases must be directed to the vendor with the best supply and service. Please let me know what steps are required on my part to resolve this.
Delete this if you prefer to use PM, email or other communication. Thanks.

i agree with everyone else, i really do not want to ship mine back. i may bite the bullet and take it apart and see if i can fix it.

Let us know how that goes - if you do try to fix it.

I've looked around the web for a "replacement" bubble switch with not much luck and I'm not sure there is much room (or connections) for any other type of switch.

From what Ethan emailed me, most people have had problems with either leakage under the switch itself or the switch 'peeling' off; which they have 'fixed' by using packing tape over the whole switch plate.

My current switch failure does seem to be of the 'peeling' nature as I'm finding if I rub it down real good - espeically in the morning after long rest time - it seems to work better and more consistently for awhile.

:) Interesting "fix". The switch on my replacement Stick lasted less than two weeks. Since then, my JS has been living in a junk drawer with a dead battery and a tear in its eye.

Nice concept, too bad it didn't lend itself to real world use.

I ordered a V2 Janty stick. Should it be returned? Is it simply a bad design?

well the switches seem to have a bad history and for me personally the 801 atty/cart system really sucks. I'm hoping the 510 adaptor gets fixed and ships soon. In the meantime I only can drip with it and it hasn't been that satisfying. I still pull out my 510 when I get tired of trying to make the JS work. I've spent countless hours trying to do cart mods but it just dosen't seem to help. Totally frustrated at this point. I love the product concept and if it would work like the 510's do, but with the JS's bigger batt and built in USB pass thru, I'd LOVE it.
